It's probably people misremembering "Negative Nancy" as "Debbie Downer". Contextually they mean the same thing, but the evidence is pretty clear on where the latter originated. Good video.
I was born in 1972. I never heard of Debbie Downer before the SNL sketch. Internet know-it-alls that are wrong are so annoying. Trust me, if Debbie Downer was being used in the 80s, it would be all those cheesy 80s movies. An internet search would still show it in the dialogue from them... if it existed.
Ok, i have no knowledge on this subject so i won't even try. What i'd like to point out though is a mistake in reasoning often made. The idea behind a mandela effect case is that in another reality certain facts were different, and now here *in this one* things obviously are not the same (redundant, i know, but that's the very problem). So, when folks dispute said "fact" they usually go on a quest to prove/disprove it, by checking... *this present reality!* Is it really surprising to come out empty handed? If the supposed problem is that the "fact" we're searching for is trapped in that other reality, how can we find it in this one?
