Sterk! Jcviggen, een naam die ik destijds zag passeren op de trackdays met de snelle Volvo, precies nog wat sneller geworden! Handgeschakelde nieuwe gen Porsche! Fantastisch
Amazing driving there! If you happen to do another hot lap, do you think you can include footage of your footwork with the pedals? Would be just about as satisfying to watch as the manual shifting 👍
New tires and new suspension setup makes a lot of difference. Top tier pros may find some improvement in braking zone by using more trail braking, but it is already super impressive.
I spoke to Lars during the track day, he was very worried about you break lap record on manual and finally told me he was going to hang himself from a tree after watched your video 😱 I hope you are happy about that 🤣
Planning to also broke the official lap time with the mk1 gt3 rs on stock cup 2. Almost did it few years ago but always got traffic. ended up 2sec behind with stock car, stock alignment, stock everything and a little slow down. my optimal was 6,59btg. unfortunately i did not drive since then but i hope to be at the gran turismo event 2024. Your suspention seems so better than the rs mk1 by the way.. like your laps ;) nice driving
Awesome! I think a .1 RS can go a little quicker on the Nordschleife with the downforce and same power, but you definitely need a good suspension setup to get the car stable and confident to drive. Manthey setup made mine quite a bit better to drive on the Ring, very pointy but relatively predictable and stable. I think there is about 5 seconds between a 991.2 RS and the .1 with everything else equal (including tires)
@@JCviggen1 the mk1 rs suspention are really soft , when i told the guy at menthey i did 7.04 with the car their jaw dropped lol. They did not believe me at first untill i showed them the gps. Honestly on cup 2 n2 with stock evrything i don t think you can go mutch lower than 6.59 btg. Never tried the tropheo r but i head they have good grip. How many sec do you think compared to cup 2r ? About the 991.2 rs, i think everything equal is a bit more than 5sec. I would think 10 only for the chassi. But i jave one in the garage so may be some day i will Know for sure haha . Hope to meet you at some track day :)
@@nico2006t .1 RS uses exactly the same springs/dampers as .2 GT3 :) 45 N/mm front and 120 N/mm rear with some progressiveness in the rear. The part numbers are the same. .2 RS jumped to 100/160 N/mm huge increase So the .1 is soft but for the Nordschleife that works OK. Mostly at smoother tracks like Spa more spring rate would be nice. The difference in time between Cup 2 and Cup 2R is about 5 seconds. Joerg Bergmeister told me that number so I guess for him that is what it was, interestingly for the GT4 RS the difference was 7 or 8 seconds improvement from that tire. Trofeo is in the middle between regular Cup and R but easier to drive than R. I like that tire a lot but it is too expensive. I plan to do Destination Nurburgring Ringmeisters next year and hopefully a couple of Manthey Racing trackdays. Hope to come across you somewhere!
@@nico2006t It was actually in relation to 992 GT3 but it probably holds up to other models. Cup 2R gains the most time in hard braking and there isn't a lot of that on the Ring. Many long straights where the tire does nothing. And 5 seconds is a lot to find when you are already on the limit... I actually never tried stock Cup2 on the Ring on my car. I did drive stock cups at Spa and they did a pretty good lap time. Trofeo R is maybe 0.5s quicker there over 2m35 lap which is less than I expected, it felt like more but the stopwatch did not agree. I found a roughly 3 second difference on the Ring from trofeo to cup2r and I can believe the trofeos gain about 2s to the cup2 so then we are back to 5 seconds. There are bigger time differences than this from driving on a cold day vs a warm day on the Ring so it's really difficult to measure precisely if you don't have a whole team waiting for you in the parking lot to quickly change wheels and tires for you :)
Wow!!! I´m driving a 991.2 Touring and been to Knutstorp a couple of times, this is amazing driving!! Are you thinking about a PDK car och sticking with the manual?
Great driving man, Saw you at Petrolhead Sunday, amazing skills and beautiful car. A question: how do you mount your camera for this beautiful cockpit view? Special mount for this or what solution did you use to get this? Thanks in advance!
Merci!
Thanks m8! I think many people in the RS put too much rear wing or something, especially the MR cars... they are slow on the straigthts but if you look at Alex' 6:39 his speeds on the straights are as high or higher than mine (due to faster corner exit also). Overall the GT3 definitely needs more downforce but it's not bad.
Fantastic lap. I'm deciding between a 718 gt4 and 991.2 gt3. Outright speed is not the most important to me, rather the most fun. What car is the most fun, not considering the engine? Thx!
Thanks! Depends a bit where you drive it. On a mountain road I rate a GT4 very highly, of course the GT3 is another step in terms of traction and drivetrain but a GT4 loves to change direction more. On track, no comparison the GT3 is a weapon and the GT4 is a bit compromised. It's also difficult to ignore the engine difference, it's a big part of the fun. However value for money a GT4 is strong either way, these cars are not the same price
This is nuts 🤯 tiergarten compression at 296 km/h, that takes some balls. I don’t think I’d be able to shut up about it if I’d beat the official Porsche time with a slower transmission, lol. What’s that lap timing app you’re using?
It's racechrono 👍 Via Android Auto I am mirroring the screen of my phone which has the lap timer on it (it is connected to a 10 Hz GPS receiver via bluetooth) Android Auto is not available normally however because the PCM uses the same hardware as Audi the Android Auto is present in the software and can be enabled 🙈
I've watched this video several times and, as I've mentioned, I'm impressed. I presume your 7 minutes and 11.6 seconds time is on the Sport Auto track, which measures 20.6km? Porsche achieves their 7 minutes and 12.7 seconds time on the Sport Auto track, also measuring 20.6km. I got confused because it says "full lap" in the video, but now I understand, it's not a full lap but the 20.6km Sport Auto Lap you're referring to. Nicely done indeed. I clocked the lap twice with my iPhone 15 and got your full 20.8km lap at approximately 7 minutes and 16 seconds. I assume you subtract the 23 seconds your car spends on the straight, which would give you your 6 minutes and 53 seconds BTG time. Really well driven, as I've said before but it's worth saying again.
Thanks man, it is confusing yeah probably because Nurb times are confusing generally :D I didn't know how else to describe it and title length is limited...when Porsche did the 7:12.7 there was only the 20.6km which we now call Sport Auto lap, nobody was doing 20.8 and they just called it the Nurburgring time. I actually measured the 6:53.3 BTG time on a separate device which is not visible in the video (Dragy lap timer) if you download that app you may be able to find the time actually since I uploaded it to their database. I also used the dragy lap timer to extract the raw GPS file and imported it to circuit tools, where it seems the real time may be a few tenths quicker. I sent the file to the fastestlaps site and that guy decided it was 7:10.92 but it's impossible to check with video to such accuracy so I don't know. The BTG I am sure about because I did have the longer video where the "start" at the bridge is included and it seemed correct.
Of course my issue now is what I try to do next, I don't usually enjoy driving in circles without any goals but I have to be realistic that it is not possible to do a kamikaze lap during trackdays when you have to be lucky with traffic, it's not possible to drive on a closed track like the official times do. In terms of "modern" times the GT4RS is still a few seconds ahead which is a modern time on Cup 2R so the most comparable. On the other hand there is the fastest outright time with a manual gearbox which is the Viper ACR, but it's pretty far ahead. For this year I fitted the MR suspension and aero but I don't expect much time from that to be honest.. I also mapped the ECU so that I have GT3 RS power level going forward. The rest needs a perfect weather day, perfect traffic, and no f-ups... and of course you have to actually go and try it, but I only have 2 trackdays for the year planned so far.
Front is the stock 245 size tire, the pointiness comes from the Manthey setup they added quite a bit of rake to the car. I don't know the exact camber numbers I think it's somewhere around the 2.3-2.5 degree mark at the front and a bit less at the back. That was just eyeballing it compared to cars with -2.7-3.0 at the front.
7:11 is full lap (20.6 km time) versus 7:12 for the official lap time. Most amateur times use the BTG time which removes the bit between the first bridge and last gantry, it's about 18 seconds difference. If you notice I referenced both times in the title :)
