(Car on jackstands)... I changed both lower valve cover gaskets. The old ones (26 years!) had hardened and were leaking oil onto the heat exchangers. The other areas to watch are: the rubber gasket at the lowest point in the intake manifold, i.e. where the varioram valve is, and, the chain covers and loose tubing (that was 'pulled away' during an oil change) and, yes, the filters themselves (double gaskets!). With regards to the varioram gasket leak: if you DON'T fill up the oil reservoir, then the likelihood of oil getting sucked into the manifold is reduced. If it doesn't get sucked in, it doesn't get a chance to pool at the lowest point!
I've a 1996 993 C2 iris blue metallic. I just finished the 60,000 mile service (myself). I used Mobil 1, 75W90, NS because mine has a limited slip differential. I did all of the work with the car on jackstands in my garage. I also needed a breaker bar.
Keep the videos coming man!!! I just dropped my engine on my 993 to address some oil leaks. I’m loving following along with you!
Have a good one.
Let me know if I can help, or if you need pictures of anything

I would have preferred to do everything in the car too, but the engine needed so much more!
Your videos make me wanna start working on my 993. Thank u
It’s addictive and expensive. I hope on my my next 993, I find a local friend that wants to help
