Synopsis:
A Splendid Life In Beijing depicts the life of four brothers from their young years in the 1970s, when they grow up as ordinary people in Beijing’s alleys, till their fourties. Misfortune strikes when the oldest brother accidentally kills his neighbor with a fruit knife while fooling around. He has to pay for his actions and goes to jail. The second oldest brother’s dream is to have his own successful business. He starts out by buying and reselling mung bean sprouts, then opens his own mutton stall and later enters the fashion market. Even though his businesses continuously fail, he doesn’t give up. But he doesn’t only show persistence towards his work, he’s also persistent in pursuing his love. The second youngest brother throws himself into the stock market right after graduating from university. At the same time, he becomes entangled in a love triangle. Finally, the youngest brother has asthma and stammers. In order to not be a burden to his family, he trains hard and diligently practices tongue twisters and comic dialogues. He later becomes a postman and finds his true love through his job.

He cheated the first time they were together and he hit her. I never understood why she married him.
How about...if wife cheat like husband do...is he will accept n forgive her....????
The ending with them is really ambiguous...they are holding hands but when he asks her what her future plans are she tells him it's not his business, so it's not clear if they got back together or not..I really hope not....
This story captivated me from beginning to end. Intense and full of realities experienced by all of us. I went from laughing to crying. I celebrated the victories. I mourned the losses. And I fell in love with the character of the Second Brother. Congratulations to the entire cast👏👏
Thank you for your words I agree with you. I first started & skimmed thru the series. After a few days it kept coming back to my mind. I started again & watched every episode. I did wonder why 3 of the leads were in their 50’s, but the sons did grow on me. The music was delightful.
I fell in love with this family and Second's wife, she was an amazing woman, also in the end I admired his childhood girl friend. I cried so hard and laughed hard during this drama. Thank you to the writers and acters, a lovely family story. ❤💞💙💓👏👏👏👏🙌🌺🌱🌳🌷🌼🌹💐
The ending was such a disappointment. She should never have forgiven him. He was a self centered prick, he only loves himself.

Amazing how the mistress ruined her life and now she have the guts to say something to the doctor. No, what is done is done. A cheater will always be a cheater. He was given a chance but he cheated again with the same mistress.
I really hate how she have that smirk in her face when she caught them in the act.
She said she needs hug, so you steal someone’s hug. Once you steal someone from somebody you will never be happy because it will not last. It’s temporary madness but the consequence is lifelong.

And that insecure doc told him via a movie parable like the heroine she's willing to wait for his release. Only in the movie the hero did not cheat nor embezzled.

Open ended ending for what was a fascinating drama of flawed personalities struggling thru the realities of life. First son never broke out from his incarceration and only found himself after breaking free from the confines of city life. Second son went thru the school of hard knocks and only thru the tragedy of his wife's death was his pride and arrogance tempered. His wife who succumbed to cancer was the star of the series imo. Fourth son was the dreamer who never stood up for what he believed in until too late. Lastly Third son is the flawed character in the series. Intelligent, crafty but deceitful and selfish. The ending pretty much sums up his life, empty with no friends or love that endures. He was double minded in love by his greed to want both women but unwilling to sacrifice or make any lasting commitment. In the end his mantra of looking forward is the only reality of a past full of tatters and fleeting success. Third's doctor wife was naive and scarred by betrayal but still willing to be the fool to wait for Third. The other women, I wouldn't call her a mistress was scarred by her parents' divorce to fear the commitment of marriage and enduring relationship. I see her as the victim of unrequited love from Third and in the end it was to be a life of independence but loneliness. Second's ex-drug addict partner is a story of transformation thru sheer grit. The star of the show was the cancer stricken wife of Second. A touching life of fullness even in her tragedy. She showed faithfulness, enduring love and sacrifice.

What romance? By abusing an old Japanese classic movie? In that movie the farm help that she fell in love with was a fugitive from crimes not related to marital nor embezzlement.

Si quería pedirle perdon a la esposa, en nombre de los dos y reconoce el daño infringido, como a seguir le pide que viaje y le avise de la demanda? Si fue operada por la esposa, apenas por una cuestion de etica medica, por qué se aproxima a ella y le habla del pasado? por qué despues la novela muestra nuevamente sus traumas y dolores personales, como para inspirar la lastima y comprension por el personaje como si todas nuestras maldades se justificaran por lo que hemos sufrido? por qué la esposa viaja y le brinda apoyo y consejo a él, con todo lo que el le hizo, siendo él un hombre que sabe proteger y cuidar a los demas, inclusive a ella, `pero siempre desde la temeridad y la condescendencia y abiertamente tiene un concepto muy pobre y mezquino de ella, considerandola ingenua y torpe? por qué los dramas chinos dejan siempre tan mal paradas a las mujeres?
el le escribe diciendo que siempre la amó, que necesita de su mano perdonadora, y que si se separan el vivira una vida miserable, ella se abstiene de decirle sus planes antes de que el le diga que piensa hacer de su vida si vuelven a estar juntos, algo que queria decirle cara a cara. y entonces le dice que seguira adelnate, que vivira y tratara de ser feliz con todo lo que suceda. Y se quedan mirando el horizonte. despues, el se presenta ante la justicia, y se dispone a seguir, como habia dicho...todo muy poetico...
Pero hubiera sido mas positivo, mostrar que él no la ama tanto asi y realmente puede seguir adelante, sin pensar mucho en ella, como ha hecho siempre, Y que ella puede superarlo, apoyandose en su desvalorizada inteligencia y fortaleza, algo que le proporcionaria un icreible crecimiento como persona. en su espiritu, en autoestima, y en sus posibilidades de logro, cosas que nunca ha compartido con él, Una pena, Otra oportunidad mas que se pierde en un drama chino de construir personajes femninos dignos.

A fala sério, o sujeito ficou com a amante até quase o fim aí vem com a história que no coração dele só amava a esposa, alguém acredita em chapeuzinho vermelho, muito ruim final.
hasta elultimo minuto con la despedida con la amante él fue ambiguo, pidio abrazo y se miraron con sensualidad. Nunca mirará a la esposa de esa manera, ni la considerará de esa manera, espero que no vuelvan a estar juntos. Ella se merece todo el amor y la entrega que es capaz de ofrecer.

The 2nd part of the letter that he had to tell her in person was showing her the sizable acreage all planned and purchased by his brothers. Him in secrecy too. Their future will be secured. So I think he became the sacrificed goat.temporary .

Anak sulung berhasil keluar dari konflik bersaudara, anak kedua dari kecil sangat nakal tapi hatinya setia terhadap cinta. Anak ketiga sangat ambisius hingga mengabaikan perasaan semua orang, anak ke empat sebagai anak bungsu karakternya tidak bisa berkembang karena reputasi kakak2nya telah menyita perhatian orang tua mereka...dia putuskan jadi pahlawan untuk gadis yang dia suka.....tidak mudah merawat seorang anak laki laki..apalagi 4 orang anak laki2 dengan karakter berbeda.

판롱이 전남편을 들판에서 만난건 이해가 되지 않는다 끝까지 도도함을 유지 했어야 한다 드라마흐름 내용상에도 맞지 않는다 판롱과 그가 재결합 하길 원했지만 시청자가 납득할수 있는 극적인 상황전개가 있어야 한다 형편없는 결말 전체적인 내용은 괜챦은데 결말은 전체 내용 마저 형편없게 만든다
