- What is up all you Pokémon maniacs out there! PikiPikaPapa is here taking a deep dive look into some potential Hidden GEMS of Pokemon Investing. This is intended to be a fun & informative video for us to look at some off the radar and potential Hidden GEMS of Pokemon Investing. As you will see I have been doing a lot of searching into the vintage space and layered some of my previous experience to come up with what I think might be some Hidden GEMS of Pokemon Investing. Markets rarely move linearly either up or down so when we see crazy price spikes we should expect to see some type of correction and in this video we highlight that fact and talk about how that plays into long term price growth. Edit: Also, it would be really cool to see a breakdown of the ratio between PSA 9 and PSA 10 prices on certain mid vintage/vintage cards. If money is no option most people would get the 10, but there are cards that have huge (and unjustified in my opinion) swings from 9 to 10.
I think in the long run, 9’s will become as valuable as 10’s are today, and 10’s might experience a correction or trickle upwards at a slower rate. Who knows though!
Love the idea of the breakdown between 9 & 10 prices!! I'll have to work on it as a side project and get some data together!! Also, I'll be shooting the crack and resub video today!!
I just got one of my grails, japanese dark Dragonite from the silver deck kit in PSA 10 (unlimited) pop 32 it has a similar Holo to the coro coro mew that sparkle over the whole card with a cosmos holo pattern as well

Awesome, I'll see what I can pull together. It's easier then one might think but you've gotta do a few to warm up and get the process down!!

Hey pikapika - I really agree with the way you value cards. However, it seems like the majority of the hobby has the consensus that vintage cards just don’t have much more room for growth and will not be much more valued than they are now. Have you given this any thought and, if so, what are they?
Yeah I think that's the reaction of a young hobby that hasn't had a chance to age yet which Pokemon really is. Pokemon started in 1996 in Japan and 1999 elsewhere. I know to a lot of people it feels like the hobby has some "age" to it and these cards are "vintage" but overall Pokemon is but an infant in the collecting world. If OG cards from the original sets don't grow in value over time the hobby as a whole will be in big big trouble...
I think a video on cracking slabs and resubmitting would be good.

PPP take a look at Rayquaza ex 039 promo. The 9 to 10 ratio is very spread because of the damage left by the tins plastic prongs.

In my experience, I have made more money from holding modern and selling three years later than my bigger ticket old items. As a percentage roi, it is higher and the risk is lower (volume of sales). Just my experience.
Timing those modern hype cycles can be EPIC!! I know a lot of people who cashed out big time during the most recent Alt Art spike and that keeps cash flowing so it's def a great way to approach it!!
Gold stars especially from the ex deoxys and Trr era are literally the most stable high end cards in talking psa 9s and under since 2020 take a gander if you want to see real stability
Thanks to this I started doing some digging into the entire Gold Star Lineup!! Really appreciate the awesome input and I think you're right, there is some really cool stuff happening in that space. I might even do a video on it so thank you so much for the awesome comment!!
@@PikaPikaPapa that's awesome yea I been a gold star collector since 2020 and I come to find that it's a small but very nice group of collectors since the copies are so scarce in psa 9 plus... me and alot of other collectors are totally fine with PSA 5 6 7 even psa 1s because of the rarity and rich history of gold stars
I’m starting to get into the prime cards. Whenever I see clean copies I buy them.
It's fun to chase some of the older stuff and really work on finding the clean copies that are out there. The hunt is part of the fun for me!!
