- Mr. Abagnale discusses the importance of identity management for companies, corporations, financial institutions, small businesses and individuals. He brings his audience up-to-date with all aspects of identity theft, the means used to obtain people’s identities and the effect on corporations and institutions.
RUclips recommended me this guys talk about checks, credit cards, document safety etc.
I gues just cuz I looked up one video that explained how cards work.
I did not.. register that he is THE guy from that movie, the real one.
Some financial institutions are better than others.
I was on vacation and used two different cards, a credit card and a debit card, both from my credit union, one to buy gas and the other for a restaurant. Apparently someone at each business stole that card's info. Within hours my credit union (Navy Federal) called me to ask about some fishy transactions on both accounts that didn't look characteristic of me. I told them those were both someone else, and they immediately cancelled both cards and refunded me the money that was spent by someone else on both the credit and the debit account, pending investigation (they said that if it did turn out I'd made those transactions they'd go back and withdraw the money, but in the meantime they refunded it.) I was in Las Vegas and they have an office there, so I was able to go straight to their ofice and get replacement cards on the spot.
Credit union is always better
Have you not heard about Frank and his story ?Frank's story is all fake , he even has lied about his fabricated cons.Alan C Logan investigated Frank and Frank was in jail during his teens for petty crimes , such as stealing money from people's houses etc .Frank's story is one fantastic creation, so did not impersonate , a pilot, doctor or lawyer .
Dwight Schrute approves this talk
Bravo!

I don't use credit cards or a cheque book. In the past, I did use a debit card. I use cash.
so in one instance, he says that the breaches that occur happen because of people doing something they shouldn't and that gives hackers access to company files. Then he says that companies fail to update their systems to prevent hackers from getting in... So which one is it?
This guy and his story are so full of it . If you want the truth check out Alan C Logan and Frank Abagnale .
This guy uses a sophisticated shredder, I use a lighter.
That isn't always safe or possible / legal to use for that purpose. In addition, depending on the paper and ink used, a burned sheet is sometimes still readable until it has completely broken down. I am aware of one situation in which photos of burned sheets provided evidence of their content sufficient to be beyond any reasonable doubt.
@@ReflectedMiles legal??? if it is evidence of a crime and you shred it, it is STILL DESTROYING EVIDENCE!!!
if you burn 1 page at a time and then mix the carbon sheets together and grind, there is NOTHING left but ash.
i first shred and mix with previous batches, then put into my pellet mill to make wood pellet fuel!
at one time i was going to start a mobile document shredding company where the customer could watch their documents being shredded and made into fuel! but IM A CONVICTED CRIMINAL MYSELF AND DIDNT LEARN MY LESSON THE FIRST TIME, I WENT TO PRISON SEVERAL TIMES
@@steffybael1245 Yes, it is, assuming that someone knows that is why it is being destroyed. I was referring to the common person assuming that they are getting rid of legal documents that way (not usually criminal in nature) because of the risks of putting them in the trash or recycle. When it was a family dispute over a will and someone managed to take pictures of burned pages before the ash had disintegrated, that turned out to be good enough for the court because it was still legible when enlarged / enhanced.
I'm think of making a video that's just me saying exactly what he's saying and title it "More from Frank Abagnale on identity theft".
You're still thinking about that, aren't you.
@@artytomparis Off and on...
He uses a SUPER SHREDDER!!!
Tension phir bnhda kya kaarye
I never seen that movie.
Get to it then. Coz it's awesome. Young Leo plays Frank.
Get to Alan C Logan and Frank Abagnale and it shows that the real Frank Abagnale is a fraud .@@ragrag5470
This guy would've been a Nobel prize winner in other circumstances...so much intelligent gone for near nothing. Using him for fraud is like using a diamond microscope as a 🔨...at least they had smarts to employ him
No, even his life story is fake , Alan C Logan investigated Frank and Frank never did do the things he claimed to do .He was in jail , during his teens and has never been a fake pilot , doctor , lawyer or professor .
He has educated millions on how to prevent themselves from being defrauded. Far from nothing
He's putting his mind to preventing fraud, educating people, helping businesses stay safe, catching criminals. Sure it's not as glamorous as curing cancer or going to space, but money isn't just paper. Money is food, shelter, it's health plans. And his work has likely prevented thousands -- if not millions -- of bankruptcies and financial ruins over the last 4 decades.
It is not glorious work. But it is important work.
I like at the end where he says we can protect "your personal asses".

But - someone can steal your phone very easily - how do you protect from that, if passwords are a thing of the past? Hmmm 🤔
Well, you'll notice if your phone get stolen, at which point you should call all of your banks and anything else you had on your phone. That'll prevent that phone from accessing those accounts.
Plus the person who has your phone is unlikely to be the same person who buys passwords in bulk online, and vice versa. And without knowing at least your full name -- and preferably your email --, someone can't track down your passwords online, even if they know where to look. Meaning that the biggest risk is not a stranger stealing your phone, but someone you know either stealing or -- more dangerously -- cloning your phone.
Frank has talked in other lectures about the importance of monitoring your credit score and bank statements and all that. If you fall for the latter scam, if you're monitoring all transactions made in your name, you can act right away to cancel those and block the accounts affected.
@@Yodah97 How am I going to call the banks if I don't have my cell phone?
This guy is nearly 80 now and is still a cross between Paul Bunyan and Pinocchio. Once a con man, always a con man. Is there fraud protection against his life story? Yes . A discerning ear and common sense.
They control my iPhone and social accounts 24/7
Hmm, I don't have a smartphone or social media account for anyone to control. Imagine that.
@@dersteppenwolf2340 imagine, get this, your on social media right now(RUclips), probably on your computer, which most likely has had you type your phone number in before. Which still gives hackers access to your personal accounts.
I never stole anyone's identity, but ours was.
But! Relying on your phone for money is very troublesome - it needs battery !
Someone got my old laptop and other information from my storage space.
I find it seriously creepy that I can get a credit card in someone else's name (like you did with your sons) as some parents are NOT good parents.
You have to co-sign for it so your just as liable. That's why he could set the limits and he actually payed the bill to make sure they had excellent credit
Abagnale.com - yeah.....Imma consume his knowledge.....This is not sarcasm...this guy is brilliant.
Check him out on Wikipedia , I thought he was brilliant also , so did Johnny Carson .When Johnny Carson found out the truth , he stopped having him on the show .
A Visa Debit card carries with it the same protection as that given to a Credit Card up to £100 the same protection .
£100 is pocket money. You can’t compare it to credit cards.

You're a lie.
Your Momma Is A Lie.
His past is and there is evidence of that....the extent he actually advises and can take credit for today's security features is up to debate.
@@websoldier4576 Easy debate. He didn't do any of what he said except go to prison for fraud.
