Hi Heidi! The consultant in the video, Sara, is a former French teacher, so don't hesitate to call us or chat and ask for her help! We're glad to hear that this was helpful for you!
My suggestion for a student who is finding this curriculum to be hard, is to slow down. Repeat a lesson until it makes sense to you. Interact with the online component until you get it. Give yourself some grace, but keep plugging away. A typical time frame for this course is about 45 minutes, 3x per week. Maybe adjust to 20-30 minutes every day until you build some forward momentum. You WILL learn the language with this program. Don't give up, just slow the roll for a bit, then pick it back up in a month or so.
I (Sara) am partial to the Larousse bilingual dictionaries for middle and high school students. They have plenty of content for this age and are user-friendly. If you have any other questions, call our free consultants at 888-841-3456 or chat with us on our website at https:www.rainbowresource.com.
With the online access, a student can work independently. Without it, you would need a language teacher to interact with your student. If you have further questions regarding Breaking The Barrier curriculum, you can chat for free with one of our consultants at www.rainbowresource.com or by phone; (888)841-3456
Hi Ms. Bennett! Great question! It depends on the age of your student. If you have a middle schooler who is looking for an introduction to the language, we would recommend this item: www.rainbowresource.com/product/056111/Complete-Italian-Pack-Complete-Language-Packs.html? However, if you have a high schooler who needs a credit, we would recommend Rosetta Stone (www.rainbowresource.com/category/7078/Rosetta-Stone-Homeschool-Version.html) with this book as a supplement (www.rainbowresource.com/product/034135/Italian-Grammar-Drills-Third-Edition.html?) If you have any additional questions, feel free to leave a comment or you can contact our free team of curriculum consultants at 888-841-3456 or live chat via our website!
I ordered the Spanish level one and I am wondering if you have recommendations on breaking the lessons up into daily lesson plans. The suggestions from the author/publisher are somewhat loose and vague and it is difficult for us to plan for this subject.
BTB Spanish has 12 lessons. In a 36 week school year, that works out to 1 lesson every 3 weeks. I often suggest a student work on their Spanish 3x a week for roughly 30-45 minutes. This will get most students through one level in one school year. The introduction portion called the 10 Steps can take anywhere from 1-3 weeks, depending on your student, and they should take their time here. You might even do this portion before the school year really starts if you need to keep to a particular schedule. I hope you find this helpful. If you would like to work this out more please call me (Sara) at 888.841.3456
Thank you for this review. I am searching for a new French curriculum and this one's been on the list, so it's good to hear more about it.

Hello, Thank you for this video introduction to Breaking the Barrier. What is your recommendation for a Bilingual Dictionary?

Very useful video. A question: is it possible to use this program without using the online features with each lesson? Thanks.

This was great, thank you! Any suggestions for Italian- it does not seem to be a popular option in the homeschool world that I can find.
