Since it's not always explained properly. But you are exactly right I submit to my husband because I know that he is submitted to Christ. And He loves me like Christ loves the church. and will lead this family in the right direction. That does not mean that I don't get to have opinions or speak my mind if is something that I might not agree with. But it does mean at the end of it all when we come together as one I trust the decisions that my husband makes for our family. Because I know it is led by Christ direction. And I just want to say that I’m 35, single and happy I get to watch good content to help shape me before I enter a divine Union I watch them, Only One Jess and her husband, Dr. Dharius Daniels and Tony Gaskins (married men of God) on life, relationships and everything between. The pattern is CHRIST. there’s no age or demographic limitation when the principles are biblical and when the wisdom is Godly. It’s amazing watching these two evaluate themselves. I was about to respond with something similar also. I was just thinking about my girlfriend and who submits to who since we're both women haha. Also not being religious I don't follow these but I find it entertaining to watch.
The Bible does say submit to each other. That’s the verse right before the one you guys are talking about. Ephesians 5:21 submit yourselves one to another.
But not in a relationship sense aka the way they were discussing it in the old video (as a boyfriend and girlfriend). This verse is referring to the body of Christ; submitting to your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ is essentially being a team player and acknowledging that you are no better than your fellow brothers and sisters. Then verse 22 then expands on what that looks like in the context of marriage. What Josh and Isi were saying is that the submission referred to from verse 22 onwards about how the man is the head etc is only applicable to the covenant of marriage, which they were not under when they were discussing submission in that sense in the old video. It’s good for the journey and growth to be evident and I think your kids and the future generation would benefit from it cuz you’ll be able to show them that you were once in error but growth is possible. It was interesting to me how Josh said “were in a weird position of being a leader but also submitting to Christ” because all my life I’ve heard that what makes a good leader is their ability to serve others. It has nothing to do with being “right all the time” or being “commanding”. The way I look at it, leadership traits reflect a lot of gods traits. Being kind, serving their community, being loving, etc. I hope I explained that well. Being someone who leads by example … and you need God to show you how to do that. The teacher was once a student. I’ve also heard, “you never stop learning”. So it makes sense that you’d submit to God bc you need that guidance in order to guide others.
Something about what Josh said about him being the first to go down if someone knocked down the door of the house really resonated with me. It really puts a husband's position into perspective and how it relates to the position Jesus was in when he chose to die for the church. Men really choose to die for their wives and families both metaphorically and potentially literally. I love this couple. No harm at all. I was raised extremely religious and always reading the Bible. And I’ll say this, most of the Bible is not literal. It’s metaphorical or allegorical. The story of Eve , Adam and the rib are analogous, not literal. Also, the Bible has been tampered with A LOT so pray and develop a relationship with God yourself. Idk I believe God made man and man made religion…. I question much of it. Some of it doesn’t make sense . Seems like things were positioned for a nefarious purpose. But It’s great to see your own growth but it can be embarrassing too lol Josh was going through it

Hey hey, love the renewing that's taking place, just be careful of watching the old videos, the old man is dead, the trick of the enemy(slippery slope) can lead into condemnation, so just keep that in mind. Something I'm learning is to trust and learn to lean on the Holy Spirit more and more he is the one who transforms us, redeems us, and guides us and he will finish the work he has started in and through you. I remember looking at old videos of me at carnival with barely anything on and all it did was make me sad and I had to remember, I am a new creature in Christ. I am unsure about this new perspective on submission; it seems outdated and conservative compared to your previous views. As a spiritual woman, I understand that the Bible cannot be taken literally in all instances, as it was written and translated during a time with a restrictive view of gender equality. I believe that both partners need to lead their household, meaning both should submit to each other to honor God. The man is not the only direct connection to God within the family, nor should he be placed on the same level as our Lord. Nevertheless, I respect the strong union you both have, and I appreciate how you demonstrate what a loving marriage looks like.

Since women must submit to their husbands, do women have a say in what direction their marriage should go in, do they have opinions, are they able to state their opinions or is that wrong? Can woman give suggestions to their husbands? Can women make their own decisions in their marriage? Can they choose to do things on their own. I’m confused, Like what does submission look like literally in a marriage.
Yes. Except with making our own decisions. Own decisions on what? What to eat for breakfast? Sure. Whether or not to move across the world? No. And big decisions should always be a joint decision with each spouse making consideration for each other. In fact, the scripture actually tells wives and husbands to submit to one another. The full scripture for context is Ephesians chapter 5 verses 21 to 33.
Yes to all of those things. A lot of the time woman can and is more spiritually open (discerning) than the husbands. It’s why God created the wife as a “helpmate.”
Hi, I'm a follower of you guys and have been watching your videos for years, but I'm also older anna christian so one of the the reasons why I liked your video so much is to see a younger couple that had a good understanding of what a relationship was in growing together and building a business and so forth. I didn't exactly agree with this video. When you made it, but that's because I'm older, and had a little bit more life experience than you guys had at that time. And I think the difference is that being equal and being treated as a human being.Is the difference you have to understand the meaning of the words you're using. Being in a relationship is not fifty-fifty, sometimes at some 0.one person can be doing 85% of the work and the other just 15, because that's what's necessary for that period in every relationship you have to work together. There has to be conversation, an understanding on both sides. Communication is a must. Just the same as compromise. And that's a big difference in the world that we live in today. We say, equal, not realizing what it means. Say you want the same choices, not that you want to be equal. Because men and whitmen are built differently for a reason, and because the way that they are built when they unite together, it gives a hundred percent. So I definitely do believe it's the definition of the word and the understanding of the way you're using it, which is the misunderstanding in pretty much any relationship, not only a marriage. But you're definitely right about being equally. Op-ed in a marriage is definitely different from the in our relationship cuz. In a relationship, you can always leave in a marriage. You gotta work that out.Because there shouldn't be any turning back from there

I will say this, there are times when God’s leads us on a pathway that looks uncertain, unsafe and even wrong to our carnal minds and we are called to trust Him even in the unknown. The same goes for a husband and wife relationship that is Christ centred. No one is perfect, your husband will make mistakes and so will your wife. Love, respect and submission is not contingent on feeling safe all the time but a trust and a reliance on God’s word even when you don’t agree with your spouse.
Yallll- I remember watching this video when it came out and knowing immediately it was dodgey, lacking truth and understanding. I remember reading the room in terms of emotions and the as a lukewarm Christian and feminist at the time (not yet understanding biblical femininity yet) I wrestled so hard with God when he told me what “they are in the wrong in this video, I will redeem them”. I pondered that on heart for a minute and then had forgotten about that since. Now fast forward a few years later after watching this the Lord brought me that memory, his Word,like JOUP- “oh yeaaa God say he would redeem them!!” after watching this I heard the Lord say clearly “I am renewing a righteous spirit in them, I have redeemed them”. To see it come to fruition is so beautiful. I envision him being like “Ahh case closed😌*turns page*” and it’s so beautiful to see. He is really building a beautiful home in yall and to know this as just the start..???? 😆 I can’t wait I see why he’s gonna do with y’all! Keep going. In your future studies, I hope you have the opportunity to dig more deeply into the biblical context of Israelite women who were also given the oracles of God to maintain the priesthood of Christ. These women were well-educated and practiced discernment in spirit, home, community and law.

Though at 51 I am quite a bit older than you both, I was a faithful watcher and subscriber of your channel years ago. I especially enjoyed the episodes with Isi's mom. I pray that she is doing well...I enjoyed the dynamic with the both of you with her as well as y'alls interactions. I regretfully unsubscribed however after a video on Isi's channel where my interpretation of the remarks was ladies should use makeup and buy designer fashions to be their best selves. I wanted so bad to say something but I feared being persecuted by very loyal fans...I in fact probably would have been but I wonder if I could have influenced someone to think differently just as I am sure you both have today. I believe as Isi said that God knows the turn around that you both would have and how you would use your platform and voice to right previous information. I admire your humility and obedience that allowed you to make this video. I am also glad to have resubscribed and thankful that your video showed on my feed. One thing I would ask you to prayerfully reconsider is the statement that perfection isn't attainable. The Bible says many times for us to be perfect. God would not put before us a standard which we aren't able to accomplish. We aren't able to accomplish using our own strength but God is able to keep us from falling. Jude 1: 24, 25 Thankfully if we should fall though, He is faithful to forgive. I think this is important because some use the statement that it is impossible not to sin as an excuse to continue in sin or to think that God is not exacting in His standard. The Bible does say submit to each other. That’s the verse right before the one you guys are talking about. Ephesians 5:21 submit yourselves one to another.

But not in a relationship sense aka the way they were discussing it in the old video (as a boyfriend and girlfriend). This verse is referring to the body of Christ; submitting to your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ is essentially being a team player and acknowledging that you are no better than your fellow brothers and sisters. Then verse 22 then expands on what that looks like in the context of marriage. What Josh and Isi were saying is that the submission referred to from verse 22 onwards about how the man is the head etc is only applicable to the covenant of marriage, which they were not under when they were discussing submission in that sense in the old video. Im so sorry if you address this later in the video because im at 29:06 but the verse right above “wives submit to your own husbands” does say “submit yourselves one to another” (Eph 5:21) so the concept of mutual submission is not foreign or unbiblical.

I love the growth I’m seeing in your both. I know you are thinking about taking down your old videos but I don’t think you should. It’s good for the journey and growth to be evident and I think your kids and the future generation would benefit from it cuz you’ll be able to show them that you were once in error but growth is possible.

It was interesting to me how Josh said “were in a weird position of being a leader but also submitting to Christ” because all my life I’ve heard that what makes a good leader is their ability to serve others. It has nothing to do with being “right all the time” or being “commanding”. The way I look at it, leadership traits reflect a lot of gods traits. Being kind, serving their community, being loving, etc. I hope I explained that well. Being someone who leads by example … and you need God to show you how to do that. The teacher was once a student. I’ve also heard, “you never stop learning”. So it makes sense that you’d submit to God bc you need that guidance in order to guide others.

Something about what Josh said about him being the first to go down if someone knocked down the door of the house really resonated with me. It really puts a husband's position into perspective and how it relates to the position Jesus was in when he chose to die for the church. Men really choose to die for their wives and families both metaphorically and potentially literally. That statement triggered a true revelation about the position Jesus was in as well as husbands in the household. Thank y'all for this video. God bless y'all ❤

I love this couple. No harm at all. I was raised extremely religious and always reading the Bible. And I’ll say this, most of the Bible is not literal. It’s metaphorical or allegorical. The story of Eve , Adam and the rib are analogous, not literal. Also, the Bible has been tampered with A LOT so pray and develop a relationship with God yourself.

I think even though you weren’t completely aware of God’s authority you still had so much wisdom you both were blessed with back then. Hey hey, love the renewing that's taking place, just be careful of watching the old videos, the old man is dead, the trick of the enemy(slippery slope) can lead into condemnation, so just keep that in mind. Something I'm learning is to trust and learn to lean on the Holy Spirit more and more he is the one who transforms us, redeems us, and guides us and he will finish the work he has started in and through you. I am unsure about this new perspective on submission; it seems outdated and conservative compared to your previous views. As a spiritual woman, I understand that the Bible cannot be taken literally in all instances, as it was written and translated during a time with a restrictive view of gender equality. I believe that both partners need to lead their household, meaning both should submit to each other to honor God. The man is not the only direct connection to God within the family, nor should he be placed on the same level as our Lord. Nevertheless, I respect the strong union you both have, and I appreciate how you demonstrate what a loving marriage looks like.
This needs to be explained to most Christians but black Christians especially don't like nuance nor fully understanding the history or context and idioms used

To me, I call myself “spiritual” to emphasize that I myself believe in God, and a higher power, but I’m not religious in the sense that I take translation from man with anything more than a grain of salt.

Im not Christian but im curious about it and I have a question about submission. Since women must submit to their husbands, do women have a say in what direction their marriage should go in, do they have opinions, are they able to state their opinions or is that wrong? Can woman give suggestions to their husbands? Can women make their own decisions in their marriage? Can they choose to do things on their own. I’m confused, Like what does submission look like literally in a marriage.
Yes. Except with making our own decisions. Own decisions on what? What to eat for breakfast? Sure. Whether or not to move across the world? No. And big decisions should always be a joint decision with each spouse making consideration for each other. In fact, the scripture actually tells wives and husbands to submit to one another. The full scripture for context is Ephesians chapter 5 verses 21 to 33.
Yes to all of those things. A lot of the time woman can and is more spiritually open (discerning) than the husbands. It’s why God created the wife as a “helpmate.”
Submission doesn't eliminate free will. Just as submission to Christ.

Hi, I'm a follower of you guys and have been watching your videos for years, but I'm also older anna christian so one of the the reasons why I liked your video so much is to see a younger couple that had a good understanding of what a relationship was in growing together and building a business and so forth. I didn't exactly agree with this video. When you made it, but that's because I'm older, and had a little bit more life experience than you guys had at that time. And I think the difference is that being equal and being treated as a human being.Is the difference you have to understand the meaning of the words you're using. Being in a relationship is not fifty-fifty, sometimes at some 0.one person can be doing 85% of the work and the other just 15, because that's what's necessary for that period in every relationship you have to work together. There has to be conversation, an understanding on both sides. Communication is a must. Just the same as compromise. And that's a big difference in the world that we live in today. We say, equal, not realizing what it means. Say you want the same choices, not that you want to be equal. Because men and whitmen are built differently for a reason, and because the way that they are built when they unite together, it gives a hundred percent. So I definitely do believe it's the definition of the word and the understanding of the way you're using it, which is the misunderstanding in pretty much any relationship, not only a marriage. But you're definitely right about being equally. Op-ed in a marriage is definitely different from the in our relationship cuz. In a relationship, you can always leave in a marriage. You gotta work that out.Because there shouldn't be any turning back from there
I love this for you both. Wow the growth is amazing! Thank you for sharing this with us. I will say this, there are times when God’s leads us on a pathway that looks uncertain, unsafe and even wrong to our carnal minds and we are called to trust Him even in the unknown. The same goes for a husband and wife relationship that is Christ centred. No one is perfect, your husband will make mistakes and so will your wife. Love, respect and submission is not contingent on feeling safe all the time but a trust and a reliance on God’s word even when you don’t agree with your spouse.
Yallll- I remember watching this video when it came out and knowing immediately it was dodgey, lacking truth and understanding. I remember reading the room in terms of emotions and the as a lukewarm Christian and feminist at the time (not yet understanding biblical femininity yet) I wrestled so hard with God when he told me what “they are in the wrong in this video, I will redeem them”. I pondered that on heart for a minute and then had forgotten about that since. Now fast forward a few years later after watching this the Lord brought me that memory, his Word,like JOUP- “oh yeaaa God say he would redeem them!!” after watching this I heard the Lord say clearly “I am renewing a righteous spirit in them, I have redeemed them”. To see it come to fruition is so beautiful. I envision him being like “Ahh case closed😌*turns page*” and it’s so beautiful to see. He is really building a beautiful home in yall and to know this as just the start..???? 😆 I can’t wait I see why he’s gonna do with y’all! Keep going. Keep pursuing Christ individually and together.💪🏾❤️

In your future studies, I hope you have the opportunity to dig more deeply into the biblical context of Israelite women who were also given the oracles of God to maintain the priesthood of Christ. These women were well-educated and practiced discernment in spirit, home, community and law.

Though at 51 I am quite a bit older than you both, I was a faithful watcher and subscriber of your channel years ago. I especially enjoyed the episodes with Isi's mom. I pray that she is doing well...I enjoyed the dynamic with the both of you with her as well as y'alls interactions. I regretfully unsubscribed however after a video on Isi's channel where my interpretation of the remarks was ladies should use makeup and buy designer fashions to be their best selves. I wanted so bad to say something but I feared being persecuted by very loyal fans...I in fact probably would have been but I wonder if I could have influenced someone to think differently just as I am sure you both have today. I believe as Isi said that God knows the turn around that you both would have and how you would use your platform and voice to right previous information. I admire your humility and obedience that allowed you to make this video. I am also glad to have resubscribed and thankful that your video showed on my feed.
One thing I would ask you to prayerfully reconsider is the statement that perfection isn't attainable. The Bible says many times for us to be perfect. God would not put before us a standard which we aren't able to accomplish. We aren't able to accomplish using our own strength but God is able to keep us from falling. Jude 1: 24, 25
Thankfully if we should fall though, He is faithful to forgive.
I think this is important because some use the statement that it is impossible not to sin as an excuse to continue in sin or to think that God is not exacting in His standard.
