one of the reason why i want a 3d printer.
Fun project, I''m making one for our shop at school. Thanks for the tutorial!
Awesome! Good luck
I think contrast is key in the colour choice here, so with this light wood the black hangers looks better - but if you make a new one with a dark wood my guess would be that the white ones will look clean 👌
And also, 50% infill sounds like a lot! Try printing one with like 10% and see if it holds up for your usage. It will shorten your print time significantly and probably hold no problem 😊
Thanks for the comment Gustav. The 50% infill was definitely over kill. On IG I did a test of the hook and it held well over 50lbs of weight. Which was definitely more then it needed to be. I had to put my body weight on it to eventually break it. Also agree about the contrasting colors too.
5% infill for a hat hanger lol
Good stuff. I like the black for contrast.
YungassPadawan I like it too, I been wanting to make some hooks with multiple layer colors. Just haven’t gotten around to it
GREAT PROJECT! I happened on this while trying to find projects with double sided French cleats. I actually had a hard time finding it. This helped me find the solution I was looking for even though what I want to do is actually completely different. Thanks
Thanks! you peak my interest whatcha making?
@@3ddiy I am thinking about hanging a wall mounted boom arm for cameras and light fixtures on a French cleat rail spanning the length of my studio. It would have lock on somehow since the weight would reach out as far as 72” from the wall. A double sided French cleat seems like a good solution. I’d have to build a cleat bracket for the mounting plate if the boom arm, and I might try to spring load that to grip the cleat rail.
@@patbollin is the ceiling not an option? Cause you can do double sided cleats and let gravity do it’s thing. Most studios do a pipe grid on top. I understand it can be less flexible with moving it as if it was on a wall. But the floor space would still be open. I have a photo background so not unfamiliar with being on set and lighting equipment.
@@3ddiy a pipe grid is another option I’m considering. In my last studio I put up two 4ft pipes that were about 4ft apart. Then I designed and built 2 adapter plates from mdf and wheel bearings to connect a 4ft camera slider to it. So basically it was a ceiling mounted, two way camera slider. I think I might do that again, but this time with 10ft pipes. The cleat system is an idea I’m considering to augment that.
@@patbollin check out instagram.com/agduzit?igshid=n0wqzpfekpv9 in his stories check out the Woby camera jig. He makes a track in his studio and this diy camera jig from Woby designs. It’s a pretty sweet diy set up.
Definitely going to make something like this! Thank you for the inspiration!
Pretty cool project! Might look into that myself.
If you do please share!
Love this process...fun to watch!
Nice video! Keep up the great work.
Pretty cool. Can't wait to see more.
Christopher Thompson thanks for checking it out!
Very cool idea and great video !
Thank you! Cheers!
Best. Video. Ever.
Xavier Osuna haha that sounds like sarcasm
Very good project and video as well! I look forward to watching the next one ;) Greetings from Italy
Filippo Mancini thanks for watching!
Un trabajo perfecto 👌preciosa percha.
👍👍👍
Awesome stuff! Did you have an issue with the hooks sliding around?
I had a really tight fit. Depending on when you make yours. you can just sneak up on the cut for the wood. Or you can scale the size of the hooks to get the perfect fit. In the video I show you how I printed just a few layers and stopped the print. to get a good test fit.
Cool video! I like the attention to detail. Just wondering, I never use a mask during woodworking but I see you do, should I use one?
Overtime people can develop a allergic reaction to the dust from the wood. Also if you're cutting plywood there are toxic chemicals in the glue that should not be inhaled.
Yes, you absolutely should! Sawdust particles cause cancer. They cut the DNA in your lungs. Google it.
Especially with hardwood dust you should be carful. It is not know how but probalby wood additives can lead to cancer. So better be safe. Also wood dust can cause asthma.
@@3ddiy okay, good to know, I started reading about masks and stumbled upon the Bill Pentz website about woodworking dust and it seems to be pretty bad for you. I ordered a particle counter and a respirator.
This is a really nice design!
I like the sparkles in the filament,
which brand did you use for this project?
I might make this for my apartment.
Edward Wong it’s Prusament Galaxy black. I love it too.
How about an end piece with no hanger, to end the wood
Remix it!
Just though of an idea that you could make the hooks like caps on the end of each side, so you wouldn't see the cutten wood.
Thats a really interesting idea. The model should be live on thingiverse now. You can try your hand at a remix of it!
How do you like the saw stop job site saw? I noticed that you work a lot with plywood, but does it do well with thicker boards as well? I just stumbled on your channel earlier and I really like it. Thanks for the nice videos!
I love it! I unfortunately got it before the update. The issues I had with it were addressed in the newer job site pro. As for cutting as long as you are using the right blade and not abusing it with anything your not suppose to be cutting on it. It works great. I have resawn some lumber but did it in multiple passes and flipped it over end to end to do the other side. Works well. If you got a small space and safety is a priority then this is it.
@@3ddiy thanks for the tips! Have a good day!
What’s the make/model of your watch?
Omega speed master day/date
Cool, side question: whats the name of those shelves you got? is it a kit or DIY too?
The shelving system is made by a company called Vitsoe that were originally designed by Dieter Rams.
Mine works too. I used the Woodglut plans and performed it without any problems.
Not using the stud finder on yourself and making beeping noises 1/10.
Lolz I have done it on my self about 10 years ago and I remember the results. Don’t need to do it again. I have been consistently awesome.
