Remember when PoC had little stories for the characters? Those were sweet. Could we at least get those back?
Omg yes. I want some history at least from Aatrox that involves him screaming his lungs out battling everyone in his line of sight
That's what why miss the most about PoC...
We cant since the lore team was included in the layoff too
@Baratinha wgere did you see that?
@@sneakysunset1765The information about the fired developers.
Don't ruin this legendary game ,we love it , Runeterra helped so many people in hard times ,Hope the game will live as long as possible 🙏
The problem is that a lot of champions require certain cards to make and archetype like viego and lurk so a lot of decks build themselves and I think people loved the freedom of being able to combine different champions together. That's why the first few expansions were great the champions were very open to being able to build decks with like karma, tryndamere
Back to gloom n doom then
You act like they're choosing this outcome. This outcome was forced on them because they aren't making ends meet.

I knoow, right?? That's my one big problem with poc, that i cannot create my own deck for it
PoC is very much still deck building...but in a roguelike aspect
it's not up to them
@@DeinzKreideprinz I know, just thought it was ironic and wanted to mention it. I like PoC so I'm hopeful for these changes, but my main gripe with the mode is how little you can change your deck and how much you are at the mercy of the garbage that sometimes fall in you lap because cutting cards is so rare. Used all your rerolls looking for a playable power? "Have three garbage champion options that you will pollute your deck with unsynergistic garbage"
They desperately need some deckbuilding aspect to PoC. Like allowing you to customize your base deck.
why is the tone so similar to that of a funeral :(
that's what it felt like to me as well, no music background, everyone talking like they are forced to be there or like they didn't want this to happen to LoR, gives some eerie vibes
@@symphonixblades Well i mean, they didn't want it to happen tho? So... I think it's accuratte, regardless, i'll still have my hopes for Riot

Cuz game is dead
Legends of Runeterra is an amazing game. As a (now former) Hearthstone player, It was amazing to see the announcement of the game and then later play the beta. The game single-handedly made me quit HS which I had spent years and a lot of money on, and It even got me interested in the world and lore of Runeterra, so much so that I started playing League shortly after, and I still play regularly to this day. LoR will always hold a special place in my heart, and I hope it never goes away completely. It's bittersweet, but I'm excited to see what the future holds for the best f2p card game ever made. Thank you for everything!
Couldn't of said it better myself
Well with LoR pvp not just being sidelined but looks to not be receiving any updates past the next card set I want to say thank you to the wonderful devs that worked on this game for the past 4 years. This game was truly something amazing and how it defied CCG norms in an amazing way. Sad to say, but since I'm not a PvE player this is my goodbye to LoR. The game that truly deserved better.
Same
It’s unfortunate that money just didn’t do money things. Like they coulda definitely made the micro transactions better, but overall it is generally a great game that just wasnt greedy enough. GG LoR pvp, the pve looks really challenging and sick tho so I’m happy for the pve players.
@@RaphDeGrate As a PVE player, I thank you and I am very execited for new changes.
Would u recommend me anything that's on your list if u decided to still play another ccg game?
As much it pains me to see Riot only doing this after the lay offs and the long lack of attention for the game, I like seeing you guys giving your all, I hope the game manages to become better, a dark year wait for Riot ahead this year. But I sure you guys at LoR team will give your best shot as always.
Eh kumagawa
all i learned from this is that lissandra is coming to PoC as a boss battle and they're increasing the champion stars in PoC from 3 to six

@@khan6690 "people like me who only play PoC saved it" lol LITERALLY the game is dead now. How did you save it by playing a different game?
This is absolutely where they are wrong I think... looking at stats while forgetting the gameplay loop / why they are the way they are
That's the point. PoC have a lot of missions to do, obviously people will play more matches and more hours, but only for the rewards. Community always asked Riot for better prizes for ranked, but they keep giving icons and prismatic cards. If there are a REAL prize (like a nice cardback or a special board) people no doubt would play more PVP than PVE.
It was very interesting seeing Eric and Marc talking about LOR mechanics like portals and laughing because they love the game and play the game, and then seeing Andrei and Dave sitting there stone faced, quickly moving on to talking about Arcane. This interview makes it appear that the higher ups hate the game. This video has the same vibes as a parent teacher conference
You should become a psychologist. Getting so much out of such a short video. Truly impressive.
its true, i giggles when they talked about norra cuz ive ben enjoying her so much
While i would take any chance to hate on rich people, Andrei himself is answering right now questions on reddit about path, so, i would say he is commited at a relevant level.

I wish riot had some huge established games, maybe like some of the biggest games in the world. If they had that they could have advertised LoR on them, but alas, small indie company.
Did you forget how LoR was released? It basically had the best promotion ever, the reality is that card games are pretty niche so even though a vast majority of people that play league tried the game, they just didnt stick with it

LoR mentioned!
The years I've spent playing Runeterra were some of the best of my life. I hit Masters many times, competed against the best in the world and joined a fantastic community. I played every day in 2022 and until August 2023. It's sad to see it end and I'll miss it for a long time
If the focus is going to be on Path, they should give us a custom deck-building option. Zoe and Norra are perfect for the mode, glad to hear Norra's otw. Zoe needs to be in there too
This reminds me of what happened with Orcs Must Die Unchained. Started with PVP which everyone loved, shifted to PVE losing all existing players and not gaining new ones, and then got killed. IMO the player base simply doesn't tend to transfer in this situation. PVP and PVE players are different.
The thing is, PVE player base in LoR has already been overshadowing the PVP crowd for a while...
@@misterpreposterous5771 Because LOR was a hard game, and PVE let you feel like you knew how to play. Not much more to say than that.
@@Hahahahaaahaahaa the main issue for me that won't let me enjoy pvp is players who takes ages to do their turn, it happens like quite few time when i push the rank, so kinda frustrating
But the issue is that the number of LOR PvE players has always been significant, even when it's just a demo mode. I'm sure I would prefer a new development direction rather than facing off against Karma/Sett for 25 minutes straight.
I wouldn't compare the two directly since OMD Unchained turned into an entirely different game, they reworked the whole concept and that's why the people left. LoR still works the same, just against different opponents.
This scares me. Not the fact that they are focusing on pve but the way they are doing it and how they are presenting it. I have a few resons losted below.
1. The original people who were the faces of the game aren't here anymore. I know its due to the people getting laid off but they could have at least mentioned them and told us that it was they who pushed for the game to be made.
2. The focus on pve. This could be fine, but all we got on info for this was Lissandra coming as the Freljord boss (finally), that they're giving every champion 6 stars instead of 3, and that they are adding champions to the mode but the only champs they mentioned of adding was Aatrox and Norra who were already apart of PoC.
3. Why were Meddler and Tryndamere there? This is basically saying that either a) they lost basically every other person who was connecting with the LoR community and they needed to be there for moral support or b) they were there just to make sure they couldn't talk with the players in earnest like the LoR team always has.
4. This felt too staged. It felt like a distraction from the actual problem that both LoR and its community is facing. Its like trying to hide the fact that your uncle has cancer and is dying in the next 3 months with him feigning feeling fine even though you can see something clearly wrong with him.
5. There was no discussion about monetization. Everyone kniws that LoR isnt making money. And there have been multiple people giving suggestions for what they would like to spend money on besides just the cards. Better cosmetics, animated cards, more boards, more companions, getting the ability to buy chests outright, allowing everyone to have access to all the cards when a new set comes out, and thise are just what i can name off the top of my head. The fact they didnt talk about that at all, means that they intend to not help the game which is what i would expect they would do since two of the people who are the faces and have control over riot games were in this video to talk about the future of LoR.
6. This didnt feel like an update more like burial. The game is going on "maintenance mode" meaning they basically have no freedom to do anything but what the big wigs tell them to do, and the whole vibe of this just felt like soneone lying directly to my face. Personally, this feels like they are just saying "There is no one else here, we still want to support the game but we arent going to support it anymore.
Well, half of your queries can be answered on the news article they submitted on their LOR website.
@@hitmanabhi007 answered but not satisfying. Because basically what all of this is saying, is that riot doesn't want to invest in LoR. Cutting out all it's staffers and not giving them the resources necessary to survive. Only the barest of bare minimum to stay functioning.
Edit: I know that this is the point they're trying to tell us. It doesn't make it hurt any less.
Path of Champions is played more because its easier to gain experience towards chests. Why would I play PVP matches where i can lose and get 100xp when i can get 200xp from winning path of champions garaunteed. You guys are looking at data without understanding the why. PVP would be more popular or played more if you elevated the experience gained from matches. Not only that, but during expansions and their quests, its 1000x easier to finish quests in POC and vs AI than against other players. I honestly think you guys are focusing more on PVE not because of higher play rates, but because its way easier to monetize. I totally get that, but id rather you guys just came out and said "Yeah we're losing tons of money. So we're focusing on POC to make more money and keep the game afloat." My only question would then be "Once the game is making more money, are you gonna go back to focusing on PVP or are you strictly staying PVE?"
Yup, this is it. Not that there are not only PoC playrers, but a lot of players simply play PoC to grind more easily or play something more relaxing between competitive matches. It's like ARAM in LoL. Now imagine, if they said we are cutting out ranked to focus on ARAM
Probably the best comment I seen here.
ARAM has never once had more players than ranked in league so this doesn't really hold up. PvE has had consistently much more players and much more time spent in it.@@Oncus2

almost always when I play this mode I easily get 1k to 2k xp without difficulties, the missions in my opinion are easy and very rewarding
As a poc player getting new champions is always cool.Idk about the 6 stars though since you can already be incredibly strong with just 3. 6 just sounds like extreme overkill (ofc this is without knowing anything about them), especially when you consider that what's missing the most is where you can use these champions. A new big bad was long overdue..I just hope that we get more adventures in the future. Hope the game stays alive just for a little while longer
The weekly 6 star challenge will change your mind ! But if they added 6 stars to fight lissandra and tested it, she might be really tough

Twas fun while it lasted, very fun even, one of the few times I've been genuinely impacted by a game burning down, I'll post my experiences here for posterity.
Got to know the game through a magic youtuber around 4 years back, loved every single thing about the game, spent an embarrassing amount of time in my early days just staring at the art. When it came to competitive, the game had everything a gamer could want, and the combination of the voice acting + visuals could keep you hooked even during a slog of a match, the complexity of the game was a turnoff for plenty of folk, I quite enjoyed the mindgames and subgames any given match of LoR could produce between different archetypes, and learning these gamestates your deck can produce against other contenders was dope.
loved playing Shen/Fiora at its prime, strong, consistent and robust with an honest gameplan that diverged from the pure bannerman Demacia decks at the time. My first masters grind was one of the most rewarding experiences In my gaming career, staying sharp in a game as intense as LoR for 6 hours straight for 3 days each is tough, but when I finally did, I went for a 2 hour walk just running through the diamond games in my head, just processing the face that I was here.
In the end tho, I don't really have nearly as much to say as I thought I did, I've lost a hobby, I've lost a community and I've lost watching Alan play spooky Karma, I'll miss ya'll, cya

While I had some critiques about some decisions they did (or rather didn't in most cases), LoR was still the most enjoyable CCG experience I've ever had. I'll always look back fondly at what Riot achieved in this beautiful game and wish the best of luck for their restructuring of the game.
Thank you for many hours upon hours of ejnoyment.

As someone who only cares about PoC, I'm sorry for those who liked the PvP, but I'm happy with where the game is going.
Aurelion Sol was released as the potentially strongest champ with 4 star powers and now we are getting all champs going up to 6 stars ..... The grind never ends .....
This is devastating to hear. When MTG started turning to collaborations because of the money hunger execs and Hearthstone started to get overrun by bots and plagued by Blizzard's awful practices, LoR was there for me and became my absolute favorite CCG, not even a little contested. Id get even more excited for LoR expansions that i would for a new league champ release. Literally no one does it like you guys.
Makes sense. I'm here for it. When I experienced Path of Champions for the first time, it reminded me of MtG's Shandalar + Roguelike card builder games (ex. Slay the Spire). I knew it would be a popular mode but I never expected it to be the EDH of LoR (i.e. more popular than the standard pvp mode)
That's all, folks! It's been a nice ride
As part of the minotiry of exclusively PVP players that hasn't played much in the last months, this is what it would need to happen for me to get interested in PVE and Path of Champions.:
-A greater focus on the narrative. Early PoC experiences had mini-stories of champions like Jinx and Jayce as you played along the different sections. I got into LoR because I was interested on the lore and characters of Runeterra. So if we aren't getting more big card packs telling bits and pieces of a narrative, it would be nice to at least see more elaborated ones on PoC.
-A greater control over how to build your decks on PoC. Many times your options as you build along are very limited, and if you get only bad on uninteresting options, bad luck. The deckbuilding there is practically non-existant.
LoR is one of the games I have dedicated the most hours too, and it would be a shame to see it simply go by the wayside.
Sadly the Riot suits pretty much killed off their lore department from what we know, so PoC is almost certainly going to be focused on auto-generated content and grind, with no future story or lore content. The PoC 1.0 stories were incredible, as a new player I was really looking forward to more of them.
More about the FAQ article, but I’d like to say the main reason I love the game is that F2P friendly aspect of it. It really deviates from the standard CCG with card acquisition and you can realistically get everything, in reasonable time, just by playing the game. To understand that is part of the thing that makes the game unsustainable is a hard pill to swallow. I truly hope this bet on PVE pays off, just so I can see the original ideal of an actual non-predatory card game survive.
Poc is not going to be f2p friendly anymore. Riot already said they are focusing more on earning money through the game and now there's constellations you can probably guess what will happen next, money or 20 weeks for a 6 star probably
These guys have some some serious chops nailing all the points on the teleprompter, while having their hands superglued to their knees.

Ngl I reckon a shifting of resources to path of champions near exclusively is a huge, huge mistake. There simply isn't enough in path of champions to support the game if the standard PvP mode dries up

I WANT the Riot finally develop the in-game interface for "listening to the community": there should be some kind of "workshop" where any player can develop their own cards, saving them, listing them to everyone in a hope of getting enough upvotes from other players. Periodically, the developers will be taking, for example, top 5 most upvotes cards from that workshop to use them as a reference for the future cards. Also, the workshop will have the functionality to "modify" the existing cards by needing, buffing, or reworking it's effect, and these modifications will be listed in a separate pool of cards in that workshop. The top 5 of the most upvotes changes will be applied. Of course, there should be also minimum amount of upvotes required for the change or card idea for this to be triggered. This may be 500, for example. What ya say, isn't my idea precious 💕?
Riot is LoR's biggest enemy
"We tried a lot of things to try and grow the audience". My brother in christ the new player experience was literally broken for two years. Most tutorials didnt even work. Obviously doing nothing didn't work.
I love Path of the champion. I understand that building your own deck is a fun part of CCGs but I did that in MtG, yugioh and force of will for many years now and I am tired, I now leave the deckbuilding to others and then just "netdeck" the "best" deck that fits my playstyle. therefore the roguelite nature of PotC feels amazing to me because I can't always have the cards or powers that I want so I have to be flexible and adjust the way I play on the fly. even the same adventure with the same champion and the same Items can feel totally different with different powers and cards and another partner champion.
Would be hard to balance deckbuilding anyway with the powers and relics. I think that's why deck cutting is minimal.
Lor pvp is my fav game for so many years now i cant belive whats happening
When will android version have 60 fps?
I regret playing tPoC when bored of certain metas, because it enabled the mindset they seem to have adopted, that people WANT more tPoC. That's not what most of us want. We just want to be able to play our favorite decks and for there to be better balance between them. I love playing wacky combos like Kalista printing funny units like Maduli, or Master Yi multiattack with Scout/Cataclysm/Tumble. But these decks usually pale in comparison to more tuned and newer (Read: power creep) decks. So when I get tired of being beaten by GEM, or Lulu/Jinx, or Liss/Trundle, numerous times in a row, I'd spend more time playing tPoC waiting for balance changes. Not because I enjoy tPoC more, but because I enjoy LoR and am just waiting for the next balance patch or set to hopefully give new tools to my favorite decks to help them compete.
The devs see this as "let's focus on tPoC, PvP is dead"
RIP LoR.
The only issue i currently have with the amazing gamemode that is PoC is that its urging me to upgrade the star power of my champs when Ive happen to have all the shards for it. But sometimes, I dont want to level them up and instead keep the increased difficulty of the runs with them. If there was a way to mute the levelup-notification or play games with reduced star power even after leveling up, that would be great.
Disappointed to see CEO man in a disscussion that could have been lively without the manipulation

I am VERY excited for the path of chamions update but its kinda bittersweet since new stuff for pvp will be slowing down
Yall need to refund the people who have already spent money on the PVP aspect of this game. Riot has NO IDEA what they are doing anymore
I do wonder if they're going to reduce the grind as well since for me who has been grinding for a long time i almost have all star levels but for new players it's gonna be so difficult to get all champs to 3 stars especially 6 stars
I am really sad because I was only playing Ranked and had so much fun with it, but atleast this beautiful game isn't killed. Thank you for everything ❤️

Love you guys
I quit.
To give you a counter narrative to PoC, what I'd love from this game is a social hub where I can find and communicate with fellow players and play with them organically. Many 2d fighting games do this by letting you move about a hub as a chibi character, chatting, reacting and playing games on stations. A dream scenario would be the ability to walk around in a Zaun-like hub as a Teemo chibi character and be able to challenge opponents to a duel after making a ridiculous sticker motion at them. I can only imagine this is what other players would want too, it would set this game apart from any other card game in the market for sure, even if I can't imagine it would be feasible given the state of things.
Another thing I'd love is a drafting mode where deck building and exploration is a key component of the progression. One reason why PoC is so succesful I fell is because it almost does this. The only thing missing there is the pvp aspect. One "problem" with normal pvp is the overall solved meta decks you might meet if you're a more casual player, drafting would do a lot of things to alleviate this and make the gameplay less about what you bring in of pre-analysis and more what you can do on the fly. Another "problem" that pvp has that PoC solves for the casual player is the progression aspect. Every pvp game is essentially a reset, even if you gain in rank, wheras PoC has a deeper and more visible progression model. I feel like a drafting mode can utilise the same mechanisms PoC does to utilise the strengths of both PoC gameplay and pvp.
PoC is great, it's an amazing experience to go through, but I fear that you might be putting to much emphasis on buffing a car that is already shiny, new and had its oil changed. What I'm saying is, be careful of putting too much faith in PoC as the mainstay of LoR as a game. I comlpetely respect the willingness to pivot and apply energy in where the players are at, but it's equally important to see why those players are there and to what degree that will last in the future.
"we tried a lot of things to get new players", lmao, literally name ONE.
どのような形であれ、楽しんで続けていくつもり。好きなゲームなので。
Oh thank god, the game's not dead
Lol. No one said POC was dying.
spiritually, it is
Bring a mode inside poc that allow you to make a deck with powers from different champions.
Will be the best for those that come from pvp and still want the crafting.
“Get excited” yeah okay.
After watching the video and reading the FAQ I have come to the conclusion that if PoC did not exist, LoR would have died months ago, PoC only gave them a reason to try to keep it, I imagine that many people will have a hard time accepting that truth and will only see PoC as the reason LoR died, but interestingly it's the complete opposite
If they did tried anything, and I mean anything since beta. PvP would be here still and the game might have been at least generate more profit.
They didn't do anything for the game except watching it die in silence.
i think poc was so popular because it was a great tool for grinding cards to use in pvp
Unfortunately, this marks the end of my LoR career. I have 0 interest in PvE, so this game isn’t for me anymore. I had fun. Ty devs for making an amazing game. I wish you nothing but success.
RIP Legends of Runeterra
One thing I'm curious about, can the players of PoC expect some amount of animations on cards to be added at *some* point in the future? Mostly curious because with the flow of newer cards slowing, and with most of us seeing similar things in our PoC runs, I would think it's not an unrealistic thing to wonder about.
So no news on what will happen to PVP. Ridiculous
Text size on mobile is too small. It is an issue since the release. Please fix it. You can look Hearthstone’s ui for example.
I just wanna know if we'll be getting new cards?
They said we're getting new champs. Can't imagine they wouldn't give us support cards for their archetypes
One more expack (ever) and then they said they might be releasing more cards and champs further along but not actual expansions anymore just the little card drops
Will be reduced but there will still be new champs and cards
@@zwiebeldogsjust like aphelious I suppose. He came with like 8 support cards
Marc Merrill looking real comfortable for a guy who just threw over FIVE HUNDRED people out of their jobs. Must be because he's safe in the knowledge that no matter how painfully necessary it is to fire actual game developers for "sustainability" it will somehow, magically, NEVER be necessary to cut HIS pay package and HIS bonuses.
this game helped me through the covid
I hope all of the people behind this decision decide to keep themselves safe.
They fired them already along with the mmo crew. Thats what they wont tell you
i think players play poc not because they like it but because they wanna collect cards by completing daily missions and daily bonus win
Just my case, I love LoR for the artworks and the champions and creatures with unique abilities, but I don't find it as fun to play as other card games.
@@JacobSparks23I love its art too
Cope
Please just put the game in the main league client permanently, that would seriously help get more players into the game, I know tons of people that play league and TFT all the time that has no idea that the LoR even exists. You have the platform right there just do it already!
Couple of feedback points if there even is anyone to read them:
- Path of champions - tried it - looks super fun and promising but incredibly boring at start. It's slow, it's easy it's just mind numbing and I could never get to the fun part.|
- PVP and Ranked - Majority of LoR card are underpowered. If you are not using a Meta deck you cannot have any fun in the game as you just lose. Every new season there is a new meta. If you don't catch up immediately you never will. Game balance is the problem, it pushes players away, it's not like they actively chose not to play PVP, it's the fact that PVP is bad
Just make paik × rek'sai deck, it's always in meta.
@@levvoloshnuk7580 i used to play a lot of spiders or ephemeral with Heca. Now These are just joke concepts that you'll probably be reported for trolling if you try them.
So are we getting refunds for all the cosmetics we've purchased since they're effectively useless now?
😢 you guys save lol, wr, and tft but LoR ???
Those other games are clearly more profitable than LoR is in its current state, still sad to see it go down this way though
I've been here since the early beta, I've been a believer in the game for so long. I hate card packs and it's a sobering and depressing reality that your business model fighting against that repressive standard has ultimately failed. You guys need to make money and you deserve to make a living, you're so good at what you do. I tried, I bought every event pass, I am sorry it wasn't enough. Thank you for giving us this incredible game and trying to do something new. I'll be around in PoC and continue to support the game and I hope you guys are able to find the monetary success you've been missing because you deserve it.
You NEED to make money from this game to keep running it up. I know, you had a player based approach but this kinda kills the economy of the game. In other card games, getting new cards is amazing. you feel good for unlucking the card you wanted for a while. But in runeterra, its kinda boring tbh. Players have a lot of resources, they can the every single new card in a expension. And it becomes boring rather than excited.
So, PLEASE fix this riot, we dont want to see this game dying. This is my first and favorite card game but its economy should be fixed.
Bruv Runeterra's economy is one of the best among ccgs
Loved this game so much its sad seeing it go away like that , it was a good ride
When you kill competitive you kill the game etc. hearthstone
Riot:
*doesn’t promote the game*
*fires a bunch of people*
*has limited monetization*
“I wonder why LoR isn’t doing well”
this game could reach the level of MTG in any moment with all the cool stuffs cards illustration, balances, card combo … but riot are still focusing on the wrong side of the game, POC, stop focusing on that mode because it’s just a game mode, we use that for farm exp, and focus on pvp and a new collection system and make this game the greatest digital TCG
Runterra is (was?) a pure brilliant. My top-3 of all time. Such clever design, such versatile decks - a true masterpiece. So sad to hear all that news.. rip. It's a PvP game made with PvP in mind - PvE will never replace it. Thank you guys! /bow
yea lor is dead, people like PvE but its a CARD GAME ... pls focus on the PVP CARD GAME...
Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened! Will miss you guys!
Marc and Dave deserve whatever phreak got through x100 times yeah
I just don't like that I can only farm 4 shards per day. I finished all paths but there is a ton of champs I still haven't unlocked. So maybe a little more rewarding daily grind might be good so people can try every champ without having to spend 2 months farming shards.
Based!
Lissandra is SOOOO easy to beat. Alredy beat her with 3 drifferent 3 start champs, then got bored.
Imagine not polishing PoC and charging for it and then complaining the game doesn't make any money when the area that has more players in it isn't monetized. Back to MTGA we go.
