Now is the time to buy them. They are pretty cheap now. The value of them will only continue to climb as time goes by. They are cheaper to maintain and repair too. When my 3rd gen Ram died, i went out and specifically went back to the 2nd generation model. Its just a much better truck, in practically every way possible. I hope you find one.

@@oreoscadoosh3360 I have a 3/4 ton dodge ram, its a 2001 SLT Laramie 4x4. It also has a 4 inch lift. It has the 5.9 liter V8 gasoline engine. Currently i have the BFG K02 all terrain tires in 285 75R 16. I found it at a used car lot in Lakewood Colorado. The asking price was $6,000. The breaks were shot, the steering had about 4 inches of play in it, and the transfer case seals were leaking, but only had about 100,000 miles on it. The body and interior is in great shape. The engine, transmission, and drive train are in excellent mechanical shape. I had to spend a little bit of money fixing it up, but got it restored. I had to replace every part of the steering mechanism. I put Moog brand parts in it, and, surprisingly, they were not as expensive as i thought it would be. I really enjoy this truck, and i drive it around town every time i go somewhere locally. It is fantastic in mud, snow, ice, dirt, pavement. Im keeping this one and will not be getting another truck unless this one is destroyed. It is so much better than the 2003 ram i had, or even the 2010 model a relative of mine had. My 2001 ram has electric locks and windows, manual 4x4 shifter, and very few sensors that trigger that pesky check engine light. I love this truck.
@@MrTruckTV we have a 1996 extended cab without the rear door(s) (I don't know if they were on both sides on the 2001.) with the 6.5' box with the 360. It has 251,500+ miles on the original engine, but it's on it's 4th transmission. It was on it's second transmission when we got it. The engine holds over 40 lbs of oil pressure still and doesn't burn any oil. Those transmissions and 4wd levers being vacuum operated to the front axle are it's weak points for sure. Lots of rust with those thin bodies and being in Illinois and Wisconsin a good bit of it's life too. It fits 33x12.5R-15's pretty easily. It has aftermarket aluminum alloy wheels, factory was 16" wheels. We have Federal Couragia MT's on ours. My dad and I always said the second generation reminded us of the ugly 1970's and 1980's Mercedes-Benz cars like Tommy's. Lol! We didn't like them very much, but it was the only thing affordable at the time at $1500.00.
I bought this same exact truck with 118,xxx miles. Put set of tires replace high pressure fuel line, replace rear brake cylinder. Other than she is clean no rust. I'm loving my old ram. Hope you get another!
Have a short bed, standard cab, 4wd, 318. Bought it with 117k miles, original owner for $1200, but the paint , headliner & driver's seat were dead. Over the 6.5 years of ownership, it's been painted a cool tutone, new tires, brake hoses, did the interior, has tight Rancho shocks, cat-back Magnaflow exhaust with tips (plumbing trade with muffler shop owner), Akibono pads & RotorPro rotors, new HD swaybar end links & poly bushings, all consumable parts replaced. It's a great truck, no issues
They’re reliable, sturdy and easy to fit. Use OEM sensors, baby the auto trans and it’ll be happy. Dash cracks but you can get a dash cover. They’re cheap and get the job done. Gas milage sucks but it’s a v8, interior is comfy. Swap out radio n speakers n it’ll be a nice ride. Heatercore usually fails but if dash is destroyed, it’s easy to swap out. Find one with minimum rust, not worth repairing if the rust taken over.
I’ve had my 2001 1500 360 v8 Sport for about 10 years and it has about 210k on the clock. No issues with it at all (other and wear and tear) until this year when I lost park and 2nd gear and required a trans rebuild. A fresh trans woke it back up and I plan on keeping it for another 100k if possible.
My former neighbor had a 2500 Ram 4x4 truck with the 360 engine. In 98k miles, three transmissions, one transfer case replacement, two fuel pumps, two complete exhaust systems, dash broke at 71k miles and the frame cracked in two places at 68k miles, and fuel gauge failed twice. Only towing it ever did was towing a 16' aluminum boat once in awhile. At 98k miles, the rust was so bad, he got rid of it and bought a Ford F250 4x4 Super Duty. It currently has 161k miles and doing just fine without any problems.
@@BrennenWatts it was around 4500ish. Comes with a lifetime warranty. The shop is good and has a rep for solid, reliable work. They also did some extra work to the transfer case and replaced part of the cooling system.
Yes mr. truck my first truck was 1998 dodge, ram extended cab sport (no quad doors) 4x2 white. Fell in love with this style truck after watching the movie Twister🇨🇦👍🏻👍🏻
ORE provided 2" lift, red shocks, gusseted front diff, skid plates, tow hooks, 4.10 gears, and special badging. Produced 2000-01 only. Ram hubs are always engaged. The vacuum actuator connects the stub shaft via a collar midway on the axle. Everything else is pretty accurate.
I love my 2001sport ram quad cab 4x4 ...200,000 miles still runs great.... I'll NEVER buy a new one if motor gets bad I'll rebuild or get a remanufactured lol
A 1998 1500 2wd LB with a 360 and a RE46 transmission saved my life, last January an idiot driving under the influence plowed in to me head-on at over 70 mph as I was coming to a stop to make a left turn; I was doing maybe 10 mph, the air bags deployed for me and the seat belt worked as well; the other died... he was driving a Toyota Corolla. That Dodge was my favorite ride and she had a lot of miles left on the clock, so if you have a chance to buy a 2nd generation Dodge Ram, DO IT! As for my new favorite, a 2021 Toyota Tundra
Since the trans had an aftermarket cooler you could probably just adjust the bands up and be good. Dodge factory trans cooling was really the biggest issue causing the trans to fail.
Just purchased my 1998 1500 Laramie in January for $8500 with 45,000 miles on the clock. Mine has the 360 and the off road option, 2" lift, Trans cooler, skid pads, and tow package. The interior is about factory perfect, it also has a camper shell painted to match in Viper red and the box is bed lined, color matched! I think I got a good deal! No rust and factory Infinity stereo is quite good...
Man my 1998 was my first veichle bought it for 1500 in 2014 and still driving it today 340,000 miles never fixed anything just waiting for it to break down to buy somthing new but it just won’t 😂
My father had a 2000 Dakota 3.9 with the 5 speed and it’s paint did the same exact thing. That was the best truck ever. 260,000 miles and it never had any problems
i've owned several 2nd gens including a 95 v10 4x4 2500, only had 53,000 miles on it when i bought it. bought a dakota new in 98 5.2 4x4 it now has nearly 400,000 miles on it, still has original alternator, original trans that get filter/oil changed every 50,000 miles and bands adjusted accordingly, finally replaced original starter last spring, upgraded stainless steel brake line kit, only major work its had was a heater core replacement and i did that in an afternoon. The truck is still in great shape because i fluid filmed/woolwax the truck since new. I just recently purchased a clean southern 97 ram 1500 that i am going to go through it and restore it somewhat, it had drivability issues that the previous owner fired the parts cannon at and i got it running really good now,
I have a 99 Dodge Ram 1500 long bed 2WD reg cab V8 5.9 gas (no diesel) automatic, leather /power seats and original 65k miles on clock. A tiny crack in dashboard but nothing major bought it for $3k and I love it!! It kind of looks like the same truck in the video but my black paint is in better shape (mine is just now starting to fade a little bit from sun). I’ll keep it forever!! lol
aliexpress in China has a Custom fit dash cover with just a bit of fuzz to give it a custom look I just got a 99 about a month ago The guy threw in a cap without a backflap I've built them before. It's not level. It raises slightly towards the back with Lots of tinted windows Gonna put carpet on the ceiling Install a wind up roof vent paint white around the windows Build a bed Little table top stove and a solar panel and I'll have a bugout road truck. Has 318 with overdrive AC Headers but I'm going to have to have duel exhaust installed exiting on a slant just in front of the real wheels Interior and fabric is identical to yours. Doesn't have this lift Lucas transmission fix will take care of your slipping trani Id change the fluid and filter first Never flush a trani because then it's only a short time before it fails soon after Heard adjusting the bands is a must do service requirement
Great video gents, remember a guy who bought this nearly exact truck in the summer of 2001. It was the best looking, most bad ass truck on the 1/2 ton market. Man, how things have changed in 20-years, shoot, even 10-years. The 360 is a dog compared to the Hemi and the 4-spd trans was notorious for crapping out.
In my 20’s I went from owning a 1990 Dodge W150 Clubcab to a 1997 SLT Laramie Clubcab that looked just like the truck in this show except it had a 5.2L with a long box. I thought I’d died and gone to truck heaven when I got that ‘97. I still think they’re the biggest single step forward ever in truck design history.
I was looking for a decent truck in 2012. I called my brother for advice as he bought a new 02 2500 with 5.9 Cummins. After his advice I bought a 99 2500 with 5.9 Cummins. Best $6000 I spent on a rig. Tows anything I hook up. 240,000 miles and finally did a Air Dog lift pump and injector pump. (computer died in pump).
Could you guys do one one what 3/4 ton heavy duty truck to buy from late 90s early 2000s? Looking for something to pull 6-10k lbs. Also full back seat. Kinda pricey trucks though.
@@wildbill23c That sounds like a real nice truck, 680k is pretty insane. Shows the reliability of the truck with good solid maintenance. The amount of money you've probably spent on maintenance and gas probably pales in comparison to 3 similarly equipped brand new F250's each reaching 220K miles
Wow. My truck. I own the same 2001 Off Road but in Silver and perfect condition other than the stock radio which I'm going to replace. Beautiful paint. 1 have 118k miles and my for sale price just went up. Thanks for this video! :)

01 Dodge Ram 1500 was my 1st truck and I miss it. Don’t miss the 2 transmissions and rear end I blew. Maybe one day I will get one and build it. Like these Hell and Back videos
I love my 360.i have it in a 02 gen 3 and it runs great with 150000 miles. I got it for 2500 dollars and had to change the waterpump. A 100 dollar part and its been great.
4L80E trans in the GM's is almost impossible to beat. Maybe the available Allison was better? The Dodges all needed solenoid kits, larger coolers, and external filters.
I got a 98 SCSB with the OEM lift, 360 and 4X4 a while back for $500 because the kid couldn't fix the electrical. I've rarely been as happy as I was to get the papers back to start working on it.
I think Ill keep my old beater ram a while longer. I cant seem to justify buying a 50 or 60k truck when I know itll be well used and abused. Far less cost of fixing it than a new one. Its also better having the 8ft bed. Hard to find a 8ft bed on anything these days period. Mpgs are awful but still everything I've ever had to fix has been pretty trivial to far.
I went the same route as much as I wanted a newer truck I couldn't justify the cost of these trucks. So I found me a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.9 4x4 sport extended cab with a 118,xxx miles with no rust. I'd rather fix a old truck than a new one.
As good as these trucks looked, they were piles. The only good thing about this generation of trucks was the cummins in the 2500 and 3500's. These trucks also had glass transmissions, front ends would chew through parts in 50k miles, and had really bad rust problems
I have an extended cab (2 door 2 row) 2WD auto truck, and I don't drive it on the interstate, it doesn't seem to like going above 65mph. Then again, I think it needs an alignment
That thing was worked hard pulling a 5th wheel with a half ton is kinda rough. To bad it isnt in the same condition as that old chevy that truck looks like an old man special never towed anything.
@Snake Plissken there's 3 of them running around here. But most have the v8 gas engines. But really if I was to buy a dodge heavy duty truck I'd go for the Cummins diesel. The v8s belong in half tons. The v10 is ok. The only problem with them is rare parts
@@oldcroneysgarage9739 That V-10 was a power house but it sucked more fuel than any engine of the time. I had a rancher neighbor back when those came out he bought two of them to tow his 32' stock trailers and he only kept them a year. Couldn't afford the gas.
@@Welcometofacsistube Yep when gas prices go, big blocks go away. I was surprised Ford kept the 6.8L V-10 for so long. It was sad to see GM drop the 8.1L V-8 with the Allison Transmission. It was gaining market share before the 2008 recession and BK
I bought my 01 ram sport quad cab new still own it and still looks pretty close to new. Original black exterior with tan interior. No faded crap paint not rotted or rusted not garage kept never seen a car wash in 23yrs. Hand washed only. Absolutely love that body design. Not really a big fan at all of New body design. Gen 1 and 2 I think were the best design. I hope to keep keep this for another 23 years as long as parts are available and someday it actually might develop rust it will get a totally new paint job. Doubt very much there is a 01 black not garage kept that pretty much looks great as day one. Hell it still has the original factory carpet floor mats which still look like new.
The Dakota that era had many the same engines and transmissions as the bigger rams just not towing capacity. I still have 2003 Dakota crew 4.7l v8 Mangum 110k miles and it has only had emissions evap problems, but now live in non emissions state of idaho, I don't care about that or send money on it to pass .
Just bought my buddy second GEN 5.9 L he hit a wall, bent, the driver side radiator support. He gave it to me for $500. He said he’s had the motor rebuilt and it’s got 139,000 original miles on the transmission.
Ummmmmm Mr. Truck should know that is NOT BIRDS. 99.99999% of those trucks have paint like that. Something was wrong with the paint, everyone knows that.
Show everyone the front axle, the off road package had a huge steel truss, that thing weighed like 500 lbs, this truck also has 4.10 gears, and i would check the emissions decal the off road package came with the 318 not the 360
There’s a red truck that got a chance to fly in the movie Twister with Bill Paxton driving it. And another one that Chuck Norris drove in Walker Texas Ranger.
One thing I like about the older truck one you could get a manual transmission but a lot of people have the problems with the dashboard also but one thing I don't like about the new trucks push button 4 wheel drive I rather have shifter on the floor this way nothing could go wrong if you were four-wheeling somewhere but living on Long Island never have a chance anymore to take my trucks off road. I always purchase trucks with the extra tow package and transmission cooler even though I've never told a trailer but it's useless to buy a truck in 2 wheel drive the only time I get to use four-wheel is when it snows
$5k for that truck is a decent deal! The fading paint is because dodge used very low quality clear coat which got eaten up by the sun quickly, then will start to deteriorate the actual paint. Only one word describes the dashboard in those years..."garbage". I wish someone would make an improved replacement dash parts with stronger material. The noise from accelerating sounds like its coming from an aftermarket radiator fan-Metal-I have one...lol. The stock fans are the best. Great video!
Mr Truck!! I'm disappointed! Haha Those mirrors came out in 2000 and all Off Road Package trucks came with 4.10 gear ratios. I agree though. That 2001 is the one I'd take home!
The cr****** plastic dashes. Brake lines that rot, under sized ft ball joints on the 1500 and 2500 and a high failure rate on the RE46 transmissions. I've had 3 of them, cheap to buy and essentially throwaways when the trans eventually fails.1700-2000 in my area. It's cost per mile, and seasons used that is my metric.
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 extra cab 8' bed diesel with a few Gale Banks parts four-wheel drive and added extra leaf springs to make it a 3500 but also came with snow package and camper package but same thing with the paint fading really bad must have been the paint they used but the truck has so much power. I probably get someone wanting to buy it every few months because how great it runs purchase it used in 04 I purchased a new 04 Ram Hemi in 03 and I seen the 01 diesel I had to have them both. Looking to maybe sell both trucks or also my 2014 Ram sport hemi just have too many vehicles looking at the new Ram trunks just love how they are made.
the bands of those transmissions have to be adjusted every time the trans is serviced or it will slip. most trans shops will try to tell you it only needs to be done every 70k miles but don't listen to them! have it done every time. even the owners book if you still have it will say to have the bands re adjusted for every trans service.
They ended in mid 2002 and they sold so many bc of the cummins motor that motor saved them the v8 wasn’t the most sold in these trucks at all let’s get that straight
That's one thing I like about the Dodge pickups the room inside and the Headroom there's always enough room for at least four guys my 04 Ram just hit 115k miles and still have the factory mats because no one has ever sat in the backseat I don't think anyone has ever sat in the backseat of any of my trucks just because I have family vehicles but can't wait looking for advice don't know if I should go with a new Ram Big Horn or send the money for the rebel
I like how he says you need the 360 over the 318 for towing. 360 makes 10 more hp and 20 pounds of torque. Not really a big difference and I use my 97 318 4x4 Laramie with skid plates and tranny cooler to tow all the time. I've put 12k behind my half ton, brakes didn't like it but the ole 318 had no issues pulling the weight.
I have my 2001 dodge 4 door, 4x4 sport. I love my Truck. Bought it new in Steamboat Springs, Co. My ranch and camping truck. Will never sell it. I am 76 now. It will go to my daughter.
Hi. Thank your for your videos. I need your advice in trucks matters. I would like to buy an used pickup, but I can afford $17,000 US. Based in your experience and knowledge about this topic, can you give me some reliability options to buy this year??
I would recommend a 1996 Ford F-150 as they are very all around solid trucks. or a 2001 Ram 1500 that has transmission issues but the engine is good and they are most likely the cheapest . Maybe a 1998 Chevy K1500 those have electrical issues but are good as well. All great trucks
1:38 What happened here? Chrysler, Chrysler is what happened. Somewhere around 1990 they changed the paint process. Almost all manufacturers had to because of new EPA rules. Some figured out how to get it right faster than others. Chrysler took the longest, their clear coating and painting process was abysmal through the 2000's. At least it isn't as bad as the first generation Neons. They could lose anything from dime sized chips to most of a pannel just by driving through a carwash.
Mr Truck is the best.

Got one in Florida for sale 116,000 miles.
Same here I hope to find one in good shape as well .
I got a 99 1500 with the 5.9 magnum. Only issues with the 2nd gen gassers is the transmission and the dash.
"heater core is easy to swap out"? You must enjoy suffering
the fenders are a pain to replace on these..
@@aliassmithandjones9453 if the dash destroyed, it’s easy to swap.
Always a good thing when Mr. Truck comes by!!
I appreciate that
I’ve had my 2001 1500 360 v8 Sport for about 10 years and it has about 210k on the clock.
@@sergeantmasson3669 that’s some back luck.
What’s the rebuild cost?
@@BrennenWatts it was around 4500ish. Comes with a lifetime warranty. The shop is good and has a rep for solid, reliable work. They also did some extra work to the transfer case and replaced part of the cooling system.
Yes mr. truck my first truck was 1998 dodge, ram extended cab sport (no quad doors) 4x2 white. Fell in love with this style truck after watching the movie Twister🇨🇦👍🏻👍🏻
Yes, I remember that movie
🇺🇸
ORE provided 2" lift, red shocks, gusseted front diff, skid plates, tow hooks, 4.10 gears, and special badging. Produced 2000-01 only. Ram hubs are always engaged. The vacuum actuator connects the stub shaft via a collar midway on the axle. Everything else is pretty accurate.
Also the ore 17x8 wheels
What would you charge to swap out a motor in this exact same truck?
The dash’s always get there asses handed to them 🤣
I love my 2001sport ram quad cab 4x4 ...200,000 miles still runs great.... I'll NEVER buy a new one if motor gets bad I'll rebuild or get a remanufactured lol
Same here lol
Mine has the 360 and the off road option, 2" lift,
Trans cooler, skid pads, and tow package.
My 99 Dakota's paint did the same. What a truck. 5.2L with 5spd Manual.
My father had a 2000 Dakota 3.9 with the 5 speed and it’s paint did the same exact thing. That was the best truck ever. 260,000 miles and it never had any problems
Going to buy my 2nd gen tomorrow. I’m beyond excited to go pick it up.
Same ❤
Did you go buy it?
@MegaOzzy28 no it was leaking toi much oil
i've owned several 2nd gens including a 95 v10 4x4 2500, only had 53,000 miles on it when i bought it. bought a dakota new in 98 5.2 4x4 it now has nearly 400,000 miles on it, still has original alternator, original trans that get filter/oil changed every 50,000 miles and bands adjusted accordingly, finally replaced original starter last spring, upgraded stainless steel brake line kit, only major work its had was a heater core replacement and i did that in an afternoon. The truck is still in great shape because i fluid filmed/woolwax the truck since new. I just recently purchased a clean southern 97 ram 1500 that i am going to go through it and restore it somewhat, it had drivability issues that the previous owner fired the parts cannon at and i got it running really good now,
Love the 2nd gens. I own a 97 2500 4X4 LB 12 Valve with 180K miles. Great truck and Cummins 12v is an awesome engine.
I’ll keep it forever!! lol
I used to see these everywhere when I was a kid. They were hugely popular
aliexpress in China has a Custom fit dash cover with just a bit of fuzz to give it a custom look I just got a 99 about a month ago The guy threw in a cap without a backflap I've built them before.
I still think they’re the biggest single step forward ever in truck design history.
i have a 5.9 gas from 98 and trust me if you own one in current time gas millage are terrible
the 318 is fine for towing picked up my brothers 93 subaru in horse shoe bend idaho and still got 17 mpg! all the way back to lebanon or
I was looking for a decent truck in 2012.
Can't believe the shape it's in, looks like no rust at all. Here on the east coast of Canada there would be nothing left by now
Same here in Maine. You and I are not so different
The OR edition also came with 4:10 gears and a LSD, iirc.
Dodgezilla was a TFL Truck icon as well as Mr. Truck's american flag boots 🤠
Dodgezilla was fun,
I got a 2000 1500 with a 3 inch lift on 33-20s. Over 200,000 miles and still kicking!
Wow. My truck.
I own the same 2001 Off Road but in Silver and perfect condition other than the stock radio which I'm going to replace. Beautiful paint.
1 have 118k miles and my for sale price just went up.
Thanks for this video! :)
Gen 2 dodge rams had the best look I want to see if I can buy one of these
I can’t stannnnnd my 97 5.9 4WD off road 2nd gen, ready to give it away damn near lol
lmao around 4:40 "the trucks in kinda rough shape" "yea thats what u want" ....what?? lmao the old guy has some interesting thoughts lol hes really tryin to defend these dodge lol thats a bad position to b in brother lol :p
01 Dodge Ram 1500 was my 1st truck and I miss it. Don’t miss the 2 transmissions and rear end I blew. Maybe one day I will get one and build it. Like these Hell and Back videos
They have updated rear end transmission parts now
I love my 360.i have it in a 02 gen 3 and it runs great with 150000 miles.
Awesome guys.
That's what we call the good old anti-lock
I think Ill keep my old beater ram a while longer. I cant seem to justify buying a 50 or 60k truck when I know itll be well used and abused. Far less cost of fixing it than a new one. Its also better having the 8ft bed. Hard to find a 8ft bed on anything these days period. Mpgs are awful but still everything I've ever had to fix has been pretty trivial to far.
Also I strongly believe these new 50-60K trucks will never last as long as these did
I went the same route as much as I wanted a newer truck I couldn't justify the cost of these trucks.
I just bought a 95.4x4 .
Truck runs great . Rough n tough.
Building a boondocker with a camper shell .
Got my work cut out .
Yall should repaint it
That thing was worked hard pulling a 5th wheel with a half ton is kinda rough. To bad it isnt in the same condition as that old chevy that truck looks like an old man special never towed anything.
GM don't build trucks like Ford and Dodge, they build pickups for back and forth to your job
Still pulling with my 95 v10 1 ton
@Snake Plissken I see them all the time. Still clicking away some of them with over 500k on the odometer. Gas and diesel
@@MrTruckTV I have old 60 'so big block mopars that love gas but that v10, when played with, drinks more than any of them.
Please don't call the 4.7 a magnum. It's not even the same block.
Just bought my buddy second GEN 5.9 L he hit a wall, bent, the driver side radiator support. He gave it to me for $500. He said he’s had the motor rebuilt and it’s got 139,000 original miles on the transmission.
Mr. Truck loves this truck, give him a good deal.
Yeah, that's the ticket
And another one that Chuck Norris drove in Walker Texas Ranger.
these are the best half tons to plow with with the solid front axle...
1996 edition Ford F-150, 4x, standard, 5.8 , extended cab, short bed. Got excited there seen witch f150 your going for.
Birds??? dodges haven''t ever had a good paint job in the 80's or 90's or early 2000's
Stop hating there reliable have one and 250*** miles no probelm at all
W
When I heard the interior was great I was just waiting for him to say that the dash was crap
I'm about to maybe get one of these after I got my car totalled. So this is making me more excited I hope I get the truck
I have a 99 Sport that looks exactly like this one. It's currently parked but when it did run it was a joy.
TIME TO RESURRECT IT, I'M DOING IT TO MY 99
Love my 2000 5.9L only thing I’d change is wish it was 4wd and had a lift kit
One thing I like about the older truck one you could get a manual transmission but a lot of people have the problems with the dashboard also but one thing I don't like about the new trucks push button 4 wheel drive I rather have shifter on the floor this way nothing could go wrong if you were four-wheeling somewhere but living on Long Island never have a chance anymore to take my trucks off road. I always purchase trucks with the extra tow package and transmission cooler even though I've never told a trailer but it's useless to buy a truck in 2 wheel drive the only time I get to use four-wheel is when it snows
The worst thing to happen to these trucks is the dashboard cracking because imagine the wires tearing up
Goin to go look at an 01 360 4x4 with 130k original miles on it in about 2 hours, I figure regardless what's wrong with it, $3500 is a steal
I really like that dodge I'd love to see it go up the ike
I just picked up a 2nd gen manual 4x4 1500 for $1500. Has 240k on the clock but but she starts up everytime
I bought2001 sec gen with 11800 miles and it still going strong my dad had 98 when I was growing up
I paid 2700 for it
I just bought a 99’ ram Laramie club cab 8cyl 5.2l. Any advice to maintain? It all looks good for now..
2000, first one arm mirrors I saw was 2002 and they shaked alot. With the new body in 2003 for heavy duty, the mirrors stopped shaking.
Always been a great looking truck along with the same year 2500.
I have a single can short bed 97 with the 360, I also think it's the offroad model it has a slight factory lift
My granddad had the 2wd sport man that truck was fast
5 th wheel on a 1500!!!! That’s crazy. Definitely lived a hard life
I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 extra cab 8' bed diesel with a few Gale Banks parts four-wheel drive and added extra leaf springs to make it a 3500 but also came with snow package and camper package but same thing with the paint fading really bad must have been the paint they used but the truck has so much power.
I just bought from my uncle v8 5.9 150k miles good condition still wondering if i made a good decision what yall think
the bands of those transmissions have to be adjusted every time the trans is serviced or it will slip. most trans shops will try to tell you it only needs to be done every 70k miles but don't listen to them! have it done every time. even the owners book if you still have it will say to have the bands re adjusted for every trans service.
Currently tryin to figure out if they are reliable cause i want to build walker texas rangers 2nd gen 1500
I got the 96 1500 5.9 magnum 360 motor 307k miles still runs n drives like new I wouldn’t be surprised if I went 700k in this thing
They ended in mid 2002 and they sold so many bc of the cummins motor that motor saved them the v8 wasn’t the most sold in these trucks at all let’s get that straight
Yuma, Arizona
Those mirrors are original to that truck
That's one thing I like about the Dodge pickups the room inside and the Headroom there's always enough room for at least four guys my 04 Ram just hit 115k miles and still have the factory mats because no one has ever sat in the backseat I don't think anyone has ever sat in the backseat of any of my trucks just because I have family vehicles but can't wait looking for advice don't know if I should go with a new Ram Big Horn or send the money for the rebel
'04 is not in this conversation buddy. Besides that 3rd gen is crap compared to the 2nd gen!
The 360 had 45 lbs of more torque.
My first truck was a 1999 Ram 1500 2nd with 5.9L
I have my 2001 dodge 4 door, 4x4 sport. I love my Truck. Bought it new in Steamboat Springs, Co. My ranch and camping truck. Will never sell it. I am 76 now. It will go to my daughter.
Glad to see Mr. Truck
Thanks
I’m buying one like this one since I lost my 4.7 2006 ram.
