    Another sweeeeet video. I appreciate your candid honesty, your tuff love. Musician's can be some of the most diluted bunch of space cadets, and i personally prefer when people give it to me straight, rather than feed my delusions of grandeur while they take my money

    I feel like starting my own RUclips channel from the point of view of writers trying to get libraries to notice them! I can write and fire out a corporate track in a day. If your brain doesn't explode from the monotony of the same chord progressions over and over! Then I can write nice Indie tracks or hip hop tracks, IF I can get someone who doesn't want 400 dollars to sing one song. If I had that kind of money I wouldn't be here! I came from a world of writing something on a guitar, then seeing how it can be transformed with brass and strings etc. Maybe I'm just a songwriter with delusions of grandeur!
    Then there's the orchestral/movie/tv sync route. Far more rewarding and creative but you need to know how orchestra instruments work and how to record them and make them sound real and human. Then you need to know how to mix such a sound and master it. I reckon there's a college degree in the learning curve for becoming a successful composer.
    I'm faced with a decision to be made now in my early fifties. Do another two years of a degree learning about frequencies and algorithms written in programming language to control sound just so I can get to the masters degree in composition for screen OR find a proper online course that shows me how to write and produce
    College is essentially free where I am so it's not a monetary concern, it's more about possibly wasting time when all you want to do is compose and express yourself. You feel the clock ticking in your fifties a lot more than you used to.

      If time is your most valued resource, I say go with an online course that addresses your needs. A degree is not _necessary_ to compose, produce, or program music. I do understand the struggle to choose which lane to focus your efforts.

      @@crnkmnky thanks for the response. Yeah I've decided not to go back. I've met too many people who did the five years to get a masters and they work selling fridhes or stationary. I'm going to go with Jesse's academy for a year and see where I am.

    Hello there Jesse and thank you so much for the videos! I'm an ambient vocalist creating sort of atmospheric, haunting music and really did most of the things that others recommended. I have just watched the first video of your free course and I am really striving, hoping for the best. My goal/aim is to make music for rpg, documentaries, maybe even movies, teathers and such, is also very suitable for contemporary dancers and wish and desire to make music and work with musicians. I don't see myself on stages (at least not anymore) performing infront of crowds, but just would love for people who'd enjoy my music to find it, and me earn profit out of it. I've been working 3-4 jobs and projects just to earn a living, but working what I love doing too, so I won't complain that much. Thank you so much for your videos, I've subscribed with my personal account and am thoroughly going trough everything, with hope and aim, to achieve my goal.
    Much Love and Best Wishes from Slovenia!
    Nat

    Jesse how would you recommend a producer leveraging past Credits for new opportunities with a new library? Any pointers? Thanks for all you do!!

    • @SyncMyMusic
      @SyncMyMusic  2 года назад +3

      Believe it or not, past credits rarely help you establish credibility with a new Library. All they really care about is if the tracks you’re sending them are licensable for their clients - so just focus on bringing them a high quality product.

    I do have a website, still working on some pages but I don't have custom domain. Is it very important to have a custom domain?

      It looks a lot more professional that a free domain listing - won't stop you from getting accepted, but I saw you should stack up ALL the odds in your favor when it's within your control.
