No FTA until and unless an elaborate and comprehensive Extradition Treaty is signed between the two nations.
UK is well know to be the SAFE HEAVEN for criminals, fugitives and even terrorists from India.....how can there be an FTA while UK continues to be such a safe heaven???
Is there one more reason that till Nirav Modi & Vijay Mallya are not handed over to India...the FTA is getting delayed.
I don't think that can be effective enough to block the two nations'interests. Neither UK or India is childish like Canada.
This aspect had been mentioned by none other than Harish Salve in his interview

Due to its policies , the only way UK may be going is "down....better to have trade on a case2case basis rather than a FTA...
Free trade agreements with UK 🇬🇧
Should include:
Defence manufacturing
Aviation industry components manufacturing
Aero Engineering technology transfer.
British farm products
Beverage
Marine engineering technology transfer. Manufacturing.
DIY products and warehouses in Bharat.
Telecommunications services
Factory assembly line processing systems.
Knowledge base, Universities and colleges open campus in Bharat.
UK Govt has to resolve 2 issues besides goods actually manufactured there:
1 Allowing Khalistanis total freedom to raise a Khalistan flag, attack Indian High Commission and its staff and to allow Khalistani thugs to seek asylum and citizenship in UK! Seriously cooperate with India on money laundering and other illegal activities by them
2. Sign a double taxation treaty with India and honor the agreements regarding professionals migration for work to the UK
Lastly stop BBC from false propaganda and reporting on India and to curtail anti India activities by BBC staff in UK and India or face complete shutdown of BBC in India
India guy was covered. His tax/payment is an insurance. Per year. If he comes for two years but is paralyzed for life, he would be cared for, for life. Or should care stop the second he stops paying?
Britain is more a financial service and commercial education economy than a manufacturing center. There is little in goods merchandise for India to import from the UK. Not much purpose would be served by granting privileged access to british goods that are actually produced in China, Hong Kong or ASEAN. The best returns that India should demand from the UK is increased free access for Indian professionals into UK and a pro-India foreign policy of the Whitehall. In short We should ask Britain to respect and support Bharat if they want indian money in the name of free trade. The UK has looted and bled India tremendously during colonial occupation and a clanour for reparations is still there. Now, Bharat should mean business and demand proper and actual useful benefits from the UK. So many countries are after the dream market of India with 1.5 billion Indians. The UK is insignificant for us, otherwise. The UK is a failing economy and a tottering nation perched as a,lonely and ignored bird at the edge of a small continent which in itself is in deep turnoil and has shrugged off the departure of the UK from the EU.
