@@markwilson5608 No it's not props. Props have been around since the 80's. They're too hyper focused on making everything as clean and as perfect as possible rather than challenging the members. The judges don't reward it.
Nobody dares to march like this today, it's all watered down to LOOK fast but nobody has hauled like in a whole closer at 190bpm since 08. This was next level and I never realized how hard that was until all these years later. Just WHOA
Cadets 2018 closer stayed around 208-216 the whole way through. Drill was hard as anything but wasn't quite as iconic as this. Actually, aside from the ballad the whole show was 180+ and hauling ass.
@@fortuneia Oh I've seen it, one of my favorite shows. Being geometric and clean is great, but Crown wasn't literally running 4-10 at 190bpm like this for a sustained closer. The cadets horns were struggling with how long their steps were, you can hear it. Crown's writers are tactical and they keep the harder licks on shorter distances so the sound quality doesn't distort with long steps. The Cadets said who cares, RUN lol.
@@Taanstafl12that’s not even very true though. my show this year (hawthorne caballeros), we were hauling ass around the field the entire time. the colts also had some awesome drill this year. same with the bluecoats. like people still are doing drill, just not as crazy fast as cadets closers. but to basically imply that the activity has lost its “masculinity” and is all “gayness” is just wrong
seeing this live my rookie year was a real treat. they were moving!!! I remember housing with them after a show one summer. hearing the met going off at around 220 at least lol when they were repping that section for the show that night.
Hate to be a remember the good old days person because I am not even 30 yet, but man seeing drill like this is absolutely insane. You won't see many corps doing this because there is no reward anymore. YOu just stand on your props on the front sideline these days.
@@ianzalamea1457 Was just watching your head cam videos. You had more than your fair share of drill this summer. It was wonderful to see. (P.S. - I'm the tie dye guy)
Cladiax true that. they’ve done shows about literally everything ranging from doors to Christmas. without hopkins who knows what they’ll come up with next year.
was so disappointed when I watched this show. Such great drill for a great corps, performing such a boring and unsatisfying show. Really? Voiceovers? Nobody wants to hear narration for 10 mins geez.
Funny you mentioned 2005 and 2012, I absolutely love those shows. And 2005 happens to be my 2nd fav of all time. Also scoring a 99.15 and sweeping every caption
Here after the cadets folded for good. RIP Cadets.
Every corps is doing a Cadets tribute and be lucky if you find it.
How that perc judge is alive we'll never know
@Stimulator7 Jeff Prosperie running around on the field
he must have traveled to another dimension
Jeff loves getting in these forms. Can do that now
Why can’t drill be this fast no more.
Props. And lack of inspiration.

Because practicing at that level of intensity is probably considered a human rights violation by current gen standards
Cadets 2015
@@tredaviousbowser7931 that was 10 years ago.
The difficulty is just staggering. Best closing drill ever.
Go watch cadets 2007
The last couple of sets where the vertical lines mesh into the horizontal one will forever be the coolest drill moment in DCI history.
probably the most quality audio ive heard on any recording of any show
it's edited lol
Its 2018 and i still get chills with this ending.
Same and in 2023

Uh, no. Cadets 2015 was over 200 bpms
Things looking a little sus around 0:42
00:56 to the end. Probably the most complicated way to move from a square to a straight line.
I had forgotten how well that corps marched and played. Amazing talent.
10 years ago... we're so old now.
i miss this type of drumcorps
This camera angle of our hornline sounds so wonderful
Wow that ending is emotional. And wow I bet they were exhausted at the end of this.
Why does this break my heart to watch now? 😢
It’ll never be duplicated.
Because DCI lost it's masculinity. Now it's all just broadway gayness.

absolutely amazing!!
Horn line throw down at the hold then it's haul ass til the end! Nice job Cadets!

I don't think you're giving enough credit to how difficult the involved choreography of today is physically.
@@declandougan7243 Yes I agree that there is still demand. Just from a drill perspective I don't think you can deny that overall there is less.
@@Lacheddar1990 I hope the 2020s see a new balance in drill and choreo demand achieved like we’ve seen with a couple shows (Babylon).

This drill is amazing
0:21 😫😫
Holy hell. I can’t believe I’ve never seen this before. Wow!
It just keeps going and going and going! And then that little tag oh baby!
I never understood the inclusion of that tag at the end....so anticlimactic. They should have ended with the power chord.
Low brass is amazing
They're so smoooth on the field!
woah! get it colorguard!!!!!!!!
UNBELIEVABLE! But there it is in plain sight AND sound! Props!
Kids saw the drill and said WTF?
Could I hear this segment on G bugles? :)
Fucking chills
Frickin' crazy!!!!!!!!!!
How are they that loud
unreal.
I agree!!
dude seriously :22
Stimulator7 in the “old days” the corps wouldn’t have talked to us for 8 minutes and the crowd would have been more enthusiastic.
Another amazing corps and ensemble ruined by poor concept.
What do you mean?
