You soon learn what works and what doesn't, anchoring on the notes of the specific chord you are playing over is a good start. I've been playing for forty-five years and still learning how to improvise.

The two things that stand out for me is it's really well mixed, the drums are where they should be, i.e. not drowning the mix and the rhythm guitar is wonderfully placed to provide a backdrop for practicing your licks, fills and solos over. Says G major backing track. What are the other chords listed for? Do i only play those chords? I am very lost on how to use this and other backing tracks that list chords. I can noodle around in any key in all the pentatonic shapes but cannot figure out how use these chords in a backing track. Or, does it keep changing keys, from G to Em to C to D? That doeant make sense to my feeble brain. Sorry for the stupid question but im pretty confused by thia.
You can use the Em pentatonic shapes during the first two chords (is the same scale). Then you can add notes from the triad of the other two last chords.
