The fact grown adults so boldly asked a child in interviews if she were married or not knowing she wasn’t even old enough to be legally married is equally disgusting. No one took the situation seriously. Although the music was great, this period in her life just seems so dark. She was a child. An innocent child taken advantage of by a grown man. It seems a lot of adults failed her. It’s especially heartbreaking when it’s family. I hope Aaliyah healed from all of this trauma before her passing.

Thinking I was older as well as carrying myself older. However, when I look back and think back. I was sooo immature in so many different ways. I was Naive and easily impressed. I find it suspect that in every interview she says "a lady doesn't tell her age". That's a rule normally older women follow. What 16 year old says that. It's almost like she didn't want people to know she was actually younger than she was.
