I could listen to Fr. Ripperger all day! The laity is also complicit in the lost tradition and slide down the slippery slope of lowering our morals. I sat in a RCIA class as a convert to Catholicism and had laypersons teaching stuff to new converts that was not in line with the CCC. I see "Cafeteria Catholics" that want to pick and chose what they want to believe. That was part of the reason I sat in limbo between being an Evangelical Protestant and a Roman Catholic for so long. I knew that either I accept all of the Church's teachings or none of it. You cannot stand in Mass and proclaim, "I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church" yet carve out what you don't like or agree with. Even as a Protestant I knew that much.
Why you worry about anything. Conversion is personal. Is called free will. Anyways when we pass on we will be individually judge. Faith increase with the willingness to accept the teaching of Christ. Is a personal search and investigation. If you let other religion convert you is because you are weak in faith. Strong believers will not bend to paganism. I was weak, but i had to look, search, read, and found it. Now, i am strong in my faith nobody can take me away from the love and greatness of our creator... I am a convert and was not very well catechized. I was a hybrid between the Protestant and Catholic faith. I certainly was a cafeteria Catholic until I started to pray my Rosary and the Bl Mother guided me to the truth. I am so grateful.
Right there with you, Tr3kker! But cafeteria Catholics don't bother me at all. Went to my first ever Catholic mass on Dec. 21st, 2020 and before the introductory rites were over, I knew with certainty I had finally found the true faith. Got confirmed last year and love being Catholic. Thank you, Jesus!
This definitely changed my view of the church. My own personal struggle started with studying the scriptures with born agains in college, and then going to a presentation by Jews for Jesus that talked about Passover--the Ofi Komen showed me how much I didn't know and sparked a desire to KNOW more. Sent me down all kinds of rabbit holes that would have been better avoided. The Church has its troubles, but my problems are of my own causing--not those people back in the 50s. We did have a Priest in the family who refused to stop saying the Latin Mass back when they switched away from that.
Good for you owning your problems! The church is a mess but the Eucharist remains the Body , Blood , Soul and Divinity and He promised not to leave us orphans. There are some amazing priests! Thank you Jesus

It comes through grace, which enters the world through the Church. And yes, the successive collapse of the various intellectual schools in the Church led to untold horrors. There were cases of extra-marital affairs in my own family in the 40s and 50s but we always attributed them to factors other than a general breakdown of morality and we certainly didn't think it had anything to do with the Church. At 12:00 Father says something but so fast and with my crummy hearing, I can't understand it, what did he say right after he says "the chastisement" and before he says, "There will be 25 years etc.". I've replayed it a lot but can't get it. Thanks!
