Getting Plunderstorm rep can be a frustrating experience for PvE minded collectors, so I've collected the best advice I can on how to stay sane and get Plunder so you can unlock the Polly Roger dragonriding parrot mount and other Plunderstorm cosmetics for World of Warcraft!

A tip for "Loot 2 items" in duos - you can drop your barrels for each other and complete it instantly.
You can click and drag spells and items off your bar to share with your partner! It took me way too long to figure this one out lol

I think I've also picked one up and then just picked up the first one I had. I didn't want to comment it until I had a chance to test it lol.
You can do the same solo, once you find one just swap back to the one you dropped and it counts as two.

I believe the best opener is actually to land on a NON-Elite, close to an elite. Your first kill always gives you an ability, and each rare gives you an ability. But combining that into one, you actually are down an ability. Land on a non-elite close to a rare, pick up the ability, immediately go and kill the rare, and now you have 2 almost right after landing.

Why not kill the elite with your dive bomb(the hardest to kill) , get their ability then kill the non elite. Makes no sense the other way around. Its like saying kill the kitten then take on the tiger. No..instakill the Tiger then take out the kitten.
@@johndurrett3573 kitten only drops skill on landing. Tiger drops skill no matter what. If you land on tiger and kill kitten, you get one ability. If you land on kitten and kill tiger, you get two abilities.
My friend and I aren't PVPrs so we made our own routine. Avoid landing on players but try to find an elite to land on. Then loot, kill, and avoid players. Get the quest done, loot 500 plunder, then do whatever we want but stay close to the edge of the storm that is moving the slowest. Keep killing till we get pinned down, then run into the storm and deny the PVPrs the loot from our bodies. Sure it doesn't gain us anything, just our way of 'sticking it to the killers' and gives us joy (otherwise we would hate this mode more than we already do). We DID figure out that if one of us dies in the storm first, the other can heal enough to pick up the plunder before dying themselves and it counts for them. I died a lot this way to help a friend catch up to me.

plunder from pvp kills drops very little exp. Besides most pvpers hit 40 in the first 2 days

Christ, I didnt know about this until the very end of the grind. It made a huge difference. I couldnt figure out why people killed me so quickly.

I never had that option. I clicked on it many times. I heard people talking about them, so definitely looked.
Early game seems to be getting tougher, as some folk are being much more active in hunting out the PVE only players. It's making the grind super bleak.

I would say many people got more aggressive because they’ve learned how to play this mod and they’ve got too confident.
It feels bad when people want to pvp as soon as they land before you get a chance to start your quest
nobody is hunting other players unless they drop nearby. it’s inefficient, even against people who hardly put up a fight. you’re better off grinding mobs for the first few levels.
@@Ryan-xs9px literally had people hunt me down, also Rav made a video showing this exact thing, a guy spends 10min chasing him down just to grief him. yeah it makes no sense and he will probably get killed by a higher lvl now, but he still did it. griefing is a hell of a drug
pvp tip : get faeform, its op, makes you immune to chain root stun and gets you far from danger.

I felt the same way. What a mindless grind. Eventually I just collected 5-600 loot and opted out. Rather than bothering to try and achieve anything. Finished 37 levels in 2 days like that. Then did the last 3 levels today. I doubt I will ever go there again.
and it sucks a little bit extra knowing my time will be a positive statistic, when I truly hate it and am only doing it for the mount I want....ugh..

I think grinding the shit out of it, then not trying it even ONCE after rank 40, says it all for the statistics. It says you did not enjoy it one bit.
Not everything is for everybody and that’s ok. I did 10 rep levels a day and I absolutely hated this event. No matter how you spin it this is still PvP. I hope the dev team keeps trying new things, hopefully I’ll like the next thing better 😂

I do 1 rep level per day.. it’s less than 20 minutes and it works for me, even if I’m not good at pvp at all and only plunder before die to some super skilled pvp player 🤷🏻♀️
I survived because the FOMO inside me burned brighter than the loathing for PvP around me.
I'd been wondering about the efficiency of duos vs solos. Glad to have it confirmed that playing with my friends is both fun and earns me more plunder!
Yup! Any plunder that your duo loots is directly added to your total for the match. The only plunder that is not shared is awards from world quests / dailies, but I have found out that progress for these quests is shared. So all around duos feels faster for the grind!
@@drewhaas5213 also if one of you dies, the other player still alive collecting plunder will only go to the player alive. same with exp and leveling. sometimes its better to get some exp and obtain a level before going back to rez your teammate
Another idea, pick a favorite area. When you know an area, you know where the chests are likely to be and where the elites are.
My husband and I just got to renown 40 last night. Renown 1 - 10 I hated the game, 10 - 30 I was getting into it and enjoying myself, 30 - 40 I was resigned but so ready to get the mount and title rewards. I am not a PVP er and I've never played a battle royale game before. In all the many many games we played we only won one time, but towards the end of the grind if we lucked out and got our favorite abilities (rime arrow, fire whirl, the axe one, and fae form) we were able to actually beat people at PVP and get consistently to the last 5-6 groups.
I’ve given up - at my advanced age I always lose to younger, faster players in PvP, and the recent changes seem to have encouraged the PvP brigade.
Don't count your self out you got this!
It's not a matter of younger or faster. Some combos of abilities work better. Sometimes you get a partner who plays poorly or runs off. It's not a well-balanced game. It's not even a half-decent game.
I feel you 100%!!! I get hammered before I can gather my bearings. I am gonna give it go again maybe tomorrow. See if any of these suggestions help. (Maybe I can keep my social anxiety to a minimum if I think they are NPC's instead of players.)
UPDATE! 5 matches, didn't get past level 2. total plunder/gold $500. Not to even renown 5. Anxiety/BP through the roof and I am stuck in Fight/Flight. (I give up! This is for people who enjoy group stuff). This Grandma thinks child birth is easier.
Next week all the elitists will be gone, reached level Z40 and find continuing boring. Or not :(

Played a bit. I wish I could go to an area and have time with all the spells so I understood what the heck they all do. I know you can at the beginning but 30 seconds is not enough time.

This helps a lot, when you are only in for the transmog reward, hate PvP and want to get over with it quickly.
Another tip , hit the sand storm elite once then run , other players will defeat it and you will get credit.

If you are like me, I don’t engage, I run away! I play defensively. I like to get all the defensive skills I can. Anything that moves me away from chasers. The wind and fire spells are great for that. Also the sticky and metal targets are good, too, to slow them down. Then you have the morph spell and the cloak spell. I love the motorcycle, too 😆 The earth quake spell that jumps you forward is great, too. Find those spells, play around with them, kill bigger NPC mobs to level up faster and usually you can outrun the PvPers. 🎉 good luck!
Hazelnutty is really one of the best wow content creators out there.
I always aimed to land in the keep or the horde village. There are so many mobs there to gather plunder from quickly. Not always great if the quest is for items, because those tend to be in basic chests which you won't get a lot of, but if I landed alone I could usually get to 900 plunder in that match. I was amazed how many people were leaving plunder on the ground and not opening the gold chests! I have to think they didn't know that was the object of the game.
I sometimes look in the air to see how many aim the same way and steer differently depending on how others do. Troll village is also a good place :)
I've won quite a few games with a Poke & Escape build with Arrow + Arcane Orb + Leap + Fae netting me 2.4+k rep each time.
Arrow for 1v1 keeping distance, fully charged Orb for enemies fight each other or to interrupt, Leap used offensively for the stun or escape, and Fae to get away from anything.
Going full aoe and cleaning up when people are fighting each other works well too.
I like fish, orb, leap, stealth. Super annoying for your enemy when you pop out of stealth with fish and orb. And the fish prevents them from barrel rolling away or healing.

Thank you for the interact location!!!! I changed my keybindings but I couldn't find that one. That's so interesting about being regrouped for being a noob!! I didn't know that, I SUCK at pvp. I despise it, brings out the worst in everyone to be mean and a bully. This event is my worst nightmare. But I did notice that every now and then I am in a smaller group and can go around and finish the quests. I always die early and I always run away from everyone. I have hit 20 and I can say I've not killed one single player. So being in a group of lesser skilled pvp players makes sense.

A couple ideas I used to 40. Find areas that are less populated. When you are grinding renown, you want to land on an elite, spam your f key to pick up the ability that drops. Look at your quest. Get it done asap. Then, review your surroundings. If there are chests, open as many as you can. If you see elites on your map, go get them. Have a plunder budget. When you hit it, go die and requeue.

Great tips Hazel. Haven't tried duos yet but I'm still averaging 500 to 800 plunder per round. There does seem to be a problem with hard core PVP' players griefing players at the very beginning. I wish they would take plunder away for players killing you before you complete quest, that would put an end to that. One chased me around the entire freaking map and I couldn't even complete my daily. Next time I will just let them kill me and go to a new round. Some players really need to chill on the kill lust. Yes it's ok to kill the other players, but gheez let them at least get 1 plunder first. I have like 8 more levels to go and will not be going back. I just want the mog and mount.
I couldn’t grind this if I wanted to, I have chronic migraines and if I force myself to repeatedly play I’ll end up throwing up. I’ve been pacing myself to get at least one renown a day, which it about 2-4 games. This way I can go back to main game and do small achievements there.
that is how its is meant to be played. there is a daily reward of 800 plunder, so about 40ish days and you got it without much play at all
I’ve missed the past two days, caught a cold so I’m probably not going to make it this time. I bet it’ll be back later so I’m not worried to miss it this time.

I finished my grind by basically doing all of this. To everybody still grinding: You got this. It seems like lvl 40 is years away when you are at lvl 15, but you'll get there.

Going along with your last item, I didn't know how to get my rewards. I finally saw something that said it automatically will be in your collections when you log in to WoW proper.
Talk to the npc on the waiting area to equip the cosmetics for the BR mode, for actual WoW there's an npc in the valdrakken inn that shows your rep track for you

I chose to spend my time enjoying other stuff! Maybe if they had other rewards I would do it. It just seems strange to do something for rewards. Isn’t the activity itself the reward lol

I hate battle royale stuff, and while I realize that Blizzard bought out the studio called Proletariat (those who made the now-defunct battle royale called Spellbreak), and no doubt got those devs to make this mode...eh. I don't want to do it, but I have a pirate themed character, so I really appreciate the tips - I've avoided jumping in just yet, while the game mode was ironed out, and the mega rush of the first few days was over.

Just wanted to throw out something about the use of your powers recommendation.
Your looted abilities can be seen from much farther away than actual players. Yes, using these abilities will kill enemies faster, but any pvp'ers who are hunting for players will be able to see you from half way across the map.
I'm not saying to ignore with advice, but you should be aware that you're putting a big neon "I am here" sign above your head if you do.

I understand Hazel has to be diplomatic about this because she is influencer, and she has a good reputation in the community. She is one of the better content creators in terms of quality and overall positivity. I like and respect her content. That said, Plunderstorm is a disgrace. Blizzard shit in our mouths and then paid streamers and influencers with $$$ and clout to promote it and tell us it tastes great.

The first five minutes or so are usually when you make your plunder for the match. I do sometimes chase the big gold elemental if nobody else is there. But typically as soon as I have to start running around to find npc's I just get myself killed by another player or run into the storm. Even if you're good at PvP the loot fast then suicide and reset strat seems to get you more plunder/hour.

If you're looking for an absolutely ridiculous thing to do for an attempt at extra gold......get to ~level 4 or 5 then kite the Pieces of Hate into the storm (Rime Arrow is amazing here). It will spit out plunder piles and the chest when it dies.
it sheds plunder over time, so its best to leave it alive and farm it for plunder its drops with its spells, as hazel said. killing it drops a set amount and ends him dropping infinite plunder with his spells.
While watching ur video told a ramdom duo to do quest quickly and go super aggressive and if die well quick plunder always nice and we won with 5k plunder in 1 game never saw that much my max before was 1.6k😂

Hit 40 renown first week playing about 2 hours a day.
Ugh I just can't do it, I think I'm at 2 hours total maybe so far and it just feels like brutal grind. I'm glad they're trying new stuff but this is so opposite to my idea of fun, doing the exact same thing over and over and over in 5 minute intervals. It's worse than Torghast was.
@@Dandelion_Stitches my advice is just don't do it. If it's a miserable experience, you're fine skipping it. You don't need every item in the game, and once you break free of FOMO you'll have a healthier relationship with gaming in general. Don't fall prey to predatory tactics and just don't do what isn't fun for you.

Get high AF or drunk AF I get both play all day and all night just gotta deal with it makes you suffer through it numb the pain
My husband and I enjoy playing as a team in pvp so we farm together and we won quite a few games 🎉
My strategy is still to get in, do the quest, die asap... if the quest is not bad you get 400 rep in 1-2 minutes this way.
Change the keybinds. Make them feel like actual wow for you. For me, 3 is my basic dps filler/spam button. I left healing on 2. I moved 4 and 5 to the third and fourth buttons. I kept melee abilities on 4 and ranged on 5. R and g were utility spells. H is for the barrel/item slot.

I did it in 3 days and actually had decent fun with it. Finished the Grind with a 16 Kill win Round LoL.
I completed 37 levels in 2 days. And did the 3 last ones today. What a grind. My brain is empty.
You didn't have to do all of that in 3 days, the event is up for 6 weeks. Could have taken your time and made use of the daily 800 extra rep

Yeah. I didnt know that, however. Also... I noticed only in these 3 days that the PVP nerds were getting ever more tactical and predatory on nubs and this thing would no doubt be extremely un-funny to play in a couple of weeks from now.
Haven't seen much about the quartermaster in the Roasted Ram. At level 5 you get a quest and the 15 Keg Stamped coins and can buy some crests. Also, he sells an item for 80 copper that gave me a champion belt. Any idea if you ever get more of those coins?
The best method for surviving the plunderstorm grind I found was to not play it lol
Here is another tip be aware of where elites are in the game and go for the second one not the first one when you land because there will be at least 3 people landing on that spot and an elite is an elite. So, you know the spot in the stormwind side there is also an elite by the entrance.
Do you sometimes have games with no quests? Or should there be a quest every time you play?
just imagine if Blizz does a good guy move and make it so that at like last 1-2 weeks of Plunderstorm they add a Vendor in the starting area of the match where you can use all the Plunder you collected that doesnt reduce your renown but rather make it so you can buy more rep with that plunder that you've already collected

Ive made a game for myself by just not trying to get killed. I fly to the edge of the map and just sneak in when it closes in. I dont care about plunder. I have managed to get 8th place so far.
I'll have to try using an interact key. Seems like sometimes it takes 3 clicks to pick up something. I don't know if this is a bug or a change, last few days it seems like the daily for 800 plunder didn't come up until my second game.
My experience with Plunderstorm was horrible. 5 games, never lasted more than 2 min. Still level 1 rep. With these tips I may try again, but timing of this even tis horrible, Im moving out of town.

well i hit 40, so im going to share the only real tip i think thats worthwhile. To not start a fight. Wait until you see two people fighting...then wade in. Your chances of getting both down, are not bad at all. Winning is not nice :)
be opportunistic for sure. see a person floating at 20% just after a fight, get um. don't attack level 1-2s though, let them get their quest done for more abilities/plunder when they die
@@maruraba1478 I had a level 2 attacking me today while I was trying to open the 2nd of my 3 chests. I'm just standing there and here he comes "whack, whack, whack" and I'm like dude what are you doing? I don't even have anything yet!
@@carljohnson6337 you encountered a sociopath, not all humans are like that. its just like real life. there are pricks and that is not indicative of the whole human species. and there are people who attack you at lvl 1 and its not inductive of the whole game mode/player base.

Doing this for hours on end should be considered a form of torture with how boring it is. I got to renown 5 and just couldn't do it anymore.
(1) At least in my set up, when I land, I am always zoomed in. The first thing I do is zoom out so I have a better idea of what’s around me. (2) You don’t have to run directly over the piles of gold; you can just skirt them, and you will pick up them up. For example, if you see three piles of gold that are near each other, don’t go to each pile, just run in between them and you’ll pick up all three.
My long grindy nightmare is finally over!
Try farming different times of the day. I found that during some hours there were actually more pvp:ers online. And also learn which abilities that do more dmg, works for both pve and pvp.
Patch notes say that you now only need to pick up ONE item for the quest.
I still wish they would just add a PvE option. 🤷♂
It’s kind of impossible to do a PvE version of something that is PvP by default. In best scenario it would be Island Expeditions 2.0 and many people didn’t like this one.

@@malkavian4120 Also, I don't understand why people keep saying a PvE option would feel too much like islands. I have heard this elsewhere too. There are PvP islands and no one compares this to those.
@@Scrufflelump because pvp islands werent a battle royal with a storm element. If you take pvp out of the battle royal its not longer a BR - its an island
@@vvohvaelez9277 No, it's a PvE BR. PvE Island Expeditions were not BRs. You could very easily populate the entire thing with bots and have it stay exactly the same, but it'd be 10x easier to do everything that needs to be done.
I enjoy Plunderstorm, I think it's great and has a lot of scope for development and inclusion in the main game, but I do wish the renown track was a LOT quicker. The event is very boring to do repeatedly, especially if you feel like you "have" to do it. This then might lead to a torghast/chorghast effect amongst players.
Helpful video! I got top 2 at only lvl 5 by going to the outsides and just farming mobs and gold. I’ve also won 1st multiple times by speed pulling tons of mobs and out lvling the best. It’s really about about covering the largest area the fastest. It’s a strategy game. And it’s fun. Last night a friend of mine and I got top 2 with common equipment, just by using a strategy play. This might be the best game blizzard has ever made. I’m past 40 renoun and I play just for fun. PS the parrot is awful to stir 😂
I haven’t played yet but will. I see duos dropping items for each other but haven’t seen yet how to drop things. Even for singles that looks like a good thing to do if you want to swap something out. But how do we drop something?
On tip one land on an enemy close to an elite but not on the elite for the guaranteed ability then kill the elite for a second ability.
Best tip. Don't play too many games in a row because it gets so boring.
the in game tip reads something like "have moderation in all things, even world of warcraft"
If you suck at pvp like I do and die within a few minutes of entering, you kinda have no choice if you want to advance😐😐
It's also significantly less frustrating if you're not trying to grind this thing all day. Do a little bit and then go do something else for a bit.
I like how 9/10 videos about plunderstorms are guides and tips and how to make it less toxic, lmao this game mode is trash for 80% of the playerbase and they knew they HAD to make FOMO mogs in them for people to play it.
I hate it so much when lvl 1 or 2 ppl pvp like crazy, preventing me from completing the quest
same, I think there should be a "safe" period before the first storm warning to give people who suck at pvp a chance to complete quests. I've never got above lvl 5 and I hate pvp. Brings out the worst in people
from now im going duo got extemly short moods for pvp sometimed not avoidable xD
when do I let the charging Arcane bomb off? when the bar is full? or do I have to aim for the yellow or Red spot?
The more you hold it, the bigger it is. Let it off when you feel like you should. If you use this against pack of mobs and you’re not in a hurry you can max it out. If you do pvp you just chose the best moment.
It does the same damage no matter what size it is.
What happens if you leave the match?you loose all your plunder?

How engaging is it? Hazel got level 40 in one week. Now what is she going to do?
I'm finding queuing up for games is now taking longer than the actual game. And the number of loot 3 spells is getting ridiculous at least 75% of my daily missions are that. I'm certainly not enjoying this game mode.
Plunder is a wonderful word 😊, i use all these tips,plus i also like to storm surf around the edges and pick the stuff people leave.I also love to attack people when the hate bosses are up,i have never won a match but got top 3 with these tacs.Never stress over this mode,its not as bad as people make it out to be
be aware rampant hacking is out of control in this game mode, do NOT be afraid to report these players, as the longer they're left alone in the game the more they try to make players give up on the event.
They should buff plunder by like 100%

Anyone else hoping for a PvE event in game that doesn't allow PvP players if they have current PvP activity? Or a server with Strictly PvE?
Big missed opportunity from the devs on visualizing your plunder as piles of gold and knicknacks -- like with Rendle back in Nathria, or like in Fable 2. Pile up the gold on the character select screen, c'mon!
They told me I needed 100 000 rep to complete the 40 levels. Because 2500 for each level, times 40 = 100 000. But I was finished when I had just over 90 000. Which is odd.

You start at level 1 not 0
