Kerkvliet seem to run out of gas at the end. He didn't even really try the last 30 seconds. Wondering if something was wrong with him. He is much better this year than last year and put on a lot of muscle this season. We may find out more about this next Friday when they wrestle Iowa.

I think we'll see him battling back for team bonus points in consolation. Maybe that's his hidden plan, make it through the first two rounds with majors, lose, drop down to cons semis and get in for 3rd/4th.
Bad ncaa rules where if you challenge something and it gets reversed all wrestling that happens after is invalid due to wrestlers could’ve been wrestling different which can be good sometimes because it’s true but calls like this are atrocious give a takedown and a reversal… but also I could see how amine could’ve been still trying super hard to get a takedown which led to him being reversed since he had to get it then or he loses so it was all or nothing.
Facundo and Van Ness were some of my favorite to watch in high school. I love the way they keep wrestling non stop so technically. The hand fighting is top notch too. I hope they work with Nolf because he wrestles beautifully and relentless on his attacks from alll angles

My son is going into high school this coming year. He has dedicated himself to making heavyweight by his sophomore year. A huge motivation for him was watching Mason Parris. We actually checked out his Twitter account, which went back to when they were roughly the same age. I think of all the work he has done since dedicating himself to this goal. I think we write off sports that don't have a "league" after college that makes millions of dollars. As I sit here drinking my morning coffee, I can't help feel gratitude to these young men that inspire the next generation of wrestlers.
Honestly facundo should have won in third, idk why they have to reset the time and not give the takedown to facundo, say amine scores the takedown anyway, and then facundo is alr on his feet like he was, and he does the roll, gets to the legs, and gets the 2, but it would be a reversal instead of a takedown, still 2. 6-5, theres 3 seconds left, facundo wins.
I actually don't think it would be much of a match. RBY is just that much bigger/longer than Lee. Lee already isnt having to cut a lot of weight to be in his weight class. Wrestling does get to the point where the bigger competitor will win a majority of the time.
Penn State's freshmen are going to go deep in the NCAA Championship - 149, 157, 165 (soon to be top 5 wrestlers). Add to that 133, 141, 174, 184, 197 and HWT are all top 5 wrestlers. 133 #1, 141 #4, 174 #1, 184 #1, 197 #2/3 and HWT #1/2?. Come tourney time 9 of the 10 weight classes for Penn State will be top 5. Unfortunately, the 125 curse continues.

I watched Facundo and Amine in the MHSAA (Michigan) State Finals back when they were in HS and man that was a crazy match! Huge upset! Huge upset with Facundo beating Amine back then.
Collegiate wrestling's replay rules are so bad. They did properly apply the rules, but Facundo obviously should have been winning 5-4 after the takedown and reversal.
Kirkvleet is just a lazy wrestler. I'm a rabid PSU fan but I gotta call it like I see it. He doesn't wrestle hard. Never does any more than just enough which is why he lost. He was in deep on that leg multiple times. That's when you blast through. Don't stop, keep driving until you're in the first row.

There has to be some takedown attempts whether a throw, throw-by, ankle pick, etc. in other words, wrestlers should be setting up to take shots or takedown attempts. You can't just do defense all the time. My point is that top ranked guys seem to look for favorable calls because of their status and not their actual wrestling per se.

RBY was stalling (blatantly) never recieved the call. Wrestlers stall is a tactic, I get it. Ref's make bad calls, I also get that but they should be across the board and not in favor because of a crowd who knows less or is biased.
I mean, look at the difference in the number of matches between some of these guys. Parris has ten more matches than Kerkvliet. Penn State does not wrestle enough. They do this to get good seeds in the Big Ten and National Tournament! How can you adequately rank and seed wrestlers when they're only wrestling around twenty matches before their conference tournaments and NCAA championship?
RBY is a huge point scorer and he always has been his whole career. Who cares if he doesn't pin guys. That's not really his style, but his style is effective and he's a two NCAA champ beating Dayton Fix both times and Fix is super elite. The only thing the pins get you is that Hodge trophy. But winning a national title means even more to these guys.
