Ive switched over to Stanley now from worx for garden and diy tools home use only but been very happy with it, it started i needed a multitool and the guy in Toolstation recommended me to try Stanley as they also own DeWalt and a lot of the stuff is made in the same factory.
Thanks rob it’s a minefield with so much to choose from I heard the sthil stuff is great so I’ll be trying that later in the year I want the combi so I can use all my attachments Thanks for watching mate
I use a lot of ryobi gear, and decided to try their strimmer, domestically it would be fine, but professionally it was useless, however I am pleased with their backpack sprayers, sometimes you can pick up a good domestic tool that works well professionally, it then becomes about build quality
Great video and good to see someone putting these types of standard domestic tools to the test. I believe the parent company of Stanley tools is Wolf Garten, so the quality is going to be pretty good I guess.
Hi Pete. Great review mate. I know that battery technology has come a long way, but with a tool like that, it sits in the shed or garage for long periods of time without being used. I know some companies are now making batteries that will fit their entire range of tools, which is better. Anyways, great review
Hi yes it copes with brambles Great thing is the batteries are cheaper than stihl and other brands I do use stihl but also love to try other brands too and I use my Stanley often
@@THETATTOOGARDENER83 thank you! I already have a Stanley strimmer which is brilliant, and 2 batteries so I really wanted to get this hedge trimmer for all my overgrown brambles!
go ego for the battery gear mate you seriously cant go wrong! once youve invested you make your money & ease of working 10 fold !! nice vid tho and fair play for trying a different brand to the norm for garden maintenance
I’d love to try some others and ego are up on my list It seems battery is the way forward and I guess you have to try a few before you find that perfect machine I’ll check out some others soon 🙌🏼
Stanley Black and Decker is the parent company of Dewalt (hence yellow and black) and is actually decent quality. There is a Dewalt branded model, looks almost identical. I have a Makita DUH523, the same size and type as this, and it works great for trimming small shrubs and getting into tight spots that are too awkward for my stihl petrol pole trimmer. It has it's niche and is a regularly used part of my kit.
Thanks Damien it’s ok for what it is looking forward to trying it on a fully charged battery to see if it’s any better It’s not bad for £152 tho Hope you’ve had a great day mate
With respect you can’t compare that thing with a proper battery Stihl/husky/makita battery hedge trimmer. I have every tool in petrol and every tool in battery and I use battery 90% of the time. Yes it’s a big investment but it’s so much nicer to use. I was very sceptical a first but I’ve gradually changed over and am now at the point where I actually dislike the noise/weight/smell of petrol gear. It still very much has its place but battery is very much my go to. Have you had a chance to try any Stihl battery hedge trimmers at all?
I think I’ll be going that way in time I thought I’d just try this as a tester I’d love to try some other brands I haven’t had the privilege yet this was the first battery machinery I’ve tried As I’m getting older I think the lighter quieter stuff appeals to me lol
@@bz857 is this for me or jack mate At the mo I use sthil petrol stuff but want to make the switch to battery in time after bad tendinitis earlier this year This was the first thing I’ve tried it was ok I’m going to be trying out some other brands soon so I can see for myself which I prefer Do you use battery if so is there anything you can kindly recommend mate 😎🙌🏼
@THE TATTOO GARDENER hi mate, hope all is well. Another great video! I've invested in a sthil hla 66 with two ap 200 batteries. I did a long day today (underestimated the amount of waste and how deep the hedges were) hedge trimming, 2 batteries did all day. I'll only use petrol where absolutely necessary now, so much better on the joints, lungs, and the ears. 👍
Great little video mate. I worked for a stihl dealer and the battery kit is decent but way over priced. Im on my first year and have gone the whole hog into makita battery kit. Yep went all in on battery on my first year. Think i need my head checking 😅
That’s the future mate so why not Petrol stuff is great but it costs a load and the fuel is expensive each month I spend well over £400 a month on fuel for tools and the van So battery means more profit in the long run well I hope but then electric prices are going up all the time so swings and round abouts 😂
I’m going to charge the batteries over night and give it a good test tomorrow on some thicker bits at one of my jobs It’s not bad for what it is I’m almost 100% sure the petrol stuff is better but I’m sure technology will improve with time
It’s not to bad I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was honestly quite good quality build wise The battery was as good as flat so I’ll fully charge it and give it a fair go tomorrow
be good to se how the cutting is going in maybe 12 months or so i have been looking at some but keep holding off with electricity costs as they are at the minute and also i think phone great when you get a new one but soon comes around to be on charge all the time we will see i guess all the best mate
Hi Shane I’m the same really I’ve wanted to switch for ages but have held off for the same reason I decided to try this one as it was cheap but your right I’ll keep using it and see how it goes The battery came out the box barely charged so I’m fully charging over night so will do-a follow up shorts video later this week and see if it’s any better

That saw bit on the end looks interesting 🤣. Battery hedge trimmers are really nice to use mate 👍
It’s the first one I’ve tried I’d love to test out some other brands
I love the fact they are silent there’s no pull code or smoke 🙌🏼
Good informative video Peter. Well done.
Thanks dad 😎☀️🙌🏼🌳 it’s not too bad

This one fits all power tools drills etc too so not bad
Just testing it now again it’s really good
Hello, thanks for testing this out! Would the Stanley cope with brambles? I can't get an answer from Stanley on it.

That’s awesome to hear mate I’ll be using the same way alongside my petrol stuff
Used it again and it’s been brilliant
Perfect if you are working by windows etc or in a courtyard, nice one mate
It’s a nice little lightweight bit of kit can’t wait to use it some more

if using battery powered hedge cutters get a jackery power charger and plug in your van too charge a battery while you use the other one
