Whoa, crazy that this video is going on a decade old. I just heard something that reminded me of these guys and I hadn't given them a listen for probably... well, a decade. Wish there were more bands like this these days. Any recommendations of bands like Racer X in their hayday?
im 57 years old and never heard of racer x until about a year ago ;goddamn they are great!
I'm 56 and I'm telling you that those where the best days at the clubs. I saw them play and it was incredible.
@@franklinb1224I can only imagine how awesome it was then. So much incredible playing all in one place.
Such a great gig this was. Like nicely polished Racer X. Today, kids are like, "Racer X, who??"
Great for us older fans.
My God Paul is fucking flawless. Love Racer X!
Juan's bass tone is sick!!
Great band!!
Awesome.... I love Racer X and Scott Travis has certainly proven himself as the king of Rock Drummers.. we called him the human metronome out in VB .
super underrated group.....
Don't tell me you know
What it's all about
What it's about
Your thinking makes me scream and shout
I won't give out
You try and change my life
That cuts me like a knife
I'm gonna hammer Away
Won't listen to what you say
I'm gonna hammer away, hammer away
And do it my way
I'd love to tell a thing or two
Right to you
You've gotten under my skin
Well I'm through
Through with you
So I'm lowerin' the boom
Climbing out of this old tomb
And Hammer away
I'm tired of you
Layin' down the law
You make no sense at all
You'll never make me break down
And fall
No not at all
Don't you try and change my life
Cause that cuts me like a knife
I'm gonna hammer away
Won't listen to what you say
I'm gonna hammer away, hammer away
Make it some place
I'm gonna hammer away
Won't listen to what you say
I'm gonna hammer away, hammer away
And do it my way
I'm gonna
I'm gonna hammer away
As great as they are, one of the attractions for me was Paul and Bruce's harmonized solos.

Cacophony is the only other duo shredder band I can think of. Not a huge fan of their singer but Jason Becker is incredible in those recordings
