Erin, don’t worry about your mangaves. I have had mine for many years. Some are huge. I take them in every year. I put them in a spare bedroom. I am a horrible houseplant owner. My mangaves live on neglect in the winter. I use regular potting soil. They don’t care. They are amazing. The only thing I have to be concerned about is my back. I put mine in light weight pots but boy are they heavy. I live in central Pennsylvania. I love your videos. Keep them coming!
Surprisingly I’ve had the white datura come back from the roots for several years in the ground, zone 6. (My great aunt always grew it on her balcony in pots) I deadhead or cut off the baby pods and avoid those painful spines. RE: the knife…I found a very thin and flexible bread knife at the thrift store and it does exactly the same thing. Not as long though …you win 😂
I want to boop the Magnus snoot so bad. He is so cute! Thanks for sharing what you are doing to prep for plants coming in. I have got to get going - we are dropping in the 30s in the Smokies next week. 🥶 It's a little early...and I am not ready.
Erin, you don’t wish you lived in an eternal summer climate. Originating from Southern California, I can tell you that the climate excludes planting an endless number of beloved perennials that require a cold and dormant period. It painfully limits your palette!
It's here Erin. Chicago is getting very cool in the evening already. I understand why you love those types of plants. Is that like Michigan in the background? The wave sounds?
I was gifted a Datura seed pod a couple weeks ago. I can’t wait to try to grow it from seed. Was thinking I’d try half of the seeds as Winter Sowing & the other half under grow lights.
QUESTION: What is the variety of tree that you dug by the garage. Love it. Was wondering if you could preserve some of those branches. Something I’d like to try when I retire! Love your videos and your pup is precious! 🐾
I cut my ficus way back in order to get it in the door. Mines 39 years old! Brought it in last week zone 6B frost advisory tonight. I bring way too many plants inside for winter. I’m listening to you about the Cannas. Going to discard most of them.
Everything is early this year! Last frost was weeks early and then last night we had a frost advisory and tonight a freeze warning…a week early. Weird year. If they’re alive tomorrow I’d like to try and overwinter some pepper plants. Might regret that decision but I won’t know until I try 🤷♀️
My first frost date is two weeks past, I'm living in borrowed time, lol. I've been digging up all sorts of things to over winter, such as my peppers since we have such a short season.
The Datura.... did you grow this from seed or did you buy it? SO interested in these, but afraid of their vigorous growth... share info? And you had maggots?!?? What?
Looking even more beautiful and first time seeing your very handsome hubby. LOVE SEEING YOUR very cute puppy and love the way you garden.First time comenting but long time watching.Had to coment on first time seeing you and a view of your hubby so wonderful together. Your Velcro dog is a doll🖤
Love how Magnus hangs with you!
Erin, just get a damn greenhouse already, even a small one! 😂
Thank you 👏 😂
Lol great suggestion!! ☝️😃
Well if greenhouses are charging $300 to overwinter three mangave the math starts making more sense.
Magnus chewing on the odd plant😂😂😂❤

No thanks😉
Thanks Erin. 🎃🍁💚🙃
I was informed today that we may get frost on Monday! Way early for us in Central Indiana, so I have a busy next few days, it would seem.

Ohy word , dig that star shaped vine scrape out of the scrap pile and send me a couple pieces, I would love to try to root it!

Great video, watch your eyes girl, I have had a lot of eye pokes during my fifty years of gardening
I need to get at this so bad! Middle of radiation treatment and getting plants in the house before frost is not working well together! ☹️
Love this video saving to take notes! Thank you. I didn’t catch the name of the one by the garage was it anio star fachidara?
We had a mild frost last night, our first here in mid Ohio

I find myself also overwintering a few more plants each year. Do you ever think you might build a greenhouse for this purpose?
I haven’t dug up my cannas ever. I have had them for 20 years. They come back every year but I am in zone 7
I know someone in zone 6 who has the same experience.
Question Erin… is it necessary to put biotone into the planters that you are overwintering?
I need to know Everything About Over wintering My Plants… because of this insane economic! Hopefully it will change ASAP!!!!!!! 👍🇺🇸
Well it's not because of who you think. That one's time has come and gone!
Do you spray for bugs? Love your videos!
Would there be a way to propagate the plant by the garage that you trimmed and dug out?

Not maggots she said the puppies name lol
Magnus
You can grow them from seed each year. They are related to Brugmansia and love water and food to grow. Super easy plant
Gosh, your growing season is short. You do a hell of a lot of work in the short months that you have.
You are looking very fit and trim❤
