Wonder if it’s a defect. My Kreg saw has a soft start but goes right up to full speed. Also mine doesn’t wobble at all. Sometimes my cuts won’t be perfectly square ripping, but I think it has to do with the blade having to many teeth. They need to introduce a 20 tooth blade designed for ripping. My crosscuts are perfectly square.Mine however was terribly out of parallel right out of the box. I had to get it parallel then get Kreg to send me a new anti chip strip. Overall I’m happy with it.
Kreg sent me a brand new saw and it has WAY less play. Substantially better. I think with the spin-up, I was just being too impatient. If I just give it a second, it gets right up to speed.

So they sent me a brand new saw and it has a little play on the 90, but nothing near as much as the saw I used in the review. The startup thing I figured out that I just have to be a little more patient and let the motor spin up to full speed prior to plunging. It reminds me a bit of an old table saw my dad had back in the day. It always took forever to get up to speed. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment!
I have the complete ACS system, including the extension and with kreg sawhorse I also got a separate set of tracks set up for cutting 8 foot plywood I very seldom use my tablesaw now all the cuts with the kreg are perfect. I do find when I’m cutting. I am moving the saw slower.
That start up is terrible but that play in the housing is totally unacceptable and defeats the purpose of using a track saw. The ‘buy once cry once’ saying is one that definitely worth adhering to re: track saws. I bought a Milwaukee track saw and it’s close to perfect.
I was just watching a review of the Milwaukee track saw (cordless) and yeah….that thing is badass. I definitely want one! Kreg was cool enough to send me a new saw, so kudos to them, but overall it’s just not a saw for fine finish work. Time for me to save up for that Milwaukee!!
Although an amateur, I have been an "amateur" carpenter for over half a century. I personally have nothing bad to say about this tool and it is the best tool I've ever owned my entire life. No problems whatsoever.
Only a few moments in…. I’d rather say that it seems to me that the cord guide has a small indentation for the electric cord, and a bigger one for the purpose of dust collection. Those indentations should have been way deeper to be fully effective.
This saw does struggle with the built in dust collection. Works better with a shop vacuum attached for sure. Albeit that also makes cutting a little more difficult with a hose to manage.
Thank you for the review. I have had this saw for a couple months. Generally I like it, though I suspect the construction is somewhat cheaper than a "higher end" track saw might be. Mine starts right up to speed and has little if any wobble. The track had a dented corner (which Kreg replaced free of charge). I cut the dented end off and use it as a dedicated crosscut track with a rail square. The depth stop is faulty and cannot be tightened down enough to prevent it "self-adjusting" sometimes during a long rip especially in deeper stock. I took it apart and the square nut the knob screws into is too thin (or too poor quality metal) and will strip out before enough tension is reached. I think I can make a new one with hardware store parts, but I shouldn't have too -- it isn't built with durability in mind. Also, despite Kreg's assurance that the saw comes perfectly aligned, the blade was not even close to 90 degrees to the base and needed adjustment -- the details of which are not covered in the manual. I get a decent amount of chip-out with the blade on plywood cross cuts, not sure if this is just the nature of modern plywood with their paper thin veneers or an issue with the blade itself. Overall I don't regret my purchase and it is a good value, but in hindsight by the time you acquire the saw itself, several tracks, parallel guides and a rail square, the $150 or $200 you saved on the saw isn't all that significant.

The blade that comes with this saw is wildly underrated. Typically, you buy a product and you need to spend another $50 for a better blade. I have personally caught several hundred FEET of 1" thick oak flooring boards and the blade still cuts clean and with no smoke.

I think I figured out that I was trying to plunge the blade too quickly. If I give it a moment to spin up to speed, it seems fine. But the soft start is definitely a little slower than I would like.
@@DadDoingStuff You may want to contact Kreg support on that issue. I just bought the same saw, and it doesn’t have nearly as much play. Maybe they can help you fix the issue, or even get a replacement if your still under warranty.

Good question. It depends on which side you are cutting. It will always cut flush with the edge of the track. So if you measured from the side opposite the blade edge of the track, it’s pretty simple. But if you are measuring from the blade side then you would absolutely take into account the blade width. This comes into play mostly when ripping small widths of wood, like 2-3” wide. Hope that helps!
Track saws are designed to work with the track always on the final workpiece so you don't have to account for the saw kerf when you do this; the final cut will be *exactly* at the edge of the anti-chip strip so you can just line up on that and cut. That said, for thin rips you can line up the saw on the waste side and account for the saw kerf and it will work just fine. You may get a little bit extra chip-out depending on material because the piece you are keeping is not covered by the chip strip. If you do this a lot I recommend you pick up (or 3d print) a set of waste-side track saw jigs, they really do make this cut a lot simpler and will let you use the saw in new and cool ways ruclips.net/video/mXWd0Kb27LI/видео.html

So the new saw does have some lateral movement, but nothing near what the used saw has. From I can tell, the main pivot has what appears to be some kind of washer/spacer which I can see on the new saw. It appears to be plastic. And I don’t see it on the old saw at all. That’s precisely where the play is coming from. Now that I have a spare saw, I’ll tear into the old one to see if I can MacGyver a fix for it.
@@DadDoingStuff if you still haven't taken apart, perhaps using an e-clip will make it easier and act like a washer. Give us an update if you end up doing something to the old one.
You can get any of the other affordable plunge saws. All from the same factory, Scheppach, Titan, Erbauer, Triton, Einhell ect. There's a few differences but not many, mainly the blade being on the other side but ultimately that doesn't matter that much when you're on a track
Hey Stormy. So the black knobs are either for the bevel, or there are others that tighten the plate interface to the track. All of those are good. Bevel is solid, and no play on the track. That move is coming exclusively from the main pivot bolt, interface. My new saw has same play, albeit substantially less play than my used saw.

the play is definitely a deal breaker for me, but the blade is supposed to be plunged before any cutting anyways so that isn't too bad
