Note - These numbers are to simplify your decisions, these are obviously not absolutely correct numbers. Though the cars taken are pretty on much similar lines.
The cost calculated for EV is based on the electricity consumption to charge the entire battery, based on which per km cost has been calculated.
Also, insurance cost and servicing cost vary from city to city, hence, they haven’t been taken into calculation.

EV space is one of the most cash rich technology. Compare today's tech with 10 years in past, you will see same level of innovations in less than 2-3 years. I'm betting on battery cost to reduce 4 fold in 7-8 years in future.

@@ShahidMd-qe6hp 100% incorrect.
BS. Lithium mining costs are going up, and supply is dwindling. Look it up.

@@BadatyaTapan Boss if u want to argue for the sale of arguing, then there is nothing to say. But if u want exchange information and learn and share from it, then
1. EV are the most polluting vehicle. For developing the battery in it requires massive mining and is very destructive to nature.
2. The battery will spoil some day. Battery needs replacement with it reaches 80% capacity. And this depends on how fast or slow it reaches there. It should generally reach there in 3 years time.
3. Battery replacement is ~50% - 70% of the cost of car value. This is abomb expense which cannot be avoided
4. Battery's energy density is very poor unlike that of fossil fuel. so frequent charging required this will lead to reaching the charging cycle fast. Fast charging is more dangerous & good manufacturers recommended that never fast charge but if done then next 4 cycle should be normal charging. It is only for emergency use fast charging.
5. Insurance premiums are quite high. Now gov may give some sop but in the long run (in 2 yrs time all sops will be withdrawn including taxes)
6. If u get into any repairs, all cars r expensive but EVs r more expensive.
Hybrids are no different. It is the same EV + ICE (mechanical car). So higher cost.
All tech r evolving very fast. Its no point buying them now because all these are not stable techs yet. Eventually it looks like H2 cars will be the future.
Maruti will give 18-22 normal petrol and hybrid car 27-28.

Total Cost of Ownership includes invoiced value, insurance, regular maintenance cost. EVs are usually 30% more expensive than there petrol variants.
EVs are NOT meant for long routes. If you are going on a highway and suppose you stopped at a charging station which has only 4 charging points, all are occupied and there are 4 more cars in the queue before you waiting to be charged. If one car takes minimum 2 hours to charge, you will have to spend 2x4 = 8 hours minimum to plug your car to charge.
No one tells this hidden problem. EVs are most suitable for city driving. Hybrids are better because they would allow you go on a long drive too.
Only running cost doesn’t help in deciding the choice. You have to take into consideration other factors like depreciation, repairing cost and in case of EVs, battery pack longevity and its replacement cost. If you calculate all these costs, you will see EVs are way more expensive. And with this you have to take into account the fuel availability network i.e. petrol pump network vs EV charging network. There are other points also but I cannot explain all the points in this short space. Should I make a video on this?🤔

electric cars have been out for a long time now and most of the cars lasts easily for 10+ years, Don't judge too early, Eventually you would also switch to EV , It would become the norm in no time
@@erwin1831 may be you r right ... but iam talking about the current situation...
Here are some points that you should think about
Most you can get out of an PLUG IN (the best type of hybrid) is around 15km so once you run out of power , your engine (which in most cases is nerfed ) has to carry the dead weight of your battery and also somehow work as generator for it so the performance ( long run performance not a zero to sixty drag) is automatically thrown out of window .
Plus it decreases your luggage space
And as the cars mostly available aren't built from scratch for such weight , it somewhere affects your handling (most are fwd with big battery box in trunk ) so best of luck for high speed corners 🫣
Ps also applied for CNG 😉
bro, what do you think about the price of Li-ion batteries in the next 8-10 years? will prices stay the same or be reduced?
Running cost per kms is not the only criteria for deciding which is most cost effective car, unless one gets car for free 😂😂😂
Jab EV ka battery change karengz to ek sath itna money dena possible nahi hoga so EV car sabse bekar hai kyon uska resale nahi hai aur battery jab new daloge time pe bahut kharcha aa jayega thik hai
EVs have almost negligible maintenace costs compared to petrol and hybrids... Hybrids are actually worst of both the worlds... 2 systems to maintain and buy spare parts for... makes no sense
@@jalandharbehera24568 saal free
@@sayanchxin fact hybrid is the worst indeed. They need very high maintenance
Ev infrastructure is the main hurdle. There's not enough charging stations and charging speed is a major inconvenience which could culminate into a major setback for a user who paid twice the cost of regular car getting much worse experience when he refills
My diesel Brezza gives me 18-19 kmpl in city and 26-27 on highway. Per km cost on highway comes out to be less than 3.4 and in city it is 4.6. Most diesel cars if maintained will pass PUC test easily. Then why is government banning diesel cars 🤦.
Apart from running cost there’re lots of other factors are associated like paying extra money at very beginning, Range anxiety, maintenance costs of future etc.
The excel sheet is not available. can you please attach it again?
You have not considered higher Showroom price, higher insurance and higher interest for EV and Hybrid over petrol. Even after 1lakh kms, petrol is more economical
Electric cars insurance is higher , electric cars take a long time to recharge so requires planning , electic car charging is not possible for people in flats , electric car resale value is still not clear , electric cars modification is restricted, and future cost of electricity can also go up . Always remember car is a depreciating asset.

Running cost willbe calculated for EV must include battery price...
everyone forgets about the maintenance cost of the vehicle and other auxiliary costs, we have to decide on overall life time cost for 10 or more years. capital expenditure, fuel, maintenance, charges by govt etc
Please talk in term of total cost of ownership + over 5 years EV loses 70% value, hybrid loses 50% value and petrol loses only 30% value + battery replacement, subsidy wil not remain minimum for EV in future.
there is a reason why PHEV (plug in hybrid) cars are sold very costly. coz if they were below 20lacs, they would kill off the ICE and EV market.
imagine you have a PHEV, you can charge it at night on a regular house outlet. then this car can run upto 50km on pure EV mode.
this is what most cars are driven daily (esp in mumbai). also once driven to office, they can again be plugged to a standard plug at office parking spot to charge it again, so one does not have to use the ICE ( internal combustion engine) at all as long as distance is low enough.
now if one has to go for longer, the ICE engine kicks in and one can refill petrol anywhere.
best of both worlds.
now those saying car would weight a lot more, pls know that weight of an hybrid car is on par with weight of an EV car with its huge EV battery.
👌..true Bro..why PHEV cars are not sold in large numbers? Heard still there is no such car sold in India
PHEV needs more parts (both ICE and EV drive train), hence costlier. Plus the efficiency is lower than EV because it can not regen brake as aggressively as an EV due to small battery.
@@isotropicantenna there is not much diff between a hybrid and a PHEV, just 2, a bigger ev battery and charge point. And sales of hybrid in India are skyrocketing even without subsidy. Phevs has an ev mode which hybrids lack and that can actually qualify for subsidy. Rest of the advantages I have already explained. India is a huge country and we really cannot have etc charge point all over the country
Ideal is to have charge point in cities where phevs will use and run as EVs. While they will run as ICE cars in between cities without having range anxiety
@@prasannask8320 Battery and On board chargers are no cheap parts. Even though EVs have a huge cost of battery, they do not have the complicated parts of ICE, saving manufacturing cost over an Hybrid. There's a lot of extra baggage needed with IC engine to meet emission norms.
Currently parallel hybrids like Grand Vitara are more expensive than EV. In future if tax on EV is increased and on Hybrid is decreased, EVs and parallel hybrids will be competing in the same price segments. Series and PHEV will probably remain more expensive.
Given PHEV and EV costing the same and the lower running cost of EV over PHEV on long routes once Fast charging network catches up, PHEV will lose the advantage.
I estimate at least 60 kW fast charging is needed for EVs to be viable on long routes ie 100km of range in 15 minutes of charge.
@@isotropicantenna you really think an EV battery is easy to make ? are you aware that depending on region, EV battery needs air /water cooling or heating.
anyways my point is simple.
India has huge population spread over a vast area, in contrast, countries like Canada, Australia, even Russia has concentrated population pockets which are like 5% to 20% of the whole area, rest is inhabited, so they can afford to have EV chargers in those concentrated population pockets, Europe is similar, its land mass isn't that big and their population is also concentrated in dense pockets so for them , building EV points isnt a problem.
secondly, nowadays new mobiles come with fast charging, those mobiles dont last long ie the battery capacity degradation rate is higher . but since most mobiles are changed within 2-3 years, we dont care.
but cars wont be changed so frequently so having a faster charger willnot bode well for the longevity of the EV battery.
We need to add service charges also. Petrol vehicle service will cost you around 7K for every 5000 Km
Comparing ’same car with different variant’ leaved the chat.😂
(See pic in video start for better understanding)

Per year insurance cost of EV is more. Battery replacement cost is very high. 10 years ownership cost of all 3 types comes at the same level.

Analysis is incomplete ...Petrol is Cheaper for normal user...u have to spend heavily on EV and Hybrid
Petrol - 16L, Hybrid - 19L, EV - 21L. We save money on the running cost but for that we are making 5L extra up-payment. For that, I can buy 16L and spend remaining 5L for my petrol.
What about charging infra, rethink what you evaluated from the perspective of comfort and convenience of a car buyer you will see that petrol is the only good option if not hybrid

What about the battery replacement cost? People in countries like US and Europe are staying away from EVs after realising it
What about in the future current bill per unit rises ? What if government plan to put a license fee on the electronic batteries or current units ?
Please add cost of changing EV battery. If you add that whatever gain you have got will all be gone.
If everyone owns an EV, Electricity consumption will go up and per unit cost will increase. If the people switch to EV fuel demand will decrease and then you would see new petrol prices and tax will be reduced. Only time will tell. Wait and watch.
