It's not difficult at all . I would suggest studying and making sure to pay close attention to chest and limb lead placements as well as making the patient feel comfortable. Also, ask the instructor as many questions as possible and not be afraid to make a mistake. You'll be learning that's what instructors are for. I just completed Day 1 of my clinicals, and I'll be onto day 2 soon best of wishes
I have 9 months of GI Bill from my Dad serving in the Army, I've been brainstorming with my therapist what I could go to school for and we're concluding that I should try to become an EKG tech. So far I've found that getting certified could take 2 weeks or 6 months depending on who trains me. Also, I heard that I need a BLS/CPR certification as well. I'm still watching the video, but in simple terms, could someone tell me what my first 'foot in the door' should be?
Is it possible to get externship un canada? Like does the university also work with hospitals in canada where i can do externiship since i live in canada...
Hey there! That's definitely a possibility :) Many hospitals and healthcare orgs are willing to pay for nursing school (LPN/LVN/RN) for their employees who are already working with them as a Medical Assistant, EKG tech, etc.
Hello, I am a registered medical assistant and I may be interested in becoming an EKG Technician to boost my career. Is an externship guaranteed? And my employer requires 160 hours for an externship, would that be possible? Thank you
Absolutely! The Externship is a huge and unique bonus to get that value hands-on experience and training for your resume :) They're a minimum of 40 hours but can be higher based on your availability and the healthcare facility. Yes, it's flexible and can be scheduled on your free time!
Interesting in Quebec we are Technologue in Electrophysiology medical. So we can do EEG, ECG, EMG, Polysomno etc. But it's only in the province of Quebec
It can vary depending on when you take the exam. Currently, its $125. You can check this link for more details - www.nhanow.com/certification/nha-certifications/certified-ekg-technician-(cet)
Hey there! No, you only need to choose one...the beauty of the program though is that you're prepared for all of them! The CET is the most common, so after the program I would take that one :)
What university is preppy accredited with? you never said. Also i am a telemetry tech at my local hospital just montioring the monitors in the patient's rooms. My job is going to train us on the ekg machine. If my job trains me is that considered a certification?
Hello, I'm a medical assistant and work in cardiology department. I'm planning to enroll ekg technician and finish it God willing. Question: Can I do my internship in the place where i work or i go somewhere?
That's great. The externship is completely optional. Our course support team will be able to assist you better :)
2nd question you know how cna certification only last a certain amount of time if they don’t work more than like 24 hr a month or something like that. If we pass and get our ekg certificate how long can we leave it “un active” do to looking to get hired ? Does it expire? 😅
Yep, with NHA's CET certification, you have to renew every 2 years. You can do that by paying a small fee and Continuing education (CE) credits. For more details, you can check the NHA's website.
Yeah, I did. I enrolled in November, and I'm currently doing the externship. I live in Jersey, but from what I read, they help arrange externships in all the states. So overall, I can easily recommend Preppy
