Does this stand true with a 4mm or even an 8mm drop shoe, meaning landing on your forefoot or mid foot no matter the drop?

I injured my big toe possibly due to running in Vibram Fivefingers. I might have been landing too much on the forefoot where my heel didn't even touch the ground really. What should I do to relieve the pressure placed on forefoot and toes? Thanks!

You have to let the heel touch after the forefoot, then back to the forefoot to push off. The heel must gently touch for a slight moment or it will quickly over stress the calves and Achilles
Also forefoot doesn’t mean toe running. It’s more fore/midfoot where the foot is at its widest point “the ball of the foot”. If you toe run you’ll have sore calves and quit before you can strengthen them

You need to explain that you can't have low impact landing without correct body position and posture. Not to mention the most simple focus is relaxing the lower leg and ankle.

If you're thinking about your landing, you're doing it WRONG. A low-impact, forefoot landing is a byproduct of a proper gait. There are much, much more important things you should be focusing on during your running.
