This tutorial was awesome. We'd already purchased a new TV on backorder. We thought we'd give this repair a go not expecting much. The parts arrived, we followed the instructions (similar TV, a 50") and fixed the problem. I'm cancelling that back order! Thanks for posting this, better for my pocket and better for the environment to self repair.
Many thanks for this tutorial. I have never even touched anything like this in my life. I followed it step by step and fixed my TV! I am so surprised. Amazing! Thank you!
Thanks for the video. It took me 3 hours to replace the LEDs on my LG55UJ6300, it had a blue tint for years. I was stuck at removing the LVDS cable part, until I realized i had to lift up the grey clips before pulling out the cables. The reflecting sheet was very hard to put it back in unlike how its shown in the video, as the holes would barely fit the size of the LEDs so it ripped the sheet at every hole. Its just in very bad shape after reinstalling. I wonder if there is another way to easily install the sheet. It didn't seem to affect the light tho. Other than that, the rest of the steps are pretty straight forward.
Gonna try this soon. Just got a broken TV for free so might as well try to repair it. The screen flashes but everything else seems to be working just fine
At 3:00 you tape the scan drive boards to the panel. One of those thin ribbon cables is partially disconnected on my TV. Before starting this repair, I had an image on the screen but no backlight and during the repair I damaged the scan drive board ribbon cable and now I have backlight but no image. How can I fix that?
I did this on my LG 55LN-5710 and the 4 strips at the top of the screen are brighter than the 3 at the bottom and you can see very fain circles of light from the top 4 but not the bottom 3 (they run at around 148v, or around 3v per LED at the top, and around 98v or around 2.7v per LED at the bottom) what could cause this and what is the appropriate fix?
Just replaced the LED strips on my 55" LG HD tv but didnt keep the diffusion panels in order. when i put it back together it has cage effect ghosting on bright areas. i need to know how the diffusion panels go back in the right order ? thanks.
I have Samsung 55", I guess from the darkness - top 2 LED strip rows disconnect from time to time. When top led strips are off and you hit really hard from the back of the TV it works again for a day of few days - this is common practice for all things made in Russia, but this is Korean product so jokes aside can you please confirm that this is just lack of contact and I do not need to replace strips? I do not think that led strips are defective as if they would they would not work 100% of the time. Thank you.
LG has serious problem of this backlight, even the guys know and just come and replace it. Serious issue, quality problem. Just today I had it replaced for without any reason. LG should mention that it will work for 2 years only.
I know this comment is a year old, but for anyone else wondering if you can do this - it's possible but not recommended. This is a common problem with LG, most of their LED strips only last about 2 years. If you just replace the broken LEDs, the rest of the other LEDs still have that 2 years of wear on them and are on their way to burning out as well. So you might just end up opening the TV again a couple weeks later
I hav an LG 55inch LED. It comes on sumtymes but it will go dark but with sound still playing. It turns on but it only flashes light & I can still hear sound. If I wait a while it will come on with picture again but not for long. It works then it doesn't work. But the sound always works. The stand by light works so Im getting Power. It jus wont give picture consistently. Eveything looks brand new when I took the tv apart. Can you help!? Lol
Hi, I have an LG 55LA620V and its currently switching off the back light when energy mode is off. i swap it to Medium and below and it works fine, would this be the tcon board or LED strips ?
We got our 2017 60" LG smart TV new in 2018. Now the top half of the screen is much dimmer than the bottom half all the time. I'm thinking that it just has some of the LEDs out.
Jeff Stone mine did the same thing. It started off with blue spots on the screen and got worse over time. Now the top half is dim. I believe I have the same one you do. Im ready to buy another tv, not LG by the way.
@@autonomousglisteningwater2286 I ended up ordering replacement LED strips for it. Kind of a pain to replace, not difficult just tedious, but the picture is like new again. So far so good.
@@autonomousglisteningwater2286 Just be really careful when you pull the screen up or off, I just opened this one up like a book, but if I had it to do over again I'd have gotten a couple suction cups to lift the screen. I just used my hands and I guess I let the screen bend too much and now there's a couple very fine pinstripes in the far left side of the screen going vertically. At first I was upset about it but they're not that visable, we don't even notice them anymore.
Annnnndddd I just destroyed by LCD 55" Samsung. That screen is so fragile, it snapped when I was removing the outer frame :( Blame it on the virus.....
Can anyone help me I have ordered new led strips fitted them to my LG tv and put the tv back together and now the tv won’t power up at all, it was working fine before replacing the leds the backlight just kept flashing intermittently, I’ve tried disconnecting the backlight cable and other connectors and reconnected but nothing works
Question. Will replacing the backlight, which is replacing LED strips, fix ghosting, vertical lines, and the display eventually going dark? Anyone, anybody had an answer??
Unable to turn on. LED at bottom panel only blicking. Thought is capacitors conked out but after removal of back panel, they seems ok. Follow your troubleshooting but not so skillful. Shop wants about $300 for these replacement. In the end trade in as faulty TV set for a new unit.
Great video but...nah man! Way too much for me. i will pay someone to do it. I have a 70 inch LG 3D model that i got brand new in 2015 and by the end of 2018 the backlight went out. LG sent a LG tech out and he didn't want to do it so he gave me a ridiculous $2100.00 estimate claiming it was my screen when we all knew it was the backlight. I think I will call LG again and see if they can send someone else out before I call regular repair guy.
I managed to pull this off thanks to this video. A "List of Tools" in the comments area would have been very helpful. Thanks for the video!
Yes, three minutes in is when you learn you need *suction cups?*
So what tools did you use, please share with viewers. Thx

Where/how did you get right led strips for your TV ?
Thanks, I was ready to throw out my LG 55". I bought the LED strips off eBay and saved from buying a new TV.

Awesome video. I want to try it on my LG 55LB620V.
But I dont know which stipes I should get.
My model is not listed on your website.
Great video, you make that look so easy. I know it’s not your first rodeo….🥊
How on earth do the power clips come out from the end of the led strip, i cant see an obvious way and boy are they tight!

That's more likely a mother board problem haha it's too late for him but that's a lot easier of a fix if anyone's reading this
Are the suction cups really needed for this?? If so, where can I get some?

I broke the 5 white clips on the white film above the led strips. Can I get replacements?
Is there a tv where the backight strips can be removed from the back without removing the fragile screen?

It also depends on the hours of use.

My LG all LEDs are on when first turned on, but three or four vertical rows go out about 20 seconds after. Is this a power supply issue or LED issue?
Just be careful! Those LCD displays need to be PERFECTLY straight. The slightest bend, and it's KABLAMMEY!
Is it possible to change only the damaged LEDs? For example with soldering

I think this may be over my head. Can you suggest a repair company in Northern Colorado, please?
U can do it just label everything that u take apart

when I turn on my tv with the back off, I see the backlights flash for a split second. Are the lights bad or a board?
Todd McDowell I know it’s been 7 months but it is your led’s just FYI if you didn’t already know thanks
What's with the music on these videos? It's totally unneccessary.
I have just done this but now have horizontal lines through my display. What will be causing this?
