How to Replace the LED Strips on LG TV No Backlights / No Picture - EASY AND CHEAP!

- Found this LG 42LN5300 in the dumpster, so i thought i would fix it up and share my progress and success in replacing the LED Strips. Tv works great and is super bright.
Be sure to keep the light level at the lowest comfortable level, don't have it on full brightness unless you really need to - this will extend the life of the LEDs.
Same process for most LED TV's as well.

For anyone watching... be careful! I didn't put the actual LED panel back on smoothly and cracked it. The backlights work great now LOL
Good video showing a common problem with these types of TVs. Everyone should learn how to do this, it's only a matter of time when these go out.

This is great! I have an LG UJ635 and the screen had a blue tint that kept getting worse. I just replaced the backlight using this video as a guide and my TV looks brand new again. Not only is the blue tint gone, the brightness and contrast has improved greatly.

How did u know the serial number of the tv models backlight without disassembling it first to order it?
@@mikseymono1 you can get them from eBay
@@vatchoug Serial numbers are on the white sticker at the back of TV just under the Make/Model number and will usually begin with TV size no. so a 42” LG tv serial number will start LG 42xxx
In every video I've seen how about TV repair, I've never seen anybody mention the digital ribbon cables I knew they were there I didn't know what they were called thank you thank you!
well i was confident and carefull, broke my 65inch lcd by barely move it, well anyways gonna buy another tomorrow :)
I had a similar TV only 47 inch. just soldered across the bad LEDs to get it back running. But looking at getting the proper backlights strips now to improve the picture quality. I would have never noticed that the strips on the left were of different length until you said it. Thanks for that.

@@sarcasticmcspastic I guess but I would never purchase a broken tv and fix it. Too many for free out there. People should pay you to take it! There’s no way to get rid of a broken tv without it costing you a lot of money.

Great vid. The only thing I can critique after watching a few of these vids is you should have been wearing gloves when removing the screens.

I just tried to change my LED lights…. I failed.. :( I broke the glass because I never removed it exactly like you did… sucks.. I was waiting so long to do this… awe well guess I will buy a new tv… also, could you please make a video on how to repurpose all these LED lights I have? That would be sweet. Thanks man!

Just picked up one of these here (dumpster surfing) in April '23 and its flashes just after power on - set powers on for a brief bit as seen by the LG logo then goes blank! I reckon I'll dive into it and be checking the LED strips now ... side note: I had to walk 3/4 mile with my two-wheel dolly, then walk back that same 3/4 miles WITH the TV strapped to the dolly to get the TV ... arms are still sore this morning ...

How do all the LEDs break at the same time? Is this a stupid question?
Just takes one LED to blow then that affects the continuity of the backlight circuit.
My LG TV is showing blue tint. Read on some forum that it is due to the back light LED too.. wondering should I try to change it.. Any advise?
I might have to attempt this, nervous about it my TV is an 85inch 😬

DID the screen had a frame around it to lift off the screen?
So, did you took a picture or you had make a diagram from the old LED's because i discern confuse you at 10:55.

Say, did you ever get that black and white TV with scratches like someone was playing Tic Tac Toe back? Way back in 1974, Guys Groovy Grab Bag stole it from your store, then sold it to Grady Wilson for $50 then stole it back and sold it to Fred Sanford (for $50) then Fred tried to sell it to Julio (also for $50). Then Hoppy and Smitty (LAPD) came and took it from Fred and they were supposed to bring it back to you.

Attempted this with my 43" LG that went blue, replaced the 3 strips no issues, being super careful with everything but now I plug back in I just get 3 flashing red light out of the front and then nothing, no display, sound or anything... :/
I ripped one the ribbons that's attached to the hdtv screen and the skinny circuit board. Am I screwed?

Backlights , one or more LEDs blown. Easy fix (after you have totally stripped down your TV -as shown in the video) 😊

Also, the processors in these tvs eventually get outdated and slow. It's cheaper to replace a devices than a whole tv

Dont watch if you want a price on the led strips, he doesn't tell you. Basic cost of leds? I didn't catch the price which would give me a idea if I want to spend that money or junk it. Helpful info that's needed...
They’re between $15-$30 and can be found by searching up your TV’s exact model on Aliexpress.
