The jazz elements EJ have added to his playing are refreshing
It’s taken long enough😉
What?? Maybe you oughta go listen to his playing from the 70’s with The Electro Magnets
he was all over jazz elements in the mid 1970s when he was the guitarist for the Electromagnets ruclips.net/video/W8cJP4EXKRE/видео.html
He was playing jazzy in the late seventies early eighties with carole king
Just pure bad asses!!! Need an album from these guys!
Bass guitar is the ruler on this one. Nice.
Andy Hess is a beast!
@@mozartsp he kills it everytime i see. amazing bandleader. bass players get there due 100%
That Bassist is a giant!!
This is one of the coolest meetings of two monster guitarists who play different styles (although not as different as one might think...listen to EJ playing in the Electromagnets...) with a killer rhythm section. Would have loved to have been there!
Never heard Eric play like that!
lazloleif reminds me of Allan Holdsworth
Different gear makes you play different, he should do this more often.
Oh he can play that shit, check him out playing with Mike Stern live
@@porkbelly0713 haha! yup!
🤯
This is brilliant 4 musicians jamming dosent get much better than this TIGHT
Two very best. Shades of electro magnets. Wish I could have been there. Great rhythm section.
Thank you for this. Of all ofthe guitarist pairings I've seen over the years, THIS is the one I've been waiting for! Love these guys!
Time well spent, watching this. I had other things to do, but this is what I would have preferred to do, and I did.
Eric should make a duo album with Mike Landau, as he did with Mike Stern.
that would be wonderful
Alex Guitarfan, and this time, with twin vocal, hopefully, because Mike and Eric are nice singers both. That would be nice as Renegade Creation...
@@ATAK335 Yeps nice vocals and would be cool to hear those both in the same setting.... would love if both Mike and Eric really took some time and developed some jams and compositions together and captured it on a cool studio album and a live concert :-)
Yeah but a Jazzy ambient album, with clean sound. Landau with his Dytronics tri chorus and Eric with the TC SCF.
I just love me some Mike Stern and have almost every CD he has ever released. I saw him at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta many years ago
landau is THE MAN
Andy Hess in the Bass Guitar! 🔥👏👏👏👏
Great tune, the key changes in the guitar is actually brilliant, each player not stepping on each other’s solo. Great stuff!
Great Jam.....Andy Hess just took me to school. Respect.
Alan Hertz seems very underrated. He is crazy good. Band is amazing. Thanks
Eric playing other people's music almost highlights even more how incredible he is
Wow! Thanks for sharing! Two giants playing with, fire, soul, passion and chops! The band is amazing and right there all along!
Thanks for the video Sir.
Landau...... This Cat...brings out the best with who-ever he plays with....
Saw the Renegade Creation tour in its infancy. Hearing Robben freak out with him was zen. I saw the Carlton/Lukather show in 2001 - same deal. I always thought of Larry as a highly refined player, but pairing up with Luke brought out the flame-throwing monster in him. A rare treat.
Mike is so amazing.... Those dudes groove, feel, dynamics.... completely another level.
Wow, masters at work!
Brilliant. Thank you 🙏
oh wow i always dreamed these cats would play together! :-) beautiful sounds... please do more:)
Andy Hess is my new hero!
Thanks for sharing!💯
Thx for posting
Abstract and so cool
Playing in a parallel universe somewhere. Awesome!
Two Master in the guitar player My respect.
two masters in action
They're killin' it!!!!
Wow ! Thanks for posting.Great jam! More please:)
Wow .. fantastic guitar...The ensemble is so cool...Thank you for sharing your music video..Look forward to the next video..동행
i love music,,,music is love...
Too great!
Bravo!
simply Amazing:)
I am so glad that I can bare witness to seeing these two with guitars in their hands on a stage, ripping some fuckin' SHIT!!! 💙💙💙🧨🧨🧨💙💙💙
Once upon I had to seen Alan Hertz with scott henderson in campeche mexico. This drummer is great
of course Eric Johnson is a master but I am waiting for .......Michael Landau-Scott Henderson ..... please !!!!!
Top level
That had to be a thrill!
I agree with all the comments below. Master musicians, and masterful musicality. They all listen to each other
Sublime!
On and on it goes.
killer band !
Awesome!!!!!
Hey Eric, the audience is this way.
very very good........................................................
Give Eric Credit for getting stage with this guys !
Why? What are you trying to say?
sweet jams guys! let get on a show in Austin together May of 2020
No words
Mr Landau, your amps are waiting here in London for your next gig at Ronnie’s
EJ’s tone in this is super cool
Blueberry jam.. plenty of fruit and low sugar content.. great for your mind and vision.. the art of not overplaying.. I wish I was there ..
Conversa de gente grande.
EJ is UNREAL..
wow...............
I want Michael Landau's guitar !!!
i feel this way every time i see him play that beauty! it sounds so unique and amazing!
This is epic. Different style of EJ
Andy Hess great, as usual; I saw him playin with Robben Ford
Reminds me of Mark Knopfler vocally!
I was thinking the same thing
Badasssss!
These two have something serious going on
So many people on here acting like EJ can’t hang or that this is him branching out of his comfort zone. What?!?!?
Educate yourselves. Check out 70’s Electromagnets etc
If you listen to EJ and don’t hear Jazz or John McLaughlin do yourself a favor and listen 👂.
The drum and bass --just dare you --set a nice canvas to play on!
The bass player is the protagonist here
I love those 2 monsters of guitar players - but that bass player tho - damn.......
👏👏👏
Would loved to have seen Shawn Lane in this jam.
Eric is on fire superb, don’t think I’ve seen landau out played before?!
nice post
This performance seems to be quite polarizing judging by the comments section. Landau's tone is great, Landau's tone is bad. EJ is amazing and playing jazz runs, no wait, he's cramming ideas! Landau is the master, Landau is simple. The drummer is rushing and playing too much, no wait he's flat and boring! Seems like every opinion directly contradicts the next. Odd that a guitarist sitting in with a friends band for a random performance, could be so divisive and that people could hear the same thing so differently.
Well, it's gonna sound like I'm being uber critical, but I for one found the drumming not that steady, and I'm surprised to have that impression bec Alan Hertz played w/Scott Henderson for years. And I thot the bass overplayed under the solos. Oh yeah, the mix sucked and maybe it's not the best tune for a sit-in jam. Otherwise..
@@pneumatic00 I agree, the guy is rushing it like crazy. Always.
@@nickh1933 You're being critical of people being critical. Take your own advice.
@@retroradio2277 You just made the world implode in on itself, and not in a good way.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What are the pickups in Mike's Strat?? Killer tones.
Lollar Imperials.
Woah! Where can I find more Eric Johnson playing that outside stuff?
He is outside in the video for Stratagem
Him playing with Mike Stern
Play with oz noy,watch it
Check out his material with "The Electromagnets" from the mid to late 70's.
Two of the greatest guitar players in the world. Would like to see Michael playin´with Guthrie Govan !
or Andy Timmons
I notice a Tyler Guitar on the stage.
Oh, Frazee's guitar
nice
Alan Hertz is a multi talented cat.
Rushing like crazy
@@lorenzmuller3542 Really?, how can Landau accept such shit? Alan plays with a lot of talented people, and produces.
@@ecarteringram I don't know. It's certainly rushing. It's not like for instance Stewart Copeland or sometimes Colaiuta pushing and driving, it really is genuine rushing.
@@lorenzmuller3542 I'll let him know lol. Vinnie and Stewart are the creme de la creme. Thats a bar thats pretty tough to clear. BTW, i've seen Jeff Beck Slow Vinnie down on a number of occasions. But your points are well taken. Ain't music grand?
Andy Hess..this is one great bass player....does Scofield rin g a bell.
3:46 :) Mike enjoy the Tone! ;)
🙌
Michael's guitarist is pretty good. He should start a band.
xsited1 yeah, Eric Johnson should 😁
Andy Wood on drums...
Alan Hertz
Why don't they play to crowd that actually cares what they sound like?
Love the playing but I agree all you can hear is drums and little finesse there.
I thought Eric was taller than Michael Landau, turns out the opposite.
Yeah so did I. I can't believe my eyes. Maybe I should get a new pair of glasses. 😂
Il est où le son?
That rhythm section is the cats ass!
All I heard was drums and bass... I wish I could hear more guitar... And more cowbell, definitely more cowbell!
Seems Johnson is having troube facing the public.
It’s not that, he’s totally concentrating on the music...not concerned with the crowd.
:O
Does anyone posting here 1) speak English, 2) know anything about music?
Eric needs a BC Rich Warlord and 5150 amp.. come on Eric..
back to root..
😆
Well this song went know where
Two remarkable players, one soulful, the other not so, but this is hard to listen to. Less is more..
That drummer is obviously very very good. But this was a little too hard to listen to. He must’ve been super amped or something. At one point I swear Eric shoots him a look like, damn dude chill for a bit! 😂😂😂 leave some space homie!
ahhh.... i´m always used to hear Gary Novak with Mike Landau ... pity he´s not touring with them now ... this drummer is just average metronome guy (flat sound) with no creativity and own chops ... pity ... it could be 6 levels higher with Gary. otherwise brilliant as always
