Eddie would have been proud of this tribute Michael. RIP EVH.
@Kevin Jones Yup, me too.
I was going to same the same! Such a great talent, doing a tribute to such a great talent.
Absolutely Right!!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍
Such talent... He should go far with talent like that.... 😁👍
Michael is unbelievably good - too bad he wasn't born in the 60s. Great playing, outstanding on all of his videos
EDDIE IS ALIVE! Because of his musical legacy.
He lives on through his music, and through other people he inspired!
Здравствуйте, Игорь! =)
Great playing!
Yes, indeed he has!!🙏🙏🙏🙏
Absolutely!
I immediately thought of Lemmo as soon as I heard about Eddie's passing from a friend at work today. Figured there wouldn't be a Guitar of the Day. This is an incredible tribute. So cool... RIP EVH
I was working from home and this popped up, first thing called the store and norm was so nice to talk to for a minute. A crazy loss
I figured as much too. Cheers Lemmo and RIP #EddieVanHalen
I was one of the lucky ones who saw VH on their 1st tour in 1978 - Flint, Mi. Backup to Montrose and Journey. What a great display of guitar chops with Schon and Montrose.....but, VH played their entire 1st LP and basically f-in blew the whole crowd away. After this show, I knew their days of being a backup band were OVER!! RIP Eddie, you're up there with the legends...and thanks Mr. Lemmo for a wonderful tribute. I know this is hard on you...😔
I saw the same tour in Albany NY. Amazing what energy. Best tour ever. Thanks Michael! You did a great dedication! RIP EVH!!
Ben Curti Schon and Montrose had to be looking at this kid like.... where the hell did this guy come from? I mean for 1978 that was some Intense and original guitar playing/sound. The tone of the first 4 albums are unreal.
@@ledflaplin2001 you are absolutely correct led. Here's another thing about that show...you had some younger kids brought by their parents and or grandparents to see Steve Perry of Journey...a big heartthrob for the girls. I vividly remember a lot of stunned looks on their faces after the Eruption solo...no kidding..the WTF did I just hear look!
@@bencurti7693 So awesome. Thanks for sharing that 🍻💯
I saw their first tour at the Oakland Coliseum day on the green. They followed the opening act: AC/DC.
Eddie Van Halen, the greatest rock guitarist ever, died today. For his unmatched chops, originality, inventions for the guitar and amp, he was the best. His influence on lead guitarists for years to come was like an atomic bomb going off when Van Halen I came out in 1978. RIP.
He was light years ahead of anyone else at the time and still is.
Jack Daniel's are mourning as we speak !!!
@@lipptech1 He is a master but later we will say the same things about Satriani, Vai, Morello, Yngwie and maybe some others
@@phenixreturns there’s quite a few players that surpassed him. Evh stuff I was playing in 7th grade. It wasn’t till senior year I got into blues where the real stuff is at. Eddie Van Halen was a gangster though no one else sounds like that. Licks that make panties drop
Such a crying shame you had to make this tribute Michael - but as ever, you played in a way millions of us can only aspire to. Nicely done, sir.
A mesmerising tribute for an incredible all time great. Rip Eddie. Stay safe everyone
rest in peace. a hero to everyone who ever picked up the guitar.
Thats a fact!
I'm absolutely gutted.
This one hurts bad. 😥
Back in the late 70's our local FM 'rocker' was prohibited by terms of its Government of Canada broadcast license from playing stuff as heavy as "Runnin' With the Devil' and similar VH tunes. Instead, in the summer of '79, they played the heck out of "Dance the Night Away'...and we were hooked. When that station finally had its license terms amended to allow for harder rock, around the summer of 81, they broke the news to the listeners by letting Eddie and the boys do the "talking" with Eruption into You Really Got Me. Damn near blew the windows out of my mom's Tercel. RIP, EVH.
🤘🍻💯
Woah
It is a sad day for all guitarists. Eddie was technically brilliant he was so exceptional in that regard that it is easy to overlook the fact that the things he played were completely unique and original. Every guitarist who is old enough can remember the first time they heard Eddie. There were many great players who came before him with Clapton being the most prominent. And while Eddie acknowledged Clapton's influence he certainly didn't sound like him. Like Hendrix, who is probably the only other guitarist in his league, Eddie had his own voice. You can always recognize his style (kudos to Mike for demonstrating some of his classic licks) because nobody played like that before Eddie arrived on the scene. And Eddie didn't try to play like anyone else. I can only imagine the incredible creativity of his mind and you can hear it exploding out of him when he played. There have been those who try to imitate him but they always fall short because a copy is never as good as the original. And even if you have the chops to execute some of what he played, remember. Execution is maybe 10% of music. The rest is divided between expression and creation. When you listen to what he created and realize how completely original it was you can start to appreciate his genius.
All of us should count ourselves lucky to have been alive during his lifetime and to have had the chance to see and hear him as he developed as an artist. I'm sorry to have been babbling on but this is a terrible loss. He was a giant of an artist and attention must be paid to his passing.
💯💔🍻🤘🐐
Also remember the player Jimi Hendrix said was better than himself: Terry Kath.
@@cheril8891 Shutup.
Very well written. Thanks
WORD!
That was probably one of the most heartfelt salutes yet. Understood in any language and felt around the world in only the way a guitar player who grew up with his influence can really experience. Thanks Ed, you added a lot to my life personally. Rest well.
Thank you, Lemmo, Jen, everyone at NRG. The sun couldn't set on this day without THIS performance!
Lemmo looks like he's been crying, he loved Eddie. I did too. This one hurts.
The Van Halen family use to live just two houses down from my parent's house in Pasadena. Eddie use to come over to hang out with my older brother, they played baseball together. I was 7 in 69, Eddie was 14, same as my big brother. Eddie was very laid back and a great guy to be around. You would always hear music in the Van Halen house, the brothers played the piano and Father played the clarinet. The last time I saw Eddie was when I was 18 in 1980... Rest in Peace Ed...
I first heard Van Halen on the radio, The Border Blaster X-ROK 80, 150,000 watts from Cd. Juarez Mexico/EL Paso Texas the Top 40 station that just kicked major ass! Hearing "You Really Got Me" in early 1978 and then "Running With The Devil" singles on the air. Then I heard the album. It was like no other. Just the best ever!! RIP Eddie.
I heard it, I heard it, I heard it on the X
@@MrJamescord right on! I loved that station. Then it fillpped to Spanish in late '78 or early 79. And what a bummer!!
Thanks Michael. EVH is one of those ones that can never be replaced. Like SRV. Just over the top, and will be sadly and sorely missed. Sad day for sure. Thanks again Lemmo.
We were blessed to have lived during Edward Van Halen's lifetime.
42 years now that I have been a fan of his work.
We love you Edward!
Rest in peace, Edward.
I can't believe Eddie Van Halen died , I just heard this & omg , I love him so much , since I was 15 & I'm 62 now , my Prayers go out to his family & friends & all who love him , Rest In Power Angel 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 it hurts 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you
If you honor your heroes by living your truth as a player, you bring to light the impact they had on everyone who has ever been influenced or moved by them. What better tribute could anyone ask for? Well done Lemmo. RIP EVH
Thanks Mike, tears in my eyes brother....nuff said!
Chills. Lemmo you are an absolute beast and you inspire so many of us. You are the first person I thought of when I heard the news. This was incredible. Extremely well done. The music world lost a legend today.
Guitar Heroes get remembered but Guitar Legends never die! RIP EVH!!!
Truly heartbreaking. One of my guitar heroes is gone, but never forgotten. RIP Eddie.
Thank you Norm and Lemmo for this and for helping our guitar community during this sad time...
RIP EVH ✌♥️🤘
Nice video so sad to see yet another legend pass away
Thank you Michael Lemmo. Very emotional for me... Beautifully done.
Thank you for all the joy you brought to my soul, R.I.P Edward.
AWESOME, Michael!!! Thank you!!
There's what I was waiting for. Thank you Lemmo for playing us out.
only Lemmo could do such justice to the legend , a tragic loss , rock n roll has lost one its most prolific game changer , no one before him and no one since has matched his contribution to guitar playing madness , a hero to most all rock guitarists of today , thanks Michael , well done , a fitting and apt GOTD
Awww Mike looks so sad at the end. We all are. REST EASY EVH
EVH is now a true guitar hero! He will remain in our heart for the next century if not more!!!
Like he wasn't before?
He’s immortalized in the music and the way he changed the game
FOBI absolutely!! He’s probably the father of tapping!!!
wayback playback you’re right but you should watch the video of Billie Eilish of Music is Win, he is talking about what a true guitar hero is! And that’s what im referencing by saying that! :)
Thank you Michael.
Hats off Michael, great tribute. Tonight we all go to sleep with a piece of our hearts broken, hopefully we wake up tomorrow and see the sunrise and continue on knowing we will always have the music to pull us up when we are down .
best tribute i've seen so far...think i'll watch again...thanks eddie!!!
Thank you Michael much respect brother. Rest in peace Eddie Van Halen
That tender “Thanks, Eddie” at the end makes me teary eyed. RIP Eddie
It's a sad day in the world of music. Rest In Peace Eddie.
Truly a superlative performance. I got tears 2 plus years later......the is no quantifiable way to show Eddie's influence or reach. Bravo.
Eddie's looking down from Heaven saying, "Thanks Mike. Never stop rocking."
Michael,
I know you are a huge EVH fan. What you are doing by honoring Eddie means a lot. R.I.P. EVH 1955-2020.
That was very nicely done... beautiful job on the Eruption part, fast & clean.
RIP Eddie, you will never be forgotten.
"One of the world's greatest guitarists has died,Eddie Van Halen was 65".I was parked on a street when that came over the radio.I immediately gasped and froze for about a minute.I was stunned.I knew this might be coming since he was battling cancer but evh s music has been part of my life soundtrack for nearly 40yrs.I can't imagine a world without this wizard.Glad I saw him with DLR live in 84-best show ever.Jagger,Richards,Plant,Page mustnt go.
THANK YOU FOR THIS LEMMO. YOU MADE GREAT RESPECT FOR EDDIE !!!!!
Show that picture of Eddie and Lemmo!
Dialed in. You’re amazing, pal. RIP Eddie
You can really tell how much he meant to you buy the way you played that. That's how you honor the man. Great job Lemmo 👊
Eddie wasn't a guitar hero
he was and is THE ULTRA-MEGA GUITAR HERO
its a huge loss...prayers go out to his family....Alex, Wolf, Val and others...
Eddie was one of the very best, goes without saying, but it's very much worth saying on this sad day. Rest in peace, rock brother. You were a very bright light in our world of music. 👍👍👍👍👍
Lemmo my brother I am sorry for your loss, I know Eddie was your inspiration.
Brother you couldn't have played a better tribute. You're truly gifted!
RIP EDDIE! I’ve been waiting for this since I heard the news
Such a sad day but such amazing playing. Fantastic job man! RIP Eddie
Great job Michael I know he was a good friend of yours his music will go on forever it was a great man God bless
I am playing this hell of loud!!! Needed to hear Eddie's amazing sound once again!...the fading sound at the end is very emotional. Thx Michael.
Hey Michael he’d be smiling at this tribute brother 👊
I think he is smiling.
RIP, Eddie Van Halen. That was a great tribute and brilliantly played. That it sounded just as good on a vintage Strat through a Tweed as it did through EVH's rig is a testament to the fact that his greatness was in his hands and his brain, not his gear.
@the supernatural I don't know the years specifically, but given the rosewood board and small headstock, it's probably early '60s.
The Summer of 84 was the best year of my life. I was 10 years old, not a care in the world and Jump was playing in every car passing by. The 1984 album was my introduction to VH. RIP Eddie.
Tears on my fretboard. Thank you Mr. VanHalen
That was awsome, if I closed my eyes it sounded just like him.😊
Michael thank you for the tribute. After watching you play Van Halen a number of times, I knew you would honor Eddie. Reminds me of 1978 in the back seat of a 1970 Nova, 350 4bbl, 3 speed on the floor, Pioneer cassette and Jensen 6 x 9, 3 ways blasting You Really Got Me, with my best friends Mike and Roger. Those were the days!
I first heard the juggernaut known as Van Halen when Runnin' with the Devil came on the radio... and yes.. as a single off their debut album. Wayyy back in the day. They had a MAMMOTH impact on the fusion of radio rock/metal. Eddie is to guitar what George Lucas is to cinema. Gone too soon. I think Dimebag is pouring the shots tonight, and Eddie will be the guest of honor. Rock on!
I got that reference.
So damn good. Thanks for the tribute Lemmo, we lost a great today.
Thanks for the respect! Such a sad sad day!
Eddie thank u for everything, you're music didn't get old! Support!
I remember seeing EVH as a young guitarist on tour years ago, and I was absolutely mesmerized by what he could do with the instrument on stage. I am sure he had that effect on MANY guitarists, lol. He was a uniquely talented person, and we were fortunate to hear him do something he so obviously loved for so long. It’s infectious; I know he made me want to be a better guitar player. My heart tonight is with his family and those closest to him, and I say RIP to EVH, truly a genius at his craft. An amazing medley rendition of some of his classics, Lemmo. You could really feel his inspiration in your playing. Thank you for sharing that with all of us.
WoW Lemmo, Great Tribute to KING EDWARD! thanks
I have watched Lemmo since his debut on this channel. This was the most awesome video he has ever done!! Way to go Lemmo, you did Eddie proud!
Rest in Peace Eddie Van Halen. I remember back when I didn't even know English, I heard Hot for a Teacher and Panama somewhere. I was like, yeah don't understand the lyrics but guitar is amazing!!
One of the most interesting interviews was Ed and Alex talking about them not being able to speak English very well as young kids, so they talked to each other in Dutch instead of the American kids. That's why they were so close.
right when i heard about this i came here to see what you had to say because he was such an influential guy in the guitar community and he was the reason millions decided to pick up a guitar and play and that's why this means a lot to me
He's smiling on you Michael. Well done young man!
I am devastated. Eddie was one of my great heroes and influence, I was never the same after hearing him play. We will never forget him and his love for music
Not only did it sound awesome, but it was great to hear it on a guitar not immediately associated with Eddie Van Halen’s style or his image.
Yeah dude, nicely played, nicely said. Thanks Eddie.
I love to listen to you play! You’re an amazing guitar player ! Rest In Peace Eddie!
Perfectly said Mr. Lemmo😷🎸😷🎁🎸 Eddie Van Halen was our guitar hero.
RIP Eddie... Thanks guys for the tribute... ❤️
First time i walked into guitar center on sunset you could feel his influence everyone was doing evh demos for the customers and it was electric. Aww man to be on sunset again..
Tubal-Cain
Nice job brother! The electric ⚡️ guitar 🎸 is like no other. Eddie was a game changer. RIP.
You can tell Lemmo was feeling the loss of EVH in this video, but I think that gave it all the more soul. Obviously, Eddie is one of the greats of guitar in many ways and he will be missed. There's a little more rocking going on in heaven tonight.
Beautiful tribute Mike. That heartfelt 'thanks Eddie' at the end brought tears to my eyes! RIP EVH!
It's like a piece of my childhood died right along with him. Rest easy and fly high Eddie.
In two days it will be one year. So glad I was able to see both iterations of VH. Thank you VH brothers. Both of you changed the music world!
Wholly shit Lemmo that was beautiful..thank you for that great tribute to an absolute music god
Beautiful Michael. God bless Eddie. Rockin with the angels.
RIP Eddie Van Halen forever in our hearts
I'm still in shock..😓...long live Eddie and RIP brother...🎸
You ROCK Michael 🎸 I was sooo fortunate to have seen Van Halen live 3 times in the 80s and 90s!!! RIP Edward
RIP Eddie.
I'll never forget the first time I heard you play. 11 concerts later and being able to meet you changed my musical world. You'll always be my guitar hero. Tell SRV and Prince hello.
Beautiful tribute, Lemmo!
The best performance from Lemmo ever. That intro was killer. Eddie would be proud for sure.
...wow, another tough day for music, EVH RIP, after Jimi, for me the next innovator in electric guitar performance..like all the greats, he made it seem so easy with an incredible exuberance that defies the imagination..respect to Lemmo because he shows how much he loved Eddie without hesitation here, thank you Berklee brother!..New York October 6, 2020..
Thank you Michael. You really did this justice!
Feeling sooo sad for Wolfie losing his roll dawg. 😥
That's how it should be, no mourning but rocking, EVH appreciation guaranteed
A fitting tribute. Thanks Michael. 🎸
Thank you for such a wonderful and heartfelt tribute to our King Edward.
The Missus woke me up crying and for the entire day we couldn’t listen to a note of King Edward without the waterworks comin’ - so many good times with his music -it felt weird
We found watching interviews with him and other kind folks like yourself paying tribute to Eddie makes it somewhat easier to bear. We literally had a day of intensely mourning. It might sound daft but Ed’s playing and attitude is hugely responsible for inspiring me to be the person I am.
There’s a Bad Religion ( Punk Band ) Lyric that says it al “ Everyone you love leaves a mark on your soul,
The world is a little less bright without King Edward
Im fighting cancer and depression and its been especially tough with the news of Eddie’s passing but hearing all these wonderful tributes and reaction and the love and joy he brought and is bringing….makes it a tad bit easier
Much love and respect! Thank you for honouring our King Edward. Eddie's music touched us so deeply because of his love for the instrument and the innovations he has done. To us, it feels like the brightest and best brother, Uncle, friend mentor you ever had is not in our realm anymore. You have Nothing but love from the rock/metal / guitarist community, respect for your tribute to EVH, Rock n Metal does not get the exposure and respect that other genres get.
So, you are forever in the hearts of many a Rock / Metal / Guitar fan's hearts. Stay safe & all the best wishes to you. Watch this Video Interview and you'll see why we're hurting so much...The world is a little less bright without King Edward This is a brilliant interview if you haven’t seen it ruclips.net/video/yb26D8bBZB8/видео.html&ab_channel=Z%C3%B3caloPublicSquare
most people don’t know the King Edward was a bi-racial half Asian / half white Immigrant and that his lifelong friends were the black kids who stood up for them when they came to the US. A definitive American Dream story.
Eddie buried Dimebag Darrell from Pantera with his original Bumblebee Guitar when Dime’s life partner Rita asked him to make a Copy Ed said “an Original deserves an Original”
Vinnie Paul ( Paantera ) Dimebag’s brother says the last words his brother said to him was Van f+*in Halen’ their nightly ritual before hitting the stage.
Frank Zappa loved and respected Eddieand got him to teach Dweezil who was obsessed with ED When Frank died Ed was THE 1st first to call with condolences and to offer any assistance.
He was the 1st to mod his guitars in such an extreme way chasing tone, Creating the Super Strat - Humbuckers in Strat style guitars, Waxing Pickups, Variac on his amp and did his first 2 albums with the original Fender Whammy which led to the creation of the Floyd Rose Whammy Bar. His Rhythm Playing was funky, tasteful and rockin’ and his songwriting is the reason his loss is affecting grandparents, parents, kids and all ethnicities alike as Van Halen songs will live forever.
Enjoy EVH ruclips.net/video/L9r-NxuYszg/видео.html&ab_channel=Hazardteam
I was 18 in 1978. VH was part of the sound track of my coming of age. I was there. I know what Eddie meant to Michael Lemmo. I want much more.
Beautiful and soulful tribute ! 💔🎵🎶
A nice Tribute to THE MAN, R.I.P Eddie.
