I have to go find the rest of these videos now. I came in at part 3 and I'm thoroughly impressed by your 'MacGyvering' skills. All of those wee jigs are pure genius. Great video mate.
Paul, you encouraged me to make my own floats and you have inspired me with a passion for float making i didn't know i could do. So i would like to say a big thank you for that initial spark. Steve
Speaking as an engineer with over 20 years experience in precision engineering, you are a heck of an engineer! I think I've seen all your vid's now and have enjoyed every one.
a bit different how i would have done things but that's exactly why i like your videos paul. A fresh new perspective on how to do things is invigorating and honestly very inspiring.
SolarBaits Thanks Mikko, I think a lot of it comes from not having the money to throw at these projects so i end up trying to find solutions that don't break the bank and use things i already own or are very cheap, in a way the limitations force solutions that probably wouldn't normally arise. But i will be glad to get back making some lures for a while, i looked in my lure box this morning and it is beginning to look like bits or wire attached to bits of chewed wood, with some bent hooks.
Well done and mesmerizing. I enjoy watching the evolution of you video style. When I finally take the time and make the effort to create a video, I have much to use as a guide. You keep raising the bar.
John Pendleton Yep there is so much to learn about filming and so many new things to try, but I am glad with this that I put the fishing first and I got to tell a bit more of the story rather than just the making. Hopefully the story side should be something I develop a bit more in future videos, thanks again for the feedback
Hi Paul, just to say thank you, all be it a bit late, for your quick reply to my query concerning drill chucks, you really do some great videos, I think i've seen all of them now and have learned something from them all.
Very nice clip again , Paul, ...I've really enjoyed watching ! I do my own reed floats a bit different in construction to yours(especially without any jigs ) , though ,.........and through the years I've recognized them to be superior to any shop-bought , fancy colored bobbers ,....especially when fishing those shallow fishing club ponds around here . In first place the reed float's compact antennas are better visible compared to most lighter commercial floats , also their casting performance is often better,....but main advantage is , that , ....being left in their natural color , just clear-coated , ....they do not tend to spook the fish as much . Many a times it happened to me when doing early season carp ,-and tench fishing during late March into April , .....fish would drop the bait after a short nibble , since they must have sensed that colorful and bulbous thing above their heads being moved,.....I'm talking about only 1 1/2 to 2 feet of water depth ! Since I had started to use my homemade reed floats , this problem did not occur anymore , because reeds , ....even slightly moving stems ....., are just nothing strange or unfamiliar to the fish , thus will not spook them ! Greetings , Dieter
61diemai I have to admit Dieter that my float tips are getting larger as I get older if i make to sixty i will be putting fluro golf balls on top of my floats. I think what really started me on these was seeing how many bits of broken plastic floats where stuck on the margins of the lakes i fish and i just thought reeds have to be a better alternative and performance wise its a float so it is not hard to get right. But i like the process with these as much as the end result all-ready i have a few more ideas as to what I can use that dipping machine for. Thanks again
I am our biggest fan I watch all of your vids I love them you have inspired me to do things I wouldn't thing of my self all I have to say is thank you and keep on making vids I will support you all of the way
just got back from a little winkle picker session, caught a couple nice ones and lost the last fish i had. For as far as i could see it was an immaculate tench of about 4 to 5 lbs. So yes, sad like a kid who's ice cream just fell on the floor. Seeing this last clip cheers me up in a way. Besides all the material stuff and your skills the way of filming, including choice of music, is very well done. I'm going back for roach in an hour
Amicalement Geo
you have a very special talent, sir, and it go's beyond this first class series. please say hello to my friend Jord. I look forward to you both. (Jord, did you notice the sun on the water during the introduction? I think it would work with your vid's as well..) cheers
I used to worry about wobbly paint lines on my floats too, until the wife said "Who's going to see them except you and a few fish?!" I had to admit that she had a point!
***** I still fuss trying to get my floats looking perfect, while my mate fishes with floats that look like they've been run over by a car! He always seems to catch more than me though!
Jun Hao NG It is something i made from a stanley drill so get to call it the hand cranked lathe, I am sure someone else somewhere has had the same idea and maybe they have a different name for it. This was the original video where i made it ruclips.net/video/DEDpfTh714U/видео.html
Nicely made fella.... Unfortunately there was some twat playing a piano in the background which was really unnecessary and annoying. But other than that 👍
Brilliant videos..Been fishing since I was 7 yrs..Now 59yrs later I'm going to make my first float..Love you tube!!
An enjoyable series! Float fishing is the best! We all learnt that way and the magic never leaves you.
I have to go find the rest of these videos now. I came in at part 3 and I'm thoroughly impressed by your 'MacGyvering' skills. All of those wee jigs are pure genius. Great video mate.

Paul, Love all of your videos. You've given me lots of ideas and plenty of motivation from lure building to your handcrafted method. Thanks!
