  • We had a 2-night long trip to Ruunaa Rapids, Finland. We wanted to celebrate mid-summer fest and also get our first whitewater experience with the Alpacka Raft Oryx.
    Our packraft are bought from packrafteurope... and we also work there in the customer service.
    Our outdoor gear is bought mostly from Scandinavian Outdoor. You can change the language of the store from the upper right corner.
    Here are affiliated links to some of the gear from the video:

    As always, another excellent video! An absolute perfect way to celebrate Mid Summer. My heart ached a little to see you empty the sparkling wine...The cooking was fantastic!!

    Just found your channel - wonderful. So enjoy seeing your part of the world and especially from packrafts/canoes. I am intrigued by your drysuits: who makes them, and how do you like them? Am finally going to invest in Alpacka raft after almost 20 years of lusting over them. Still trying to figure out model that I want. Older, so not going to be doing any big water - at least not intentionally. Your videos are really helpful. Hope one of your videos comments on the self-bailing versus decked boats as you paddle in cold water, as do I here in Alaska. Thanks.

      Thank you 😊 Our drysuits are made be Ursuit. It is a famous Finnish company.
      I may talk about self bailers in some video. I have been using them sevwral years now and in below freezing temperatures.
      In my opinion they are very well suitable in cold climates, you just need good base layer under the drysuit.
      Deck keeps water out of the boat, drysuit keep you dry and protects from the wind, base layer gives the insulation and keeps you warm.
      Once you go self bailer there is no way back.

    I've been watching many of your videos for packrafting, thinking of getting an Oryx for partner, dog, and I.

      Did you buy this Alpacka, or rent it?

      @@aaizner847 Yes, we didnt't get our Aqua Bound paddle so fast, so this was temporilary solution. We bought it. We still have it and use it.

    Thanks for sharing. Hearing the American phrases yehaw and lets rock and roll had me smiling for sure. Looked like a blast. Would you recommend the packraft versus a rigid kayak or canoe?

    • @caide
      @caide  3 года назад +1

      I think they are for different purpose. This is really good option if you want to carry it to wilderness, keep it in car for easy trips amd so on.

    After using the oryx for a while, does the wide tube get annoying for using a canoe paddle? Have you tried with just 1 person? I can only imagine it would be very difficult to go in a straight line. Any difficulty on your shoulder from having to reach outwards around the pontoon before applying strength? How about with kayak paddle, is that good also or sitting too high up?

    • @caide
      @caide  2 года назад +1

      It is easy to paddle over the ponton. No popblems. It is impossible to paddle alone with canoe paddle, but whit longer (220-240cm) kayak paddle its easy. Also the high seat is nice. I used it one weekend alone in whitewater training and it works good with paddling rear first 😁
