    For a guy who has worn jeans for the last 60 0dd years, I found your take on these trousers to be compelling and I have to seriously consider making an investment in a pair, but only if they do something other than camo style patterns.
    For me, a major part of the video was Mrs. SR's contribution, and apart from her well constructed, thoughtfully conceived and clearly spoken analysis of the subject matter, I found her hands and their movements to be fascinating.
    Strong, capable, subtle and gentle, intimate and including while displaying the boundaries of an understanding that comes with all positive signs of life, and hands that I would trust the minute they touched me or something around me.
    Reminds me of something from the past that brings tears to my eyes. Great to watch.

    Swede here, from the home country of Fjällräven. And i must say that i totally agree with you.
    Fjällräven has seen a decline in quality over the last few years, but even before that, their pants and other outdoor gear, while still being very nice stuff and perfect for the weekend hiker, were not really tough enough to warrant such a high price.
    Being a person interested in military/tactical stuff of all kinds, i started to look towards what kind of gear they were using, and have since a few years back started to buy such gear instead of "traditional" hiking and wilderness gear.
    I have of course done some research and read reviews and stuff before my purchases, because as you state in your video, such gear is not cheap, but if you do your research you will absolutely get your moneys worth and the stuff will last for many many years.
    Thank you for another great video!

    You have been wearing them for a month now? I think they are ready for a wash, eh? LOL! Got to give you a little of a hard time.
    Those look like some excellent trousers for any outdoor activity. The only worry that I would have is cutting the knees against hard objects with the hard pads in. Rocks say, might do damage to the fabric but then better than your knees.
    I appreciate the soft pads though as I do a lot of kneeling in my profession being a welder/machinist/mechanic. They look like real quality equipment that would be welcome on any hunting or camping trip.
    Thanks to Mrs. Survival Russia for her help!
    Cheers!

    Usually the crotch "butterfly" is called a gusset in the USA - instead of a lot of seams that make for a bulky and uncomfortable situation, the gusset is smooth and comfortable to wear. You see them on hiking and tactical pants by other companies in he USA as well, and are a great idea.

    Probably one the most relevant and informative opinion I have seen in a long time. Great Jobs you guys. I came to the same conclusion when I bought my first pair of Striker XT gen 3. Most people look at how many pockets and how the knee pad works with the 3D inserts combined with the puncture resistant layers. Personally I agree with your opinion that these pants are cheap, really cheap for what you get. The quality of the stitching is as good as it gets. Nothing worst than paying premium for a name brand lets say Ca - - - t and find holes and rips in your pants after the 5th wash. I am definitely a fan, and I tend to make my choices very carefully when it comes down to clothes I wear everyday. I have a Striker ULT pair on order as I speak and I bet it won't be the last. You need patience though... their stock fly off the shelf really fast and takes some time to get replenish - so keep your eyes open and act fast when your size becomes available because they go fast.

    I have used Canadian summer military pants since I was a kid in Army cadets. They are well comfy and good against the mosquitoes. One of the features I value the most is the inner leg sleeve that tucks into your socks. It keeps the creepy crawlers out, especially good for ticks. We are seeing alot more ticks up here as the globe warms up. Do those pants have an inner sleeve at all?

    Fjällräven may well be overpriced, and the brand has sadly become the epitome of the tree hugging brigades of today, but they have always been very innovative all the way back from the original "Greenland Trousers" that quickly became the Rolls Royce of outdoor activities more than 35 years ago all the way through to the upgraded version that featured a mix of stretch and non-stretch materials introduced probably 10-15 years ago. Development of these features takes a lot of time, and money. And funnily enough the vented leg pockets have been used by BMW for their "Rallye" series of biking trousers for at least 10 years too. I am sure that UF PRO makes some really great outdoor wear too, and possible much better value for money than Fjällräven is, but I still have several pairs of their "Greenland Trousers" (not the "Greenland Jeans they make today) that have been with me through thick and thin for at least 15 years now, and still hold up very nicely. Yes, the were a little expensive to buy but not much will last for 15+ years nowadays.

    • @SurvivalRussia
      @SurvivalRussia  3 года назад +2

      I'm from Denmark, so I of course know how Fjällräven have "developed" over the years. They used to make good gear and most likely still do, but a bit overpriced for what it is these days.

    • @_J.F_
      @_J.F_ 3 года назад +2

      @@SurvivalRussia I am from Denmark too and lest just agree, I hope, that not all development is positive and that Fjällräven is no longer what it used to be, sadly. The 'value' seems to focussed on political/fashion statement rather than quality at reasonable prices and design and features to match modern day requirements. Just my opinion of course 😄

      @Matthew Ackerman Sasta is great, but also darn expensive. You sometimes find some on sale and being from Finland myself I actually find it on sale frequently near by. Got two jackets and a pair of trousers from them, used and abused the other jacket for about 7 years now and no problems. The trousers and the other jacket have been in random use for about 3 years, no problems with them either.
      They make some awesome wool outer layers these days again but haven't seen them on sale yet. Would be interested to try it out though.

    I use Lundhags pants in my daily life, for a few years now. They are great for that. They use the same Schoeller Dynamic Fabric in the same places.
    It is pretty durable but it does show some wear after 2 or 3 years. Actually the spandex part is disintegrating.
    The butterfly makes the fly shorter, so you see part of my bum when I go for a piss, but moving around and riding my bicycle is so much more comfortable.
    Fjallraven pants are more durable and dry faster than jeans.
    The UF PRO look very nice, but when I wear my shorts and throw them in my backpack I guess it adds more than a kilo and I am not so strong, so I prefer something that also packs light when I leave home

    I own the p40 pants and the striker ht.
    My only complaint so fair would be the material choice, that is 67% plastic and only 33% cotton.
    50/50 polycotton would have been preferred by me for the solid color options since a high plastic content always give me the idea of cheaper material.
    And it feels a bit plastic-ish hence.
    Cut and comfort however are nice, the pockets in the p40 trouser are just a tad bit short for my liking compared to my regualr civi trousers.

    You are correct in that all military gear is not necessarily good outdoor work or camping gear. I'm old, so most of my military gear was cotton.
    The product reviews are fine by me. One of the things I liked about being stationed in Germany for so long was seeing how our NATO partners did things.
    So the multi-cam trousers are available in the US, for $301 without the knee pads (tactical knee pads are USD $38 extra), so Rub 26000 to us. Of course a lot of that is import tariffs. When the pink ninja decides she wants a pair of American Levis, those will probably cost you Rub 16000. I hate tariffs - I finally got enough together for a UP2, and price has gone up.
    Mrs. SR sounds like a woman I met over here in the US. Also Siberian, and also a tailor by trade. She repaired an overcoat for me and you could not see where she stitched it. She was a very tall lady - she said one must be tall in Siberia to get through the snow in the winter.

    The phenomenon of pinching at the waist is a very real issue. I have gotten sores etc from just carrying a pistol and, extra mag.
    Pants that address this are brilliant.

    To my surprise I found a supplier in New Zealand about 350 NZ $ for the HT,s. Apparently the NZ police AOG and special tactical group wear them.
    How do they dry when they get wet and are they noisy against foliage.

      These specific pants dry quite fast and are silent. They are also "no melt, no drip," should they get in contact with fire. All of their pant are. Many elite units and individuals from such units use UF PRO gear. There are thought put into every little detail in their products and that how it is and why I love this brand. Made by real users.

    Hey what's up brother, love your RUclips channel I watch it all the time for the best practical real life scenarios. I watched the review of your friends the Taylor over the pants thought she did a great job very well done 🙌. If I may, add a suggestion, would it be possible to make those jeans the same way but for everyday wear that didn't look so tactical? Almost like gray jeans but for a gray man type scenario you live in the city you don't want people to think that your tactical that you're invested in survival and stand out. Probably a million dollar idea you're welcome LOL, I'm a huge fan and if you were to reply to me it would be awesome thank you brother and stay safe. 💪

    Using the word denier without a preceding number as you do at 6:35, is a non sequitur like saying the pants are made of gram fabric. Denier is a unit of measure of thread weight in a fabric, often used as a proxy for thread thickness. In the case of UF Pro pants, it's 500 denier nylon (polyamide) Cordura, a weight commonly used on small backpacks.

    Hello! How would you compare the ULT vs the XT gen 2?

    • @SurvivalRussia
      @SurvivalRussia  9 месяцев назад

      XT gen2 for toughness. ULT for very hot weather. They are light, but good.

    You say they’re not made for dirt biking, but I would bet my last ruble that they’re leagues better than maaaaany of the trousers out there made specifically for riding.

    Lars I think you'd love pants made from merino dryskin. The material is made by the same Swiss company that makes the strech part of those pants in the video, Schoeller. It's super durable and weather resistant with a merino wool inner face that is superbly comfy. I only know one brand that use this material currently and they are Enfin Leve who make everything to order so you can specify your own measurements etc.

    I checked the site for the pants and they are really expensive alone and with the knee pads they will cost more than one leather jacket which I purchased years ago. They seem to be well designed and built and have all of the features I like, but the price is not in my price range.
