I believe the song describes a man that is in love with a woman who may not even know he exists and he fantasizes about her, so much so that he dreams about her only to wake and find himself alone, caressing his pillow.
The song is actually about the love he has for the woman that left him. That type of love and loneliness that you feel after you were wrong and she left you to the point that you go almost crazy. 😊

José José es un pilar de la música 🎼 en el continente americano, imagínate! Es una voz espectacular! Aguantaba los tonos más difíciles que existen en un cantante de opera. No parecía ser humano! Hilaba las palabras en un Vaivén frenético sin casi separarlas . Nadie puede con el tema de "el triste" sin respirar sin tomar aire , es imposible hacerlo a su manera. Se los recomiendo ampliamente. Les dejo una recomendación el tema se llama " En la puerta del colegio " ahí podrás escuchar el Vaivén del cual te hablo o te escribo. Saludos desde México , antes la ciudad de los palacios .

The guy handed a note and it was this song. I don't know if this was true or not, but I really hope it was, because it's an amazing story!
