GEN X, 1965 here! Thank you Joe Porcaro for gifting the world 🌎 with JEFF, MIKE & STEVE! Toto has the GREATEST MUSICIANS in music!Forever grateful my music chops and eyes/ears were privy to the PORCARO BROTHERS! RIP Joe, Jeff and Mike...we'll see you on the other side.
Jeff playing with Boz Scaggs, never mind how old Jeff was, will forever be some of the greatest tracks ever laid down by any drummer. That he was in his 20's is remarkable.
Thank you guys for helping document and keep up the legacy of Jeff. I never got to meet him I was born after his passing yet he is the main drummer that has grabbed my ears in recent years. everyone flocks to Bonham or Moon a ton in my little area but as amazing as they are I'm more in awe of Jeff for his attitude and approach to the drums. Every time I sit behind the kit on a tune I think What Would Jeff Do and instantly things feel better
Lee,, thanks for all you do. I'm a drummer and I play bass too. Been gigging drums for 40 years. You make me want to play bass better. And you do! Thanks. God bless you man. I'd love to play with you. Like that would ever happen. Lol.
There are only a few drummers in the past few decades who will be remembered for decades to come: Bernard Purdie Earl Palmer Hal Blaine Jim Gordon Russ Kunkell Harvey Mason Jeff Porcaro Steve Gadd Ndugu Chancellor Steve Ferrone JR Robinson I had the great pleasure of doing an album with John Robinson. It was one of the best weeks of my career. Thanks JR and thanks Lee for this interview.
Just amazing...Leland going by some legends....like it's nothing... Lee you should start a late night show!! So maybe...just maybe...you are the long lost brother of David Letterman (or the other way around...I don't know)
what's really cool about this one is the love of Jeff that never goes away..I was curious to know when you recorded this so I googled entertainment magazine Superman on the cover saw the picture and saw it was 2013... that's what makes Jeff's legacy so amazing..show this is 20 + years after passing a Jeff and the love talked about him to this day.. this was a great one with John I enjoyed this a lot..always love John's playing with Quincy Jones stuff like on off the wall from Michael Jackson another great pocket drummer John is but never gets his due amongst all the great talk of drummers if you know what I mean...
Hi Lee Would love to hear a interview with Simon Phillips, in regard to stepping into them big shoes, as a replacement drummer for this amazing guy and band. Thanks for this informative stuff...
I did read an interview Simon where he spoke to this. He said that Jeff's playing was way beyond Jeff's chronological age, very mature as a player. As well, he said everything that Jeff played was absolute perfection. What was absolutely called for, nothing more & nothing less.
My image of J R will always be his accompaniment for USA for Africa during the “We Are the World” sessions in 1985 (having grown up with the documentary). This interview is (if you’ll excuse me) killer. His reverence for Jeff Porcaro is as evident as Jeff’s beats.
Jeff and John. Wow. They've played on some of the best music you'll hear.

He is the reason why I started playing drums. Mr. Groove.
Always wondered who played drums on silk degrees, the sizzle on his hi hat blew away, when I found out it was Jeff, it all made sense! 🔥
Thank you JR. - loved your playing and thank you for your compassion towards Jeff P.

JR is a genius, Jeff was a genius and can’t forget Bernard Purdie
Excellent. I've been playing since 1964, and Jeff is hugely important in drumming history. I miss him too...
Jeff influenced so many of todays drummers.... The GOAT
You’re a good man for posting these tributes!
I met JR in Manhattan at an Expo and we talked...he himself is a character. This is freakin awesome of you Mr. Sklar, just incredible.

Great. That is the kind of music stories I love to hear the most.
J.R. and Jeff both played on Jude Cole's Start The Car album, GREAT songs!
Real recognize real. Two of the all time greats.
I never knew Jeff but I loved his drumming
I came here for Leland Sklar but I’m not disappointed 😉

Awesome stuff lee on posting this stuff up for the many of us fans to see
Playing grooves and being a kind humboe person is how you make it in the music world .
Jeff Porcaro -- literally a teenager when he did Diamond Girl.
Jeff Porcaro et Phil Collins ont un son très particulier et reconnaissable
pour moi ce sont les meilleurs batteurs au monde !!
He must have been one heck of a humble guy.
I wish I had appreciated him as a teenager, like I do now.
Hi John, Brenda!
Gotta love JR talking about the crap you hear on the radio these days. Good to know that even seasoned musicians feel this way!
Bass players are just great to start with... That's funny.
Lovely 💚
thanks you guys...these thoughts and stories are bitchin`...
Rock with us!
NICE!!
Jeff the groove master
immortality
Birds of a feather …

♥️
My man, that thumbnail looks a little too Louis CK if you know what I mean
The old leg over the arm, sexy.
:-)
Leland Sklar what's your cell # I thought I'd give you a shout while your shooting a VIDDY. I am tired of living
Or at least - “tired of living“ like there’s nothing beyond the four walls?
hope i'm missing something inside here, no pun intended, but man, you can call me if you want, just an old drummer here man
Jeff was a very soulful drummer....soul and feel all the way.
