When Jared said Dylan wouldn't be talking as fast, I thought: "Now you've challenged him." Needless to say, Dylan's response had me laughing out loud. Thank you for that.
While I have seen John Moschitta, Jr. in those Micro Machine commercials, as well as his pivotal dramatic performance as an electronics shop owner in Short Circuit 2, I'm most nostalgic for his role as Blur from The Transformers: The Movie, a robot who talks fast and that's his entire personality. They didn't even write dialogue suitable for his superspeed speech much of the time, and in one scene, an odd choice in I assume voice direction has him just make mouth noise in lieu of words, "What about me, Magnus, what about me, mm ha mm ha mm ha? I can help out but what about me?"
Fun fact about the Moon theme's usage in DT2017: In an early episode, Lin Manuel-Miranda, who voices Gizmoduck, was planning to whistle the moon theme as a little easter egg; however, showwriter Frank Angones had to put a halt to that, regrettably admitting that he already had plans to feature the song more prominently later in the series (as Della Duck's lullaby).
Imagine if Duck Tales 2 was on the SNES. It would probably have been a classic today. A shame that when they made the remake, they didn't add it into it.
I played so much Lost Vikings with my dad growing up. Upon reflection there's no way I was much help solving them but it was still so much fun to play along with him. Thank you for bringing up those memories and giving me a day to cherish them. This channel is amazing, thank you all so much!
The Lost Vikings is fantastic. I used to play with my best friends at the time by just passing the controller back and forth among the three of us to control any one viking at a time. Great for team building it seems.
I really wish when they did DuckTales Remastered back in 2013 that they would have continued the "Disney Afternoon" remakes so we could have gotten DuckTales 2 Remastered while most of the voice actors were still alive. Though I suppose they could use the 2017 reboot cartoon cast VAs if they did ever continue the remakes...
I've always thought a DLC type situation with the 2017 cast would be fun. I even thought maybe it could allow sprite and voice swaps for the original game.
@@ZipplyZane difficult to say. I want to say noticeably more than in DuckTales 1 you could always find a letsplay or longplay of it, or you could also play it yourself any way you can
The Lost Vikings was basically my 'party/ice-breaker' game in my childhood. If I had new people over in my house, or I was going to a place that had a genesis, I'd bring my copy of it and my six-button controllers if needed. The concept of the game was simple, the puzzles were challenging enough for new people, the '''cutscenes''' were amusing at the time. But most of all; it promoted teamwork and helped build up friendships. A wonderful game for its time
Well, Square (later intelligent Systems) made Super Mario Brothers a RPG game franchise (primarily the Paper Mario games), so it could be done. You'd just have to make a story suitable for the characters. I find the series fairly linear though.
I loved lost vikings growing up and was so hyped to see them get added to HotS. Damn shame that blizzard basically smothered that game with a pillow after its attempt to force an HotS equivalent to overwatch league failed.
Interesting fact about The Lost Vikings: at least on Sega you can play it in three player coop. Problem is that you still need to be all characters at one screen or wait until your turn.
Still disappointed capcom never ported the disney afternoon collection to switch. Thats literally easy money....i rented ducktale 2 a few times as a kid. Had i known it was a rarity growing up i wouldve bought it
Fun Fact: John "Motormouth" Moschitta Jr, the fast talking Micro Machines guy is also the voice of 'Blurr', the super speedy blue Autobot from the 1986 Transformers Movie and subsequent seasons of the original animated series. His dialogue is not artificially sped up, he really 'does' speak that fast. In fact he is still accredited by the Guinness Book of World Records as "the worlds fastest talker" (586 words per minute, according to Wikipedia).
Somewhere in my dad's basement I think is a full copy of Ducktails 2. My grandparents had an NES to keep me occupied and that was one of the few games they had.
Thank you Dylan for pointing out the weird focus. I thought my glasses were broken. Jared, many many many thanks for this series. It lets me revisit my youth vicariously. I need that most of the time.
I was unaware that Disney Collection was still available. I've been wanting to play Duck Tales 2 for some time; guess I know what I'll be picking up soon!
Micro Machines was another oft-rented game in my youth. The other racers had two frame animations that would play when selected and when they either won a race or came in last. As a kid, I would sometimes emulate the animation they came in last, just to rub in their 16-bit faces.
Webby doesn't get kidnapped until after you've cleared all the stages, when Flinthard Glomgold ransoms her for all the treasures you've collected. The premise of the game is to get all the treasures and, if you're good enough, uncover the hidden treasure.
Dylan really went, hold my beer, and talked as fast as he could xD and yes, in this scenario, Jared is our cool big brother introducing us to new/old games and making sure we finish them, and Dylan is the tired dad, chugging beers on the couch, encouraging the kids and... how much was that game again? oh heck no XD
Yo, The Lost Vikings was a game I just never could find on shelves, but wanted it so bad! I could never find it for rent and it wasn't a good month for new game purchasing as a kid - my birthday was last month.
Rare made a ton of NES stuff including licensed LJN games like Roger Rabbit and Nightmare on Elm Street. They’ve never been immune to stinkers but it makes the good games they made back then really stand out.
No worries, Camera-kun. I also tend to focus on the game collection in the back (and that sweet Breath of Fire logo used on the SNES box). Also: that segment for Panel Bingo was too hype.
DuckTales 2 and Chip n' Dales Rescue Rangers were two games my mum bought for my older siblings (when she got the NES Action Set bundle for their birthday), but it wasn't until the age of 4/5 I was able to play those games with them. I still have fond memories of playing Rescue Rangers co-op, though I do remember DuckTales 2 being a fairly challenging game for me to beat. And thank you for mentioning the Disney Afternoon Collection, as it's a great bundle that includes some excellent licensed platforming games from Capcom.
6:36 Holy cow, I forgot about the pocket playsets! Those were so cool! I wanted to collect all of them and make a whole tiny city! I don't think I ever got more than five of them though...
i so love that i have both ducktails on nes and gameboy still, sadly there both loose but still those games are so awesome to this day to play on that gray brick
Apparently, they never credited the NES composer for using the moon theme in the series. I guess their reasoning was they used the version from the remake.
I have fond memories of The Lost Vikings. My brother and I played through it together, and its slower pace and emphasis on creative thinking made it a perfect team-up game.
It should be mentioned that The Lost Vikings 2 got a port to Sony Playstation and Sega Saturn, as well, but under the title "Norse By Norsewest: Return Of The Lost Vikings". These CD-based versions added FMV sequences, 3D-ish graphics (think super charged Donkey Kong Country), and CD sound including voice acting from some rather famous voice actors.
I loved micro machines on the genesis. There just were not a lot of multi player competitive racing games, and it had a lot of variety with the helicopters, boats, and Tanks! I found the environment details, and the parallax of the floor visually impressive enough though its a port of an nes game. Lost Vikings is also really good, great characters, clever logic puzzle game disguised as a platformer. It certainly made its share of imitators. Animaniacs on genesis comes to mind.
Hell yeah, Kirby is next week! Another excellent episode, as always, guys. Question for the crew: are there any games coming up that you're extremely extremely excited to cover?
I can't fathom why people talk down the idea of a game being "more of the same." Ducktales was an AWESOME game, so what exactly is wrong with just giving us a whole second game? I could spend an hour just listing games I wish got sequels that just gave us more of what we already love!
The Lost Vikings was one of my favorite games on the SNES. I loved the gameplay and its sense of humor, especially the bickering banter at the end of the levels. It'd be pretty awesome to watch a playthrough of it sometime! (Hint, hint!)
It's neat to see The Lost Vikings pop up in this episode since there's actually been a copy in my local game store for a while now. I keep taking a look at it every once in a while when I go to peruse the place.
I bought Duck Tales 2 at a local retro store for $20 back in 2005. I ended up donating it to the AVGN after I was done with it. A couple of years later it became rare. Whoops.

I'm not sure if I played Duck Tales 2 at his house, borrowed it, or both though. Also I think Scooby Doo could make a good strategy or tower defense game.
Honestly, quite a good selection of games today. Ducktales 2 may not have quite the oomph of the first one, but it is well made made and a fun time. Lost vikings is rightfully considered a pretty unique classic, 3-Count Bout is a surprisingly decent time and, and this is going to sound weird, Panel Action Bingo is not the worst way to spend a vacation in the back of a car. Street Combat is not much of a loss, the underlying Chounai Gekito Hen is also kinda shit - something which sadly holds true for the majority of games from the Ranma franchise.
I had no idea the Lost Vikings was developed with the SNES in mind. When I was a kid, I used to play it with my dad on DOS, so I always thought it was a DOS game originally.

Kudos for making that bingo game sound cool as heck. That's some serious 90's energy.
Editor Dylan always bringing in gold for his segment, this time with FAST TALKING ACTION! 😁
Now lets see him do it with his 90s announcer voice.
When Jared said Dylan wouldn't be talking as fast, I thought: "Now you've challenged him." Needless to say, Dylan's response had me laughing out loud. Thank you for that.
Editor Dylan's "90's voice" legit gave me nostalgia and that whole bit had me laughing pretty good! You guys are awesome
You can tell how much of an impact the 90's had on us when an accent can sound 90's.
