I’ve heard Elvis’ version (which is very similar but not as energetic) and several others, and agree with Mark on this one. The melody is a partially borrowed one of Harry Warren (from a song he wrote in 1940), so that detracts ever so slightly, but not from this stellar performance of this later song.
@@harrywarrenfan I agree. This arrangement (which is the same as the Drifters' original) is better than the Presley arrangement. What is the name of the Harry Warren song you refer to?
@@genemars5158 the chorus of “Fifth Avenue,” which was sung by Shirley Temple, Jack Oakie, and Charlotte Greenwood in the 1940 film “Young People.” The melody was first written in 1936 and used as a background instrumental cue in several Warner Brothers films. It was first titled “Original” and later known as “Come Up Smiling.” I will add that the melody for this Warren work and the song Elio is performing here are not identical, but there is enough similarity to Harry’s melody in the beginning that he (or his heirs) could have claimed copyright infringement on the melody.
This guy's GREAT! I adore Jacky Ward, but this man does an incredible job! It's 2021, and yet I never heard it till two days ago! It's cool, I'm old now and can get it!😉
Well, you could google him under the Drifters. He was their lead singer on this hit, and Pace is singing the song in Moore’s style. He died the end of 1998.
At least he's not one of the Brits who rendered the song without making it musical enough to get any notice at all in the USA. The Jacky Ward version is just embarrassing. You're right, this Elio Pace is a substantial talent everybody should know about! 🤩
@@donnyyork2149 Yes, he being Moore. On YT go to Radio Wollaton and bring up The Drifters “Fools Fall In Love.” That’s the wonderful Johnny Moore in stereo!

A fantastic cover
Awesome to me 12 years later, never heard of Elio Pace, but glad I found him!
Indeed! (I'm "in the biz" and still haven't known of him, I'm embarrassed to confess.) What a splendid professional performer. 🤩😍😯🧐
I love this rendition of this song. Such a great voice and high energy. Fabulous!
Elio and his 3 lovely back up singers and fantastic band nailed it.
I'll always love The Drifters version but I really like this one!! He's great!!!
What about Elvis' ????? ;)
One of the few Remakes that's as good as the original. Back up gals are terrific😅
I think i've played this number 20 times in the last 24 hours.......lol
The Drifters version is incredible but this is mind-blowing . Thanks for the post.
I think Fools Fall in Love is the Drifters' best song ever, and this is a really nice cover of it.
@@genemars5158 I couldn’t agree more. Pace stays true to the original arrangement because it can’t be improved. Johnny Moore would approve, I believe.
Wogan said it:The best houseband in the world!!!' Im so impressed! What a guy and a fantastic band!
Great song great version. Elio Pace and company really swing!
Damn nice job on this Drifters classic!
Great 💚real swing. Thanks.

I'd never heard of him OR Jacky Ward, but the latter's version isn't musical at all compared to this.
@@donnyyork2149 Jacky Ward's version isn't as upbeat but more romantic imo 💕
What a tribute to Johnny Moore! Love it!!
