Especially in this channel. Imagine one of the women talked like Ramses. They (esp Deepti) would be like, "I understand that due to her background, she has strong feelings against the military, and it's great that she is voicing this out. Maybe her delivery could be a bit better. But I can see the pain and trauma she and her family must have gone through as a result of our military."
And if Marissa was the man, they would have said, "I hate how he was flip flopping on his own views about the military. You're a grown man who's served in it and chose to come out of it. Have a backbone and say what you really feel. Like make up your f'ing mind!"
I like this podcast. But I can't ignore the frustration I feel from all the double standards.

If a woman didn’t know how to cook pasta she would be villanized. Nick is a loser, clearly his parents didn’t put effort into raising him so sadly now Hannah has to and that doesn’t look pretty all the time.

    • @victoriaemerson-ds8du

@@KittyKat-zo1ue There are plenty of “modern” women who don’t cook, and they are praised for being progressive and not boxing themselves in to a traditional stereotype.
If a man on this show scolded a woman for not knowing how to cook and told her to sit down, he would get instant hate, and be labeled abusive, misogynist, and evil.
Not knowing how to make pasta doesn’t make anyone a loser. How ridiculous…

    • @KittyKat-zo1ue
      @KittyKat-zo1ue 3 дня назад +1

@@victoriaemerson-ds8du Bffr, they are not praised. You’re either delusional or being willfully obtuse.
A man would only be scolded for saying that on this show because majority of the viewers are women. Men say that all the time on twitter and TikTok and they still have a huge following of other men.
And what makes Nick a loser is that he doesn’t know how to do anything because his parents babied him and he does not seem eager to learn. He’s going to think she’s nagging him, when she’s literally just raising him because his parents refused to.

    • @aldorado123
      @aldorado123 3 дня назад +2

@@KittyKat-zo1ue I think a woman might be seen in a poor light if she acted like she didn't care about helping to cook while her spouse is asking her to help; however, Nick showed (at least to Hannah) some interest to cook with her and didn't shut her down immediately; he possibly also felt embarassed for his lack of knowledge -- and this is what I think warms people to him as a person in that scene and makes people feel sorry for him.

It was one of the most special experiences of my life. I put on like 6 kilos from all the delicious food she was constantly making me. I don’t judge him for still being at home with his Mum at the time because both culture and circumstances was the reason for that and if anything, I got to see his love and respect for her, which I’ve not often seen when dating British guys.

I think people are more concerned that Nick has done no steps to being an adult. You can live with your parents house and still be a full responsible adult. Instead he has never bought groceries or cooked in his life. He only pays his car bills. He was very uncomfortable when it came to talking about finances. Was he expecting his wife to move into the basement and be on his parents phone plan.

Whatever Ramses ends up being, that doesn’t excuse Marissa’s mom’s behaviour. She said nothing intuitive and all of it was projection from her own issues in life.
I hate when our 20/20 view of people means we give credit to people who were out of line after the fact. Like their behaviour is ok because others let us down later on. No definitely not.

I wholeheartedly agree with you and was actually quite disappointed with Natalie's + Deepti's perspectives on this. They even failed to mention Marissa's mom calling her own daughter a b****, and threatening to cut off Ramses' genitals. Her mom was so crude and none of her "tough takes" were really for anyone's benefit, regardless of how good or bad Ramses is. In fact, up to that point, Ramses hadn't said/done anything offensive, so justifying Marissa's mom's behavior because of how one feels about him after all is said and done doesn't absolve her of her terrible persona.

I'd be mad, mean and require a lot from others too if my parents taught me to be hyper-independent by leaving me to figure out life on my own and then be really soft and gentle with a stranger. Hannah is how she is because of them, no one can convince me otherwise. She's been taught that hard work and having it together is praise worthy behaviour and what makes you valuable. Ramses was 1000% wrong on the bc conversation but I do feel like everyone is having a very US centric response to his view of the military. If you were born in a country that was heavily destabilized by the US military it’s very hard to feel compassionate for people who voluntarily sign up for that. I totally agree that she was 18 and to me that’s still a kid making a decision that their brains can’t possibly fully comprehend the consequences of. I don’t think it’s fair to completely negate the fact that there are generations of peoples lives have been ruined by imperialism specifically from the US. Ramses is literally from Venezuela and the US was very involved in the destabilization of the country.

I understand Natalie's pessimism regarding the Golden Couple and concern over Garrett's "only have dated white women in the past line", but given that he spent the last 7 years working 70 hours a week or taking vacations spear fishing, I got the sense that he's hasn't dated many women and was more telling her as a fact that he's only dated white women rather than that he prefers to date white women. They are also both thinkers so him being concerned she was keeping more things from him until she explained why she didn't want to reveal her Mom's name seemed reasonable. Since he didn't push about it and even suggested that she shouldn't say when she became insecure and considered just saying it is part of the reason I am giving him more of a benefit of the doubt.

Learning Marissa is ex mormon explained everything for me. I'm also exmo and I swore up and down while I was in the church that I wanted to be a stay at home mom and to have a lot of kids. I did the stay at home mom thing and was miserable. I finally allowed myself to explore what I really wanted when I left the church and now have a career I love and don't want more than the two kids I have.
The church can convince you that what you want is what they tell you is the right thing to want. Marissa's mom seems like she doesn't know all the growth Marissa has been experiencing. Also as a non-American, Ramses seemed totally in line to me in the military conversation - he is open minded and willing to listen, but he isn’t going to be a supporter of the methods of the US military given his background. for someone to keep saying “I support our troops” after admitting that they are aware the military unnecessarily destroys societies and wrongfully uses violence and other tools of oppression to dominate - and then they say they don’t regret it - that would be very challenging. She needs to understand and accept that he comes from a culture that has suffered because of the system she chose to be a part of, enact, and perpetuate. It seems they should have gotten more into the weeds on this topic in the pods, and is a difference enough that it's likely they shouldn't be together.

@@saraa475 I think the issue w Palestine & Gaza has its own set of facts that don't directly relate to his life and/or her military career, although obviously all US military is blanketed under the same blame/credit (depending on your view or how much you believe the US & our media propaganda), regardless of what country we are involved with - whether they be adversaries or allies.
The idea that if you are worried about the 43,000+ people who have died as a result of the Israeli force's 10/7 response, does not mean that you are an anti-Semite.
At least I don't believe so.
Personally, what I find frustrating is that many people are protesting what the Israelis are doing but they don't really know what they're talking about.
I'm not saying that's everyone - I personally think it's horrific how many people have died over there, but going from protesting Israel's response to 10/7/23 to actually being 'pro Hamas' is a huge & incredibly insane jump that I think very very few protesters would actually support - IF they tried to look at it objectively.
I think there are people who believe that if you are protesting the Israeli response, then you are pro Hamas (and I truly do NOT believe most people are), or they just sit & say "stop ALL bombings" (ie; 10/7 response), but they'd personally NEVER be able to handle living under Sharia law, which is what they are protecting w their pro Hamas nonsense.
With all this, at the same time there are people out there who know nothing about what is going on & they're camping out, raging about what Israel is doing, etc, when Israel DOES have every right to defend itself - even though I personally believe they have gone too far.
So...... (sorry, a true rant but w good intentions 💙✌️), a very long response on this thread but it's just that it is definitely not a black-and-white type of situation & I believe many people view it as though it is.
You CAN be pro Israel & also be against what they are doing in Gaza, while at the same time you can be against the aggression in Gaza without being anti-Semitic.
That brings us to Netanyahu's biggest criticism, when it comes to this particular ranter 🙋🏻‍♀️
Being pro 2-state solution in the eyes of the Israelis is being anti-Israel 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄 & w the exception of Hamas & other horrible, terrifying terrorist groups, there are normal humans that just want to live in their own territory. Hamas, Hasbulla & other terrorist organizations are using the fact that Palestinians want sovereignty as a way of forcing the Israeli forces to do things that really do qualify as what many people consider very close to genocide.
There doesn't seem to be an easy answer but unless Netanyahu agrees to a 2- states solution, they are never going to end this war.
On THAT stipulation (were they agreed to a 2-state solution), I believe the war would be much closer to ending, but PM Netanyahu is not playing fair either.
He's afraid of being ousted (my opinion, I don't pretend to have all the answers) for allowing 10/7 to happen in the first place. The fact that Israel was protesting against his corruption when this all happened is no coincidence when it comes to the length of time it is taking to end this war his insistence on a single state solution/not giving Palestine sovereignty.
His continuation of this war is much like what is happening in the US, one person trying to keep from being ousted from power, the other trying to regain power to keep from going to jail.
Pretty typical right wing propaganda/lies & corruption.
Being against what Israel is doing to the Palestinians & others in the Gaza strip does not make you an antisemite, it makes you a person w a heart (IMHO).
      Ok..... sorry for the rant.

I dont agree with you guys judging Steven's entire character based on Sabrina's side. Our perceptions can be swayed according to the person who we have communicated/acquainted with the most. And you guys would obviously have Sabrina's point of view because you interviewed her. But it's important to note that we still don't know the full story. Let's not forget that Sabrina said she wants to move to London when Steven first asked her if she's willing to move there. She only changed her mind as the series progressed. Even then she did not appear to fully communicate that need to Steven. Hence I feel it's unfair to blame one party based on one sided claims.

They agreed as a couple to split time between both their spaces, she visited, he only went to her twice. You see the pods, you don't see every conversation they had, why is it so easy to discredit her?

It's Canadian Thanksgiving weekend so I appreciate the early drop! 💕 Ramses feels like the biggest villain in that the way he behaves is something every woman has encountered at some point but he veils it under the pretense of being so in touch with his feelings! It irks me that this man claims to be so aware of different perspectives on major issues like the military and yet completely dismisses Marissa's very valid and unique point of view based on living it! That said, I love that Natalie brought up how Marissa seems to state a lot of contradicting views on the same topic depending on her audience, which makes me wonder if she has not reconciled her feelings about the military and is still figuring it out. If that's the case, it makes sense why Ramses can easily be so manipulative. Love both your insights on each couple, especially Hannah and Nick because I feel that people haven't been talking about them as much due to all the drama surrounding some of the other couples, yet they are fascinating to watch.

I really feel for Marissa on dealing with her inner turmoil around her military service, who she is, and what she wants. My husband is a marine and has some very similar struggles. One of my hobbies is learning about cults and it blew my mind when I learned just how cult-like the military is. That realization has helped me be so much more patient and understanding with him. That’s where my mind went during Marissa’s scenes. Shes really struggling and Ramses is making it so much harder in her instead of providing her a safe place to work through it.

I’m not saying he felt cheating was his only way out, but it was an ends to a means, so doing what he did worked. It’s too bad Monica had to be hurt even further by what happened. Either way, I don’t think they were going to work out though. I can understand her anger and disappointment. I think with Taylor & Garrett, I think they were addressing his family's anxiety about it and essentially they were saying they were going to take responsibility for how this pans out between the two of them (they weren't going into this lightly) but ultimately it comes down to their decision. I think they were making it known they love and understand his family but they also have to have the detachment to make the decision as a couple creating their own family. I also believe it came down to the disagreeing with the process and not the couple. Neither family wanted them to follow through with the process.

It’s that whole liberal persona where your morals are so high until it comes to issues of gender of course. Men of all political affiliations love oppressing women, even if they can objectively see how/why oppression is wrong (as he clearly can). It is extra weird.

I 100% agree with Natalie about this season!! I was nodding frantically about everything, when you were talking about Nick and Hannah!!! Neither of them have the intention to get married, I genuinely think she enjoys belittling Nick because it makes her feel better about herself, Nick's taking it because he wants to stay on the show he does not like her, sorry it's really obvious to me. I literally can't remember anyone's names. Since episode 1, I saw absolutely no chemistry between anyone, I commented on some other channels about how I just don't see it I was even surprised when people were saying Ashley and Tyler (had to think about their names when typing that) were the 'perfect couple'. I just didn't see why any of them connected, there was no defining moments. Then these round of episodes dropped and everything I felt came to pass my intuition is never wrong!
Even when people were hyping up Ramses and Marrisa, I said no, the only thing in common is how they look, they are fundamentally different and them BAM these episodes dropped. I actually don't feel as strongly about Ramses as you do Natalie. I actually agree with his stance on the milatary, he should have never entertained Marrisa EVER. As soon as she said it in the pods, he should have said no sorry I can't. They BOTH keep saying we're so similar we align and they literally don't... they're caught up in the show, they're not in reality. He lost me at the birth control thing, he came across so irresponsible. 100% with you Natalie, this season is a miss and no offense is making the American franchise seem like a joke given what's gone down with Stephen and Tyler :(

I'm sorry your Ramses and Marissa take seem odd and disconnected from the couple's conversations. Ramses never said he wouldn't wear a condom and only suggested that their sexual relationship would change. He acknowledged Marissa's concerns about taking birth control pills and didn't make any demands. Are there no other forms of birth control, such as IUDs, etc.? Saying that Ramses deserves Marissa's mother's toxic interaction because of that is weird and off-base.
Also, in the pods, Marissa initially made it sound like their politics were aligned and her military service was behind her. However, she later mentioned the possibility of joining the Reserves. Ramses has the right to be concerned and question her. If you believe that the US Military exports death and destruction around the world, why would you marry someone who is aligned with that immorality? Marissa's change in stance regarding her military service and Ramses' concerns about her ethics are valid points to consider.

From my perspective it was always clear that Marissa valued her time in the military, and I only saw that switch up when she paired up with Ramses. It’s off-putting seeing someone who served for 8 years, grew up in the environment, and seemingly appreciated the experience, switch up based on being with a partner who has opposite feelings and views on her service… it feels like she’s altering herself for his approval. Definitely do not like it and I do not think they are aligned.

We've always had amazing communication, and I think thats what Nick and Hannah lack. They don't talk to eachother nicely (more Hannah than Nick), they don't accurately communicate their feelings, they don't communicate when things are bothering them. Communication skills are the things they lack, not anything about age. Age can play a factor, but its not everything. The first thing my husband and I talked about, even when we were just friends, we told eachother exactly what we didn't want going forward in life, and I'm not sure what happens in the pods, but from what they show, there isn't enough of talking about what you don't want in a relationship 🤷🏽‍♀️

Accept my sympathy regarding your grandmother's passing.
We usually say in my culture (Cameroon) that elderly people do not die, they just go to take a well deserved rest. 🙏🏿

Hannah was giving me narcissist vibes ... charming and jovial with Nick's family but treats him differently when they're alone 🙁

Hannah is mean. I think she’s so insecure and this is why she talks down to Nick. She needs therapy to heal from her childhood trauma.

I agree with Natalie, I still can't remember their name, I won't remember anyone after it's over and I skipped a lot of scenes. Not that I like too much drama (I also skipped so many Chelsea scenes last year), but this season is soooooo incredibly boring.

I agree, I’m only learning people’s names through the YT commentary videos and podcasts 🤷🏾‍♀️

I wish you would do a few episodes on other countries versions of LIB, like Brazil and Sweden, and not just the english speaking countries.

There is a difference between hygiene, cleanliness, and messiness. Obvs we dont know if she is clean or messy?

Marissa picked Ramses over "Cancer Leo Leo" so as long as she makes decisions based on superstition, she won't find happiness

I think Hannah and Leo will be the most memorable

Also this season feels so dragged out for no reason. Their convo about the military was so awkward and too long 😂 like what the heck.
