    Chris seemed to have had more energy when he was carrying more body weight. Hope you and your family are well during these precarious times, Chris. You guys ever make it to central Florida for a vacation or whatever-you guys have a spot to call home 😃
    My wife makes amazing Brazilian cuisine and we love company! Take it easy, fellow rider 👍🏻

    I notice Mike asked about dynabeads about year ago. I have used them for sometime with no problems, unfortunately that doesn't help you pay for your tire machine.
    Love your videos

    Damn you Chris, I am GREEN with envy. I've the No-Mar changer mounted under my carport and the Marc Parnes balancer which works, but can sure be a bit o' a work out. Especially with Harley and Wing Dunlops, even more so!! Love your set up.
    Here on the West Coast, some shops are getting up to $50-60 for tire change/balance plus tire and hazardous waste (can't allow those nasty lead waits in the landfill. Greed pig?
    Some tires are lacking the heavy paint dot. What do you do with those??

    I had a buddy whose father owned a tire, brake and muffler shop. Here is what he told me about tires:
    1) All tire are the same just get the cheapest ones. Tread design doesn't matter as long as its On Road, Off Road or Enduro. Never pay extra for a name brand tire.
    2) Change your tires often. The cheapest tire will always outperform the most expensive worn-out tire. Riders tend to try to squeeze out every last mile from an expensive tire. Get the cheapest tire and change them often.
    3) Tires really don't need balancing if you keep your speed under 75 MPH, but 80 MPH is prob'ly OK. If it feels OK, its OK. Don't pay to get your wheel balanced unless you plan on riding over 80 MPH. Its safer to keep your speed under 75 MPH anyway.
    4) Buy your tires on the internet and mount them on the rim using simple tire irons and don't worry about balancing. A small air compressor for filling up your tires is all you need to seat the beads. Watch some videos on mounting motorcycle tires with hand tools. The No-Mar Yellow Thing can be used to prevent the other edge from slipping off as you advance.
    5) Get some mushroom plugs and all the tools needed to install them. Motorcycle shop no longer like to fix a nail hole anymore. Instead they want to sell you a new tire.
    Let me know what you think.

    Odd you mention your Dodge truck, Chris.
    My rear right tyre on my Hyundai Accent separated and the tyre went flat.
    5 quid for a new tyre valve from a Tyre Centre.

    Hi ya, I'm due to change my tyres on my 2015 1200 gs.ive noticed there's no balance weights on the front or rear rim was this luck or Bmw didn't want them showing on a new bike!

    Is tire pressure relative to the manufacture or does it not matter of manufacture?

    BMW repair requirements are nutz as are the parts. I had small BMW convertible that I ended up damaging the front left suspension avoiding a deer. The original estimate was just over $6 to repair... But when it got to the shop, BMW required that all 4 corners of the suspension replace to make sure they matched (it was an electronically controlled setup). Then they wanted the complete steering system replaced because they said there's no way to know if anything got damaged because since it's also an all electric system... Basically because the car was under warranty, BMW stated without all these parts replaced they would kill the warranty on it.. Even the one headlamp that needed replacing was $1500.. Yeah, crazy... Insurance ended up totaling the car.. It went from a $6 estimate to almost $30K because of BMW requirements requiring undamaged parts replaced.. Best part is that there was no frame damage.. I was shocked that they required so many things replaced that didn't hit a thing.. Bottom line.. never get a BMW car with the M suspension package.

    What do you think of Dynabeads/AirSoft pellets as a balancing technique?

    Chris: I'm running Continental Conti-Motion Tires this year; much less expensive than the Metzlers. Would 44/42 PSI work with these ones?
    Anyone out there have any thoughts?

    • @ChrisR.Harris
      @ChrisR.Harris  5 лет назад +1

      Capt. Dan, I know nothing about those tires. If they are as heavy as the old Metzeler and Dunlop tires then yes, 42/44 would be what I would run unless use indicated over-inflation. Some people use Michelin tires which I do not care for. They are very light-weight and that light weight causes directional instability. These wheels and tires are heavy for a reason; rolling mass. So there's an answer that isn't much of an answer but some information for you none the less. Good luck, Chris

    question for you. I have a mobile tire shop and I get a lot of calls from guys with bikes to change and balance their wheels. I have a hunter tc3500 and a corghi balancer that has a motorcycle option on it. do computer balancers use dynamic or static mode to balance bike wheels? I'm going to try and get familiarized with doing bikes

    • @ChrisR.Harris
      @ChrisR.Harris  7 лет назад

      Bikes are MUCH different than cars and there is very little profit in it. Your question depends on the balancer not the motorcycle. Most balancers should offer both options. I wish you luck.

    • @nicke2307
      @nicke2307 6 лет назад

      @@ChrisR.Harris I chose not to do it. Too many special adapters etc. Plus removing wheels on bikes is not as simple like you said

    • @ChrisR.Harris
      @ChrisR.Harris  6 лет назад

      @@nicke2307 It is not worth the aggravation. You'll make more from car and truck tire changes with a lot less grief. Good decision you've made ;)

    Changer is new. $1600 from K&L supply. The balancer ($4000) is old (2002) and made by Hofmann. I won't buy another over-priced, made in Italy, piece of shit again! The K&L replaced the miserable Hofmann tire changer that I bought in 2000. I sold it to a friend for $500 and it works fine in his home garage.
