I've had my S8 ultra 2 days now, having switched from years of ipad 12.9" ownership. Day one was a little tricky just getting used to the difference between the 2 operating systems and the way things worked, but day 2 I'm loving it. The biggest change is having multiple ways of doing the same thing with the Samsung, For example The Choice of browsers, Where each browser will act in a different way. It really is a case of playing about to get things done the way that suits you best, but that's the beauty of the android system, and many of these options are much better than Apple fullstop. One thing that has impressed me immensely is the Dex system. Its Just like using a laptop, so now all of a sudden I can open, resize, and move about as many different windows as I like, all on a tablet ( just like a notebook). I can always change back to the normal operating system and use like a normal tablet, But to be honest, with DEX being so powerful and versatile, I can't see me ever using the traditional Tablet screen again. It just makes the Apple look primitive. As far as brightness, I have no issues. It may not be as bright as the Apple, but it's ridiculously bright as it is. My only negative at the moment is the screen sensitivity due to the small borders, and I have found my hand activating on screen apps just by holding the tablet. Here the addition of a protective case has solved the problem. Im excited about exploring the tablet further, to see what more I can do with it, But so far Im more than happy with my purchase, and could never see myself going back to an Apple. If you're on the fence like I was, just take the plunge and enter the 21st century ... the ipad just looks like a relic compared to this!

I did the same. But i have been using Android for awhile. I use both eco systems depending on what project i am doing as i work on both platforms. And Samsung has their own eco system. Dont touch my ipad unless i have to. But use my iphone 13 and S22 equally. Same goes for my Apple watch and galaxy watch. One area the ipad has over Android is that ios ipad apps are optimized for a tablet. Not all Android apps are optimized for tablets. This will be fixed in Android 12 L.

@@oo0024 He wasn't calling the hardware primitive. Try reading what he wrote. He said ipad OS looks primitive to Samsungs DEX. Which it does. DEX converts your tablet into a desktop OS. I used this many times while traveling. Its is nice taking just one device with you. A ipad doesn't have that capability. So yes, it that sense ipad OS seems primitive by comparison.

I keep going back to Android Tablet due to lack of Browser addon support on any iOS device.. Anyone will say you can adblock on Safari, but Safari or any Browser on iOS lack an actual popup blocker. (Certain site still have force popup or overlay popup or new tab page popup) which can only be block by addon.

I just bought the Tab 8 Ultra, and the deciding factor was Dex mode for me. I need something that's thin, light, fairly powerful, and can take the place of a laptop at meetings or events. I am happy that (Samsung) android tablets have come so far now. Differences between Tabs and Ipads are negligible to the point of consumer preference. While I prefer the screen of the Ultra, Ipad screens are really good to... well they should be, because they are mainly made by Samsung lol.

Great tablet for basically everything. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxLNmVocUk8tnSkwWIlYSNFzWRIaFTBuzS I bought it specifically for art, and that 4k screen is really fantastic for it! Also has LOUD audio, even tho the speakers aren't in necessarily prime locations it really projects! You do need to get a case for this bad boy IMMEDIATLY though as it doesn't come with one.Battery life is really good! Standby time us FANTASTIC. This guy can go about a week on standby and be just fine. The screen is massive so the longer you have the screen on, brightness especially, it will effect battery life. I am very happy with it though! One thing that I didn't consider is that since the screen resolution is so high, viewing ticktocks/ reading webtoons can be slightly blurry. There is no way to turn down resolution either, so it just be like that.Would still judge this bad boi at 10/10 for my first tablet. I've had it 3 months now and its not shown any evidence of "slowing down" or anything. Love it!

I am fortunate to own both and I am actually very surprised at how much I love using the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra. The screen is absolutely incredible and I love the aspect ratio. The keyboard case that goes with it is stellar! I haven't been able to type with such ease on an Android tablet ever. I say go for it people! If you're used to apple products but want to try another UI, try it! Using it in portrait mode is a bit overkill, but very cool to experience. I'm honestly in love with the tablet and use it for recreational use, but I've contemplated using it for school. We'll see!

I can break it down simple for anybody trying to make the descision.
As someone who owns both, and someone who needs a machine to use all day, every day, for Work, School, Gaming, Drawing/Art, and Movies.
    Its easy.
iPad for Work, Tab for Play.
If you need a mix of everything, get the iPad Pro 12.9" M1/M2
The Tab S8 Ultra is the best machine for Watching Content and Gaming in terms of how the Game will Look to the Eyes. Videos, Movies, Photos, Artwork. It has a much more widely used Aspect Ratio, filling up the whole screen. When in need to get things done or just trying to use the tablet swiftly. It can be very frustrating. Typing on the virtual keyboard, if you accidentally swipe a little bit when pressing the spacebar, it will trigger the Gesture to close out of the App and go to the Home Screen. Or the Delete Button right above Backspace causing misclicks deleting letter before and after what was meant to be deleting. Or having no Option to Select One Word and only given the option to Select All. Things like this can be very frustrating in general, but especially when needing to get work done, and in a timely manner. The Galaxy Tablet can feel very unfinished and sloppy, with much improvements needed to be made.
The iPad Pro 12.9" is for Work. Its Very Reliable. It doesnt Freeze or Glitch. It works everytime. Processing for anything is top notch. It will always load and process. It has a much better choice of apps for Work and School.
The Magic Keyboard is superior, especially for the Hinge. It takes up less space and can be placed down in more areas, IE: sitting on the Lap.
The Apple Pencil is Better, More Consistent, More Precise. Better for writing and drawing, feels better in hand and on glass.
However, The Aspect Ratio can be pretty unconeventional for watching any content from the Modern Era, and the File Management System can be pretty unhelpful at times. The lack of SD Card slot Support is a bummer but can be worked around with attatchments and external devices. The Tablet interface when Using a keyboard isnt that great. I still find myself needing to touch the screen for gestures and other things that the mouse and keyboard cant do.
Overall if i could only have one, i would pick the iPad Pro 12.9" but only M1 or M2 with Mini Led Display. Its more reliable. Its a master at Optimization. Meaning better Reliability, Power, and Apple Pencil Use. The Tab S8s in general are a Jack of All Trades but Master at None. Lacking much needed device specific optimization.
The iPad Pro is for Work. While The Tab s8 Ultra is for Play.

Agreed, I'm 100% an Android fanboy... It's all I buy. However, early in the video, when he says "in my mind, there is a clear winner," I IMMEDIATELY said (out loud, although I'm by myself) "oh yeah, it's the iPad, no doubt." Betweem the benchmarks, fit and finish, compact size for mobility, and how the stands work in ones lap, the iPad is far and away a more practical, and thusly more useable tablet. Think about which one would be easier to take put in, and take out of a shoulder bag. Or sitting on a park bench, propping it up in your lap. The Samsungs stand is virtually unusable in the lap. Between hobbies, and workplace usability, and ease of carriage, and the number of positions and environments itvs practical to use in, the iPad wins... So, why am I an Android fanboy? I'm a FIRM "bang for the buckc guy. I don't just look at performance, I look at performance per dollar. Android wins out every time. I currently use a 2015, Android 7, Asus Zenpad 3s 10. 64gb ssd, 4gb RAM, 2.0 Hexacore, Adtreno 510 gpu (rare, most were Graphics VR chips), and it STILL outperforms the majority of my modern devices, considering price. My Asus runs about $125, in excellent, nm condition. About $170 new old stock. The performance is more than enough for casual, and lightweight professional use. Runs virtually all modern app store apps, and is still faster than my Android 11 Octacore Motorola Moto G Pure cellfone. All that for $125 wins out over any Apple product at that price point, and this carries straight through all price points. Increase your budget to $250, Android wins. Increase price point to $500, same deal. It's only in brand new products that Apple continuosly wins out over Android, and I just don't find tablets to be an important enough tool to pay brand new prices. Especially when I can complete all of my daily tasks on a 7 year old device... The Apple is the better tablet, but for the money? Get a used, high end, Android device.

My experience is mostly good, I like back-lit keyboard but sometimes it stops working or track pad times-out. Waiting on updates for a better keyboard experience, I trust Samsung. S Pen works great but can't find button at night needs a simple solution. Similar experience to S7 plus but bigger screen is not a bad thing 14.6 is still portable and keyboard book cover feels nice . Let's hope for more major app support.

I absolutely hated that it could only be used in two angles. So much so, I returned it for the Logitech combo touch. I find I use the Tab S7 when I’m doing more work, and the iPad for more passive tasks. I don’t draw or edit videos, so the optimized apps don’t really affect me much. I tend to game on the Tab S7 to, as I use a lot of the cloud gaming solutions like Stadia and xCloud, and with native apps on android, it’s just a better experience. Samsung has been working with Microsoft on a few system things...and I had no idea that they would buy into the Surface stand. I use surface and Samsung side by side because for some reason they have found a way of integrating the systems. But if Samsung is getting to use some of the Surface ideas, I can't wait to see how far better they will improve on this. After all, as much as I like Microsoft, they are known of having good ideas with poor. implementation

Honestly in summary used every single samsung from tab s6 samsung tablet, iPad this is first one in years since the iPad 2 lol , I use it for business and don’t use a phone anymore but honestly this is what I found.
    S8 ultra
    Pros
    Work like a phone
WhatsApp - no WhatsApp on iPad
Phone calls -iPad needs a voip line
Sms - iPad needs a iPhone
Bigger screen WAYY BETTER THEN IPAD
    Dual apps
    Dex
    SD card
    S- pen beautiful
    Multi windows
    Cons
Doesn’t out 4k samsung Dex, 4k stage manager
Doesn’t have extend monitor for dual Dex like stage manager
Camera is not as good as iPad
It’s over heats when I push to max, iPad M1 handes it well
Battery seems to be much better on the iPad especially heavy tasks
Small apps I miss on ultra - pro create, proper video editor
and major downfall s8 ultra the browser is NOT desktop class used a few non work , I absolutely cannot use desktop versions of some of my cloud software on the iPad I can.

The Samsung is really tempting right now. I'm in university and i recently switched to Apple and I regret it sometimes because you can't multitask on the phone. Sometimes I want to knock homework out on my phone and watch a video at the same time for the homework and thats not possible on the phone and its just not as smooth on the ipads. I think thats what making me lean towards the Galaxy Tabs8 ultra.

Now if they release a new ipad with 16:10 aspect ratio that would probably be the one to get. The ultra's size takes some getting used to because it's essentially a laptop without keyboard until you attach the case to it(still claiming since it doesn't come with the package here in the Philippines).

As a student (and having previously owned an S6 lite), the lack of notetaking apps is a major dealbreaker for me. Samsung Notes is a good app for notetaking, but still not comparative to Goodnotes or Notability. There were also several instances where the app crashed entirely, which was worrying since I have my handwritten notes on the app itself. Another notetaking app I used was squidnotes, but that was even less optimized than the Samsung Notes app. The spen is also a pain to use when writing, because of its positioning. I find myself always accidentally pressing the Spen button, and it got super annoying to the point that I decided it would be better to buy another pen without the button this time. If you're a student looking to get a tablet for notetaking, annotating, and other school-related tasks, I'd recommend an iPad.

I used to do that on my android phone. Laptops usually don’t have cameras on the back. If i had the apps and OS updates I want on android I probably would replace my laptop and tablet with a Samsung. The issue I have with Android and especially Samsung, is that they don't offer the same support that Apple does, Samsung devices after a year or two start to slow down, I've got a galaxy note 9 and it's so slow, I also had a one plus 5 and that's still very fast (probably the only Android company that knows how to do software, not sure about Google devices as they seem to be buggy). In the UK Samsung use the exonys chips so maybe that's part of the issue that I see. I gather the Snapdragon is used on these tablets in the UK so maybe that will help, but the sheer difference in power makes me think the Samsung devices will age very quickly and won't be worth the money. I have an iPhone 6s plus for work and it still works very quick. For my own money I've never bought an apple iPhone or iPad but have bought multiple Android devices and only not a single one had impressed me in both hardware and software together, if only oxygen OS could be used on s Samsung tablet it might be worth looking into. The biggest issue I have with Apple Is they extortionate amount they charge for storage when you cannot expand them. I'm in two minds on what get.

I understand that they want to differentiate and keep separate iPad from the MacBook lineup to push the customers to buy MacBook or Mac mini or whatever, and I understand that they can’t completely disappear the boundaries between these devices. Otherwise, everyone will buy the iPad as a complete laptop replacement Because a lot of people asking to bring the MacOS system to the iPad. I’m pretty sure it’s not going to happen, but they can make just a little bit more usable, a little bit closer to the desktop operating system not completely the same but just a little bit closer.

Wouldn’t it be great if you could merge all the great features from both tablets into one ?
For me I do prefer bigger bezels for handling a tablet, i like dex and the multi tasking on the galaxy’s .
Multitasking on the iPads does feel somewhat clunky to me , I do like a lot about the magic keyboard and especially the extra port.
I can’t really say I’m a fan of the Apple Pencil gen 2 , it just feels somewhat limited in its functions and uninspiring (sorry).
I’m not familiar with the Pencil on the galaxy tab , but if it’s anything like the galaxy note phones S pen with air command , and a bunch of other features , then I’d be all over it.
As a long time android boy now , and an iPhone/iPad user for a little over a year now , for me there is a lot to like about the dark side, at the same time , just like android it’s not perfect and some areas they could improve , ports could be improved on both , I miss the 3.5 mm headphone jacks , and on these very expensive devices , not having other useful ports is like wtf ? , I like the sd card option on the galaxy , I wouldn’t mind if it was the common SD 2 though.
There are times when I wish I had android stuff again , and other times I’m glad I have iOS, perhaps the only answer is to have both 😀.
In short IMO , both companys could do better in some software , and they both could equip their devices with a bit more laptop hardware features like extra ports for accessories, you should not have to use bloody dongles or usb multi hubs on one or two or even three thousand dollar + tablets.
    Nirvana is not here yet.

Having the camera positioned in portrait mode means that there cannot be charging for the s-pen on the top of the device. Idk the exact reason why but it's either due to space or the magnets interfering with the camera itself. This is what happened with the new ipad lineup, where the camera was not portrait, which caused apple pen usage to become a nightmare. There's not support for gen 2 pen and you need two dongles to connect/charge the gen 1 pen.

Previously I used to have ipad but whenever I go for my lessons I got to bring both ipad and iphone in which I think it was troublesome. When I started to use my Samsung S6 lite tablet I need not have to bring 2 items to add weight to my bag. Samsung S6 Lite can be used as a tablet as well as a handphone which can reduce the weight in my bag.

Hello. Good video. I just wanted to tell you that the Samsung Tab S8 Ultra does come with the keyboard as a gift, so there is a significant saving against the iPad, apart from how well you mentioned in your video the pencil also includes it. Greetings!

I'm actually watching this on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra 5G and you're right.
Its keyboard it's not so impressive, but I'm not using it so often,
so it is not a big issue for me.

      I have nothing against Apple,
      I have tried their products,
just, android products are better for me.
      But of course,
it's an individual feeling and decision.
It's always amazing to see the right competition between two probably most innovative companies in tech right now.
It's a shame we can't see something similar by Asus, Lenovo, Acer, Xiaomi, or Oppo.

    • @PatrickRambles

Agreed again. It's very personal and fanboys gonna fan. But in my opinion, Samsung and Apple are the only real competitors, the rest is scrambling for crumbs.

      Well said.
      You're 100% right.
If you are looking for a midrange or the low end product,
      it's a different story.
But, if you want to buy the best of the best possible available,
      it's Samsung or Apple,
      nothing else.

I mean they add so many camera to devices anymore anyway why not just add another camera on the iPad Pro so that way you have all the options for viewing angles.

After waiting two years for apple to move the cam to landscape I gave up and got a tab ultra. I lived it for two days, but the OLD screen kills my eyes because of the PWM flickering the hurts about 10% of people. So I returned it and will finally get the 12, 9 “ iPad. But i won't be using it for video calls.

When talking screens you have to talk about reflectivity. The Samsung’s reflectivity is so high that it can look like a bad quality LCD in medium to bright lit areas. You lose all of the black level and vivid colors of OLED.

I tried the s8, was a bit overwhelming with the price. The notch was bothersome. The edge of the screen was so small that I would constantly have accidental screen taps that would either change the video or cause misplaced actions on my games. Over all I decided the tab was not for me.

Great comparison. I have the 12.9 M1 iPad Pro and I use it a lot, but it is not a computer and very difficult to use like a computer. However, I knew that when I bought it and my desktop computer is a 27” iMac. Also, I bought the cellular version for times when standard internet is not available. Don’t use cellular a lot except in the summer months at the lake cabin. The larger screen on the S8 looks attractive for more screen size usage. It also appears that it have full screen usage for video whereas the the iPad does a 16:9 video interface. The S8 definitely has its advantages. Hopefully, Apple will consider the competition and add a larger screen to the iPad series, but I’m not holding my breath. Apple wants consumers to have multiple devices.

Agree with your view on benchmarks, both machines are very fast for everyday use regardless of which one has the fastest overall benchmark score. There seems to be too much focus on this metric implying the faster the benchmark the better the device when this is far from the truth.
