This is the stuff. I have blown a hole into the side of 2 chipper bags so far. Lesson learned. The idea of collecting straight into a trailer with this discharge setup sounds bomb proof. Thank for posting.
Excellent video. My bag finally gave out and I was running through my MacGyver list of modifications for my chipper when I saw this. I'll be doing this mod tomorrow. I'll probably use some corrugated drain pipe I have instead of the dust collection hose. The original bag that came with this chipper is worthless and proof that no one thought about a zipper for easy emptying, a draw string instead of a nylon strap that binds, and handles. For a $60+ dollar bag you would think they could have improved on the original design. Thanks to you, I no longer need one. Nice Job!!
I wanna see how it works when you actually feed it some volume not just a hand full at a time. You are gonna be spending more time unclogging that tube than chipping.
Hey, if you blow that back into the hopper. It will rechip the chips eventually you have ready to use sawdust. Or when the negibors at work. Just point the hose over the fence and play dumb.
Great idea for using simple off the shelf parts as a 'proof of concept'. I'll try the same. I have the more vertical model (247.776350), but it has the same output chute. The chips come out with impressive velocity and a huge volume of air! I see no problem with it pushing chips through the hose. The feed rate is limited by the 7.5HP engine on mine anyway. Thanks for sharing!
I’m surprised companies don’t think of these as attachments when they make the machines. They know you’re gonna make a pile of chips pretty fast and the next obvious chore is to put them somewhere.
Appliedparanoia Is it easy to feed? I have the 6.5 hp tecumseh and I have to really push branches in. Bought it used so maybe the blades need sharpening...
Just picked up a 5hp unit in rough shape. Since im already taking it all apart, i want to make some mods to get the most out of it. This is one of the only vids i can find. Dis you end up doing anything else to it? This is cool!
Now if they made one you could push like a lawnmower and it sucker up the leaves and mulched then bagged them if buy one. Would never have to rake again.
I have a the similar one with a plastic swivel chute with a Tecumseh 5.0 HP engine that has died. I inherited from my 90 year old father and it's about 25 years old but a great design. He also said he never changed the engine oil, OMGosh ikr!!!!! My question is what engine is on the model? and can I ask you what the engine serial number is to see if it will fit mine
Just go down to harbor freight and buy a predator motor bigger is better, you want more hp. These are 6.5 hp briggs if you didn't know bridggs filed bankrupt it was being made in china and the motors are total crap now. The old made in America motors were bullet proof. Upper management got greedy and fired all the union workers.
Great idea! whats the model number? I have the exact same chipper and need to buy parts but the model number tag is long gone and i bought it used with no manual.

YES! The neighbors gutters will never be the same!

You missed the part where he says 'proof of concept'.

I think that's pretty darn good...! Nice work.

Feed the outlet into the inlet and freak out RUclips.
Oh, my, god
Great idea! Have problems keeping chips from flying everywhere and this means can control it better

Now mount it on a trailer and make a inlet mod to connect to your mower discharge and you’ve got a Cyclone Rake/Trac-vac!

I just bought one of those chippers. Can you tell me how to drain the crankcase oil?

Good idea to use it the house
Great Proof Of Concept... You should sell kits... I will add this to my to-do list and gather the parts... Thank you for the video!
Does this help with putting the shredded material in to a cart?
Very cool idea.
