Never realized until now that Kyu Sakamoto was one of the many victims of the JAL 123 crash. Makes it even more tragic.

I remember when I heard the news about Stevie Ray Vaughan. So sad. He was one of the greats. His music will live on.

My father served in WWII and told me something that he and others were sworn to secrecy on. Glenn Miller was NOT killed in a plane crash. He was accidentally killed during a bar fight between US servicemen. It would absolutely destroy morale if that got out, so Miller was “placed” (not physically) at the site of a plane crash to say that’s how he was killed. My dad told me this in the mid 1970’s, and said it was still never discussed. I had forgotten all about it until decades later I read on the internet another claim by someone that this is what actually happened. My father was outside the bar in Paris when it happened. I have no reason to believe he would make it up. The story I read years later corroborates his claim. Supposedly actor David Niven knew the truth as well but would not discuss Miller again (they were friends) after his death.

Not being American, I find it refreshing, that theres a list, that isnt just completely or almost completely about Americans while calling "worlds worst" or whatever. Just like u call ur national baseball league the World Series and stuff like that. Coz the vast majority of ppl on those lists are completely unknown outside the US. Indeed, there are still a lot of Americans on this list, and I havent of any but a handful of them.
As for the non-Americans on the list, I couldve suggested several just as famous or more famous (outside the US), but ok.
In general, the more years have passed by since the death, the less likehood uve heard of them. Especially if ur not a student of history or following their sport or branch of music or such.

That's why I'm so scared to get on a plane because I don't want nothing like that to happen to me on a plane.
