Thank you so much for this! Ive been thinking about these pool ponds for a while but didn't know how they'd work. So helpful! I dream of having koi someday 🥺
This is the best pond build I've ever seen. As an older woman with a turtle this helped a lot! You really just don't know. I'm in Texas and I plan on moving my red eared slider outside. I'm doing my pond this large but this definitely helped with what I plan on doing.
I just put 1 up and in 2023 pool $89 and I added a sand filter/Pump for $289 k2 media $45 air pump $59 I went with a big sand filter so i wasn't so restricted on fish
I had mine set up for 3 years (I took it down to build an in-ground pond) and mine never ripped. I don't know what the total lifespan of these pools is
I have a very large above ground pool that I want to make koi, do I need a different filter or will the pool sand filter work? The pool is approx 13,000 gallons I estimate, any help appreciated
Thank you 🙂I don't think it's overstocked yet, but I actually am a bit concerned for if the goldfish breed again. Also, I think it might look overstocked when I film underwater because the fish tend to swarm the cameral lol So there probably aren't really as many fish as it may seem
Mostly by cleaning out the filter, doing water changes if needed and I have another video where I made a DIY pond vacuum to help pick up some of the stuff at the bottom ruclips.net/video/boXSvAsFLow/видео.html
I had this pool for 3 years before I took it down to build my in ground pond. It wasn't damaged or anything so I'm not sure how long it would have lasted, but for sure at least 3 years. Having said that, I don't get snow or extremely cold weather where I live either. I imagine ice or snow would damage it
I don't heat it, I just have cold water fish and I live in the LA area so the water doesn't ice over either. I have seen these pond de-icers online for people who live in colder climates, but luckily I don't need one where I live
That's a good question. I guess it would depend based on someones location and what water and power costs in a particular area, but for me personally, since this is on my parents property, I pay them $100 a month to have my pond there and that's supposed to cover the cost of having it running, but the way I see it is as if I am paying rent for my pond lol.
Oh yeah we get those here where I live too. I'm not sure what it was, but something has gotten into my filter a few times and moved things around. I'm pretty sure it was a raccoon, but I'm not certain
I actually just took it down a couple months ago because I am currently building an in ground pond in it's place, but yeah it was still up and running, perfectly fine
From what I've heard, koi will try to eat anything that can fit in their mouths haha. I don't know if my koi has ever eaten any of my mosquito fish, but I don't think it has because every now and then I'll see the mosquito fish swimming around
Do you know of you can get 10-15,000 pool ponds unless the pool is under 1000 gallons the listing will not tell you but from rough estimate it looks like the pool will probably be 1-2,000 dollars (if my calculations on the gallons the pool holds are correct) do you know a way to possibly make that cheaper?
As for making the price cheaper, I don't know. Although, this would probably be the time of the year the prices are lower. I saw one online that was about 6000 gallons for $1200. I think if you wanted to go bigger than that you would probably be looking at those above ground pools that have like the metal sidings. I imagine they would be quite a bit more expensive
I still have it up and running to this day, so a little over 3 years. I'm going to take it down soon though because I am going to build a real in ground pond in its place
How long will a pond like this last in the elements before it has to be replaced? Seems like it would be a pain to remove all the rocks and begin again if it’s only a couple years.
I guess it depends on where you live. If you get snow where you live then I probably would not recommend one of these, but for where I live (the Los Angeles area) it seems to be fine. I've had mine since 2018
@@TobiasHolenstein I live in Temecula Ca where the weather gets fairly hot during the summer. I’ll probably have an algae outbreak. Could I make it work? Do you need a heater in the winter?

Hi, just curious, what is the temperature of the area that you live in?
How has the fliter and pump been doing for you?
That’s a dream come true👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Thanks Matthew! 🙌
Did you go to Diamond Ranch?

Doe's the pool rip underneath in time

mabey someday u could set up ponds for people as a job🤠
Yeah! That would be a pretty fun job

can I put adult red ear slider in that pool pond your showing
Yeah you could. I guess you would just need to build something so that they could completely get out of the water and be dry
How can each bag be 5 cubic feet?
Pretty dope

What about the monthly running cost?

I put common goldfish in my pond and the ate all the mosquito larvae that was in there in like 3 days.
