I've watched several of your reviews, and decided I may spend the extra $$ on the BTR7, based upon your comments. I was looking at the Moondrop Moon River 2, and the Shanling UA3. I just looked at the BTR7 but went with the BTR3K when I saw that the 5 and 7 had a Sabre DAC. I've not had luck with ESS DACs, they always seem to have faint crackle and pops in the treble region and it's extremely annoying. No such issues with AKM DACs.

It can’t hurt to have at least one dongle in your arsenal. The primary appeal is portability. However, dongles can’t match full on or full sized DAC’s or DAP’s far as sound quality & quantity goes. Great Review. I was really surprised by how much I liked the BTR7 too. Some of my other DACs like Mojo 2, Gryphon, RS2... are a bit better in sound quality but they are not linear sounding, are less portable, don't have a highly customizable EQ (not Qudelix level but still more bands than Mojo 2). I'm still keeping mine as a backup pair along with some DACs that have a unique sound character like RS2 & Mojo 2 to get better synergy with certain IEMs/Headphones.
Hi. Since we have a point of comparison in common (Mojo2) I'm curious to ask you how the treble extension of the BTR7 is compared to the Mojo2. The Mojo2 I find rolls off/smooths over the treble too much and as a result I don't really like it. I have to have sparkle, I need metal instruments to sound like metal (Mojo2 sounds plasticy). How does the BTR7 compare in this regard? Does it retain the metallic zing and air or is it rolled off too? (BTR5 has the same problem as Mojo2 but even worse).
@@jafizzle95 No, BTR7 won't give you that sparkly treble, it's a bit more neutral sounding. A small upgrade sonically with iems. However, if you have harder-to-drive headphones the difference may be more noticeable because of the K7's higher power output.
@@Gizaudio interesting - I’m looking for a significant sonic upgrade over the BTR7 in the form of a desktop set up under $500. Do you think that’s something that exists? Even if it’s used. Thanks
@@MrDomq22 if the BTR7 is transparent and has enough power for what you are using, what do think a "significant sonic upgrade" could involve? You could look into getting a tube amp, that would add harmonic distortion to the signal which can sound good subjectively. I have a Xduoo TA-26 tube amp which pairs well with the HD650 for example (but little else, it's not very flexible- it sounds bad with my planars and most IEMs). The K7 will have substantially more power if you NEED substantially more power. You don't with IEMs. Ultimately if you want "a significant sonic upgrade", probably the best thing to do is to change your IEMs/headphones. That can actually make a significant difference.

Nope btr7 is just like a leather phone case
Plus for upgrading as buyer perspective, it's better to sell ur btr5 and buy the btr7 cuz I done this for my shangling up5 too and it's worth it
I have btr7. For the case problem, I used an iron money clip and double-sided tape glue (which was made from foam) to attach it to the btr7 case. Problem solved, very easy.

what headphones best to use with this? im just getting into this
Hello. What can you say about the Earmen Colibri and Cayin ru6 in comparison with this device?
I love my Btr7 but hate the case lol, definetly wish it had a clip like the Btr5
I bought a money clip that comes with adhesive for $1 and stuck it to the case been working perfectly for 2 months now 😂, Also acts as metal to stick on car's magnet holder.
But how do they do with overhead headphones?
Will this one work as a tabletop?
Were you testing bluetooth or a wired connection?
Wired. Bluetooth is good but definitely better wired
@@Gizaudio thanks and what was it wired to? Using usb?
@@REX4340yes
@@REX4340 yes, USB
Friend, tell me some headphones or a player with physical keys to rewind tracks 10 seconds forward or backward. and not just switching tracks forward back, do such things even exist?
Main question - does it sound better than a smartphone? if yes by how much? 10%, 50%, a 100% better?
P.S. My smartphone is Galaxy S10e + Audio Technica MSR7b headphones.
Many owners of the MSR7B say they sound better using a balanced output which the BTR7 has. I've never heard them so I can't say for sure. Thanks for watching!
I prefer the shangling up5 the knob is just better imo
Still haven't heard that one. Thanks for watching!
Hey have you used both btr7 and up5?. which one sounds better?
@@beyondtheuniverse999 I haven't but Id go for a Bluetooth adapter that has buttons vs a knob since mine doesn't scroll volume any more have to use the app to change it or have a mic with volume buttons on the cable
I am looking for something to brighten up my car stock speakers. I was mainly interested in the BTR7 then the m11 plus and q7 dsd512 caught my attention. Any suggestions which one would be best for my usage? Thanks
i like the m11
I just bought Momentum 4 and I have I phone 13 , can BTR 7 make it louder
Absolutely YES.
is it better to buy this instead of DAP?
Depends on the DAP but Yes, I have a DAP and I end up using my phone + BTR7 more often than my DAP.
@@asotomayor which DAP do you have?
I know it’s apples to oranges but would the K7 be a sonic upgrade over the BTR7? I own the BTR7 now but I’m looking for a desktop solution next month and the K7 is on my radar.
That can actually make a significant difference.

btr7 or questyle m15?
BTR7 any day of the week and twice on Sunday
better than mojo?
it will of course be better than mojo unless you're some sort of a cable fetichist.
FiiO BTR7 v/s FiiO Q3, which one is more powerful?
BTR7 has more power.

The color of the unit. B Type for Black, T Type for Titanium.
Will this power Focal Clear headphones?
Is THX a certification only??

I WANT THE ASIAN GUY!! NO Honkei!! Whhyyyyyeeeee 😭
Background noise is so annoying.
ok ok i have the BTR7, there is only one negative its too big, they should do away with the 3.5 and just make it 4.4 balanced, i know its covering all bases but what audio enthusiast doesnt use IEMs with a balanced cable, leave 3.5 for the casual listener/console gamers of the world
99% of the market for this device still use 3.5mm.
😂 😂😂 go cry about it it's not that serious 🤡
You need to listen to qudelix 5k.
Btr7 has more power, i might want to order to try.
To me, qudelix 5k is much better than Btr5.
BTR7 is awesome hardware with very poor software how many years is Fiio now making these things and they still can make a good App and EQ i may just have to get Qudelix 5k
