I've made that same call and dash up to Hobbytown Plano a few times myself. And always for Arrma parts. I got to drive the Sledge yesterday at Traxxas HQ store. . Fun truggy. I was surprised at how much better it felt than the eRevo 2.0. Felt much more solid and planted. IT was also alot easier to keep the nose down.
Good comparison. I think they are both great cars and competition is great for our hobby. I have roughly $650 in my Kraton. $329 Black Friday, $20 metal gear servo, $260 Max 6 combo 1650kv 20T pinion, $40 Dumborc 6 channel w/avc. Gps at 66mph on grass on 6s, can run 8s. Stock punch setting (3). If the traxxas was $650-699 I’d own one as well. Can’t lose with either of these. 👍🏻
Your troll game is on 10000000! Lol. I’m one minute into the video and cracking up!
Fun video regardless of the vehicles. The wheels blowing out after 15 runs though...as a non-racer who doesn't ever change tires...that's a bit concerning to me as I hate buying new tires. But it's always hard to tell because everyone drives their own way. So fun to see the boys out there having fun with RC and flipping them.
@Memer Dreamer the truck overall is very impressive to me though. Mark has given it a very fair review in videos and I think people are absolutely gonna love it.
Choice is good. Fun times were had with the kids, that's always good. Just don't like that Traxxas tax. Kraton 6s RTR 599.99 and its on sale right now for 529.99. None of these companies are my friends so I'll be trying to keep as much money as I can in my wallet.😉
Ya but don’t forget you will have to upgrade the steering out of the box if you want the kraton to turn!
@@davidpetersen6373 or turn up the esc bec to give more power to the servo don’t turn it up to much or else it’ll fry it make sure that you figure out the max voltage the servo can take before you do this it might already be at its limit you can figure this out by searching for the servo on horizon hobby or amain hobbies in the product description you can use the controller to program the esc but it’s easier with the programming box but the stock servo should more than strong enough it’s just in the slow side but upgrad8ng the servos never hurt if you get a good one for the price protec makes some really good servos some of the protec servos have optional gear kits in case you break the gears an other good option is align servos there made for helicopters but are really fast and stron like the protec ones you can get spare parts for them
@@eminstinct4114 how you do that?
These cars not cheap
@@d-nice2866 there’s lots of tutorials one RUclips just look up bec tutorial for spektrum firma 150 amp esc
Nice video dude! Was interesting to see how these monsters stacked up to each other. One thing I will mention though is that in the beginning the arrma was gonna run you just shy of $1k… realistically If you got all the stock Spektrum electronics from JennysRC (and I even made a video on it a while back and JRC is NOT a scam) then it would only be about $720. (I know you put a really nice Savox in there, but the stock S652 is $20 on JRC and from what I’ve seen is actually really fast and torquey) And as for the punch settings, you can adjust those with the little secondary button on the esc without the little programming card. Not trying to diss you or anything, and I like your content, just wanted to put that out there.
Still not sure why most feel one has to be better than the other. I don’t own either but both look great.
I mean it's not a feeling. One's always going to be better.
story of our lives right
650 kraton v5 is more inline with the traxxas sledge. The exb can be any cost over 450. You can put a solid max 8 system for 200. That's 650. And decent remote and reciever for 100. It's 750. Servo you're at 800. 1000 is a upgraded price range. Imo.
Awww man. Can’t believe there wasn’t a ‘*not a fart’ disclaimer. I’m not angry, Mark. Just disappointed ☹️😉 Just messing. You’re rapidly becoming my favourite channel. Keep em coming Mark 👍🏻
i got you covered in the next next one.... hahaha
i think both are great. traxxas studied the flaws on the kraton and obviously fixed those issues. now it's arrma's move.
Exactly what I was thinking when I saw traxxas’ improvements on the Kraton design. Can’t be mad at competition!
Fair assessment.
You quoted the Kraton EXB at FULL RETAIL with an overpriced Servo, and a ridiculous number for RXTX. This is so swayed 😂😂😂
You can literally get the motor and ESC as brand new take offs for 115$ for the set on Jennys RC.
And a Amazon 35kg Servo is more than enough.
My entire Kraton EXB build comes out to 80$ less than a sledge with the same system in it. 😂
Hi mark, after owning them both a few months which would be your recommendation, I’m torn between the two.
Every rc will break. All depending on weather , driver skill, and knowledge of what is a "safe" jump. Ofcourse you got maniacs launching rc,s to the moon.. leave that up to chance. Rolling the dice at that point. Great video. Maybe your kids will like rc s more now. 👍
Your right, like their trying to break it.
Your youngest had the best reason. "Because it's fun". That's all that matters in this hobby. Great Video Mark.
My kids are the same way. I give them each a truck and they chase each other with sticks and rocks
EXBs blow servos pretty easily because they have a poor steering linkage geometry. It's the reason I have my turning radius so high on my kraton. They need to shorten the mechanical travel.
Yeah, and the servo saver design on the 5th scale is just..bad.
Didnt blow a since servo on mine yet. I use cheap 25kgs. The servo saver is in the soft side
Awesome video you inspired me to get the sledge and show it on my channel Great work on your videos
Back to Back trucks. Fun is fun either brand
In my opinion they are not at all comparable. The Sledge is a RTR and the Kraton EXB is a roller! 👍
For what it's worth, he _did_ put the same ESC and motor into his Kraton that come in the RTR ones.
And the V5 RTR Kraton 6S actually has a lot of the durability upgrades from EXB, so should be fairly comparable to the Sledge (but is cheaper).
Oh he didn't put his crocks in 4 wheel drive.... had me in stitches! Great content brutha! I want a sledge sooooo bad!
Looking forward to the Sledge! Made the mistake of adding a ton to my XMAXX and then it started braking and having hearing issues. It sits taken apart in a box🤬. I’m leaving the sledge stock as I did the Maxx and it never breaks. I added the 1.5 gears, a new motor and esc etc and man just the bit extra weight has caused so many issues! Never again. Love you brought the kids out!!
Thanks for coming to our shop mark! Sadly I wasn’t working that day :(
Your kids are natural drivers. Kudos to them for playing with rc,s when they didn't want to. 👏
That's why someone should buy either car, just like the younger kid said "It's just Fun" that's is the best reason to buy a R/C any of the name brand hobby grade models will be tons of fun, and are quality so do like the boys and pick what one looks best to you...both are such great R/C cars...the sledge is new but will be awesome...
Hey preciate you pumping these videos out for those of us who are buying their next RC car and undecided. I think I’m buying the sledge next just because of product/ parts availability…. Which u outlined in the beginning of the video 😂
I'm getting mine at the end of the month! Can't wait! Have fun Rc'n man !!!!
Kids in the video are so funny 🤣 For a second there, I thought your oldest was wearing my shirt lmao!
I think I’m getting the Sledge, I’m done with the cheap HOSIM junk. Great video! My 6 yo son and I love playing with our RC trucks.
Good comparison, and let the boys do the driving🥰. The carnage wasnt to bad. And i enjoy both brands a lot❤, thank you, and happy weekend
I can say with confidence just from owning both arrma and Traxxas, that the Traxxas will definitely have the better drivetrain. Other than that, if price is no object, both are great choices. One allows you to pick whatever electronics you want, and they other comes ready to go with pretty good specs. I do prefer the c-hubs on the sledge as compared to the pillowball hubs on the kraton 6s, as well as the fixed turnbuckles on the sledge, especially if they're more durable. But it is nice to have the tuning options on the kraton as well as the LSD differentials which is neat.
It took me 5 months of purposeful attempts to break my typhon 6s. I broke an a arm from 30’ in the air. I have yet to break my kraton exb. I race and bash 4 days a week for 3 hour sessions. I’ve broke Traxxas rigs right out of the box. Not saying I don’t own a fleet of them. I have 11 Traxxas rigs but they do break often.
@@Sackmatters that’s cap
@@js5906 I have videos of it. I flexed the chassis so many times that my 4s has a permanent bend in it. I’m not arguing with someone who has a slash as their profile pic. My slash is the only Traxxas I have that doesn’t break every time I drive it.
@@Sackmatters we all have different experiences and the real issue is we dont acknowledge this. For example, my comparison story is....my hoss has yet to have any major breaks (only lower plastic shock cap part) and I sent in 20-30 times off big jumps. The amount of time (months/years) is really not something we can use as a metric as some people might drive their car 1 time in 6 months and another 30-50 times. That dude driving 1 time could break and have the worst exp, the other guy could break a few parts and be 100% extremely happy customer still.
Now, back to my hoss story (maybe 2 battery packs through it at the time)...It was stock. I also had a stock NIB notorious, took it to the same places to jump (1 battery pack into it)...bent the chassis, bent both shock towers, and bent both rear shocks and also the top shock mount screw for 1 front shock snapped in half. I still enjoy both trucks. So it's very hard to take 1 persons experience as "this is the example we will all experience"
@@patrickmccarthy3289 I agree. I just find that Traxxas rigs are bound to fail especially in the cold and 6 months out of the year I’m driving my trucks in the snow. Even my x maxx breaks quite often. I installed a brand new front diff with ring and pinion. The first pack out on 6s it blew the front diff I had just replaced. $75 down the drain in 10 minutes.
That was so fun! Cool kids Bro! I have 4 Arrmas now. It’s just time for something different. Well… 🤔ok. Not different different. Just figure it is time to try a large traxxas. I like the Sledge.
how are you doing wheelies that easy with the sledge bc when I floor my sledge my tires are just spinning but I can't do wheelies
I think thas a pretty fair comparison for first time bash with the young men. Great video and glad you all got to enjoy the nice weather for a bit.
I've recently purchased a Traxxas TRX-4 2021 Ford Bronco with light kit and Pro-Line racing crawler tires and wheels. I think the crawler is awesome.
No way your telling us these kids don’t like RC’s when they out here front flipping and back flipping like professionals lol
they like RC racing at the tracks i think is what he was saying, not so much the other stuff
@@patrickmccarthy3289 oh okay I gotcha. I guess racing RC’s is totally different than playing with RC’s that were mean to tumble 300 yards and survive. What type of RC cars do most people race? Buggies?
@@drivenrc lots of buggy, truggy and short course vehicles.
Im a basher more so than anything else but it is a different mindset/purpose when you race competitively compared to just bashing in your street or local park.
The * looks at name *
Sledge ya the Sledge 😂🤘🏼
Great video, I can’t believe Evan isn’t really into RC that much! That might be a side effect of having a dad who loved RCs so much, I’d be happy to be your son! Lol I’d also jump at the chance to bash a beast like a Keaton EXB or a Sledge!
Yea. Kraton and sledge is closest comparison . But if you buy both ready to run I’d rather buy the sledge , no one can argue Traxxas radio . Reciever and servo is better and don’t have to be changed right out the box like a armma. Every armma I have I’ve had to do this to . And I own 40 rc cars . Armma and Traxxas
I introduced my 10yr old son to the arc and bought him a wltoys 124019 and he is addicted! When he comes from to school wants to tv first and forgets about his phone (Roblox etc)
I’m so glad I can share my hobby with my boy
I like Arrma but I can’t stand the servo saver in the Kraton EXB. It was pretty much unusable until I shimmed it, still wasn’t great so need to try another shim then I’m sure I’ll blow the servo. Anyway both trucks seem really similar. I’d probably still go Kraton for the money, it’s cheaper unless you put good electronics in it, then it’s more expensive but way better electronics than the Traxxas.
Mark you exb bumper isnt really broken it just pulled the screws out. It happened to me on my first runs too. I just put washers and put button head screws on and it never pulled away again. The outcast exb and talion exb use the same design for the bumper but they now have washer+button head instead of countersunk the kraton has
Any chance of a comparison of the 1/8 Truggies between Kaiju EXT, Arrma Kraton, Team Corally Punisher XTR and Traxxas Sledge.
I recently just got a Kraton 6s, my first basher and am looking for places in DFW to bash at. Know any good spots in DFW, I'm in north Fort Worth.
The first backflip Ethan did was epic! 😄👌
Man i wish my hobbytown was that nice, the one we have here in Tallahassee fl they dont even like having rc cars in their store and hardly have any parts for traxxas or arrma.
My hobbytown is slowing dying. Not much rc selection but that could be because of the shipping situation now.
Maybe its just hobbytown in general. Ive been driving 2 hrs to florida rc outlet in Jacksonville and they have been great with everything
I’m just glad we have another shop here. Gs hobby. They have everything even an indoor off-road carpet track.
@@chrishampton555 that's awesome
“Fixing my Kraton” is something I’ve gotten SO tired of saying 😂
Love driving it. But I keep a large stockpile of parts for it because it breaks. A lot. Again though, I live driving it. EXB with MAX6 1650kv combo. I’ve spent WAY too much time fixing it though.
I'm so sick of the whiny babies that defend one brand or the other. It's a toy! Yes I love them too, but holy cow! This is getting stupid. Just Like camaro vs mustang people. I think the same way Mark does, having the choice to have either is pretty cool. We should all be happy it isnt the fragile breaking cars from the 80's and super long charge times vs just a few minutes of run time.
This was so good dude. Love it. I don't understand why people so bent out of shape about that stuff. Cracks me up!
Also that Sledge slamming into the Kratons front wheels sideways for sure broke the servo! 👍
Hi Mark, What servo did you end up putting in the Kraton EXB I’m looking for info on my first build. Love your vids. Did you ever change the motor and esc either?
For which one is better comes down to which one puts a bigger smile on your face 😃
It doesn't matter - if one says they prefer the sledge, it is like saying they prefer the kraton since it's a copy of the kraton's main design cues. If they they say they prefer the kraton, it becomes a slap to traxxas since they made a worse kraton.
Funny my son is the same way ,I have like 20 trucks in my garage and he has no interest. It's a different time now I guess. I grew up in the 80s so it was bmx, skateboards and rc cars.
How much run time do you get out of the sledge? On average
Hey man will the front basher bumper fit on the sledge ?
Love to see the family time. Good show my dude.
Great video guys👍
My Kraton EXB is around $900 or so not including the large amounts of parts that have broken and been replaced. And I don’t do big jumps or flips or anything.
Are the sledgehammers heavier than the copperheads?
Good comparison they really dont care at all got to do it agin . Good vid 👌👍yourkids are cool 😎
Great video as always. If you want to compare the Sledge to a Talion, you can borrow mine.
Hey Mark! Thanks for the vids you make, awesome stuff! A bit off-topic here: did you think about reviewing some of Carisma trucks? Not a lot of info on youtube and most of it is kind of old. Not sure it's going to be interesting to a lot of people, but the price seems decent. And I think their Range Rover looks pretty cool. Happy to hear your thoughts!
Carisma makes some good RC’s my friend. I have the Coyote & it crawls as good as much more expensive Crawlers. I just replaced the wheelset.
Where did this math come from? $770 + $200 is north of $1000? Also, $200 for a transmitter and receiver? A TQi system is $130. With fair math, a comparable EXB is $900. With a less expensive servo and an ESC/motor from Jenny’s, the price will be $799, just like the Sledge.
exb kit plus all the stock parts to make it runnable puts it around $802 last I checked on Horizon website.
In Europe the Sledge costs 820 euro’s. An EXB 450, Max 6 ESC 165, 4092 Rocket motor 60, DS servo 30, dumbo rc transmitter/receiver 30. Total 735. Almost have money to spare for a M2C chassis…
Nice vid man, fun with your boys is cool over everything, but can u give me the info on that dewalt drill and the drill bits, I desperately need that for my rcs
What's "better," Pepsi or Coke?
All due respect you dont need a program card to change the punch its all done with the power button on the firma esc
You couldve saved some money if you did your research
Just sayin
hi Mark i’m stuck between which car should I get so I thought because you’re doing a jewel between the two I would watch your video you have two great boys look like they had fun but I’m still nowhere near on deciding whatI need.great video as always I enjoy your channel all the best from the UK👊🏻👊🏻
All these arguments when all it really comes down to is preference... hey mark had a thought will the sledge battery tray fit the super maxx if you lopped off the servo holder??
I think they’re all roughly about the same bent chassis on the new sledge rip two tires the only problem I have not had is the pinion spinning off like it has on some and there’s nothing there to block it from hitting the motor wires and then getting it all that mess I have a Mojave EXB same ramp same situation and had a problem with it yet the other arm at EXB bent it so I guess it’s on how you Land and how are you drive them Problem is I can’t get parts for the sledge until next week
So the consumer wins by having 2 companies trying to make products that are a little better then the other guy. Just means they will be trying to one up each other! I am totally ok with that.
Traxxas fanboy here but I think I'm gonna have to give it to the kraton on cost alone..... I will end up buying the sledge but I feel for somebody that has to save up and make a choice that you're prolly better off just saving the extra 200 bucks and grabbing the Xmaxx with the sledge being 800 bucks that's a little steep but that's just me.
Love the real world side by side review. Nice driven 👍 guys. That was rad
That Truggy style truck is just like short course truck. Almost every brand has that style.
Well…they weren’t kidding when they said all they wanted you to have to replace was the tires.
That's happened to me before when comparing two RC vehicles. One of them breaks a dumb part and the comparison is over quickly 🤣. Good stuff as usual man. Yeah, both trucks are nice. I don't have either and will not be buying anything else. Too many toys! Hehe. Meh Traxxas tires suck TBH.
Oh man...
Pretty good kids, gotta say. Rad vid, I’m a new fan of the chan. I’d give one of my balls to have had a dad that was that into RC. Like that’s an automatic 50k dad points by default. Legendary
Outing them on camera that they don't even like RC lol EMOTIONAL DAMAGE! Savage! The trama on those faces!
That’s cool they closed down are hobby town in Las Vegas 👍👍
That’s why it’s called bashing because it’s the RC’s getting the bashing! I learned from my first fast RC that if there fast there going to break.
How do kids not like rc cars
Are you selling your pre-owned rc?1/8scale.tnx
The one thing I do see wrong and I know you said this in a different way the price on the exb the msrp is right but the motor and esc and other electronics could be done way way cheaper for just the same or better preformance
Haha Evan didn’t have his crocs on 4x4 😂😭 for him not liking rc, dudes quick in the racing!!! 🔥
He probably just dont like bashing :D
@@P.Trick93 you're right! He doesn't like it as much as Ethan!!!!
You got to do this again cause l just bought the EXB 2 days before the sledge dropped. Also why l was mad in last comments lol.
Don’t be mad a kraton exb is amazing. Great basher truggy.
My honest opinion….
It’s like everything today you by in the high level of
motor cycle
Trucks
Cars
Watches extra….
It becomes a PERSONAL ISSUE & CHOICE!
GREAT REVIEW. 💥🕺💥🕺
Yea I'd go with Traxxas 💪 price comparison won 🏆 not to mention you don't have to mess with a Esc lol
It's cool watching an RC tire blow. I blew one on an 8th scale Ofna touring car. It did 360's for ever.
My Kraton 6s is a wheelie monster right out of the box
That was so cute the boys and a true hearted comparison.🤪🤪🤪still unless u have the funds the sledge is the way to go...gunna have to get me one and already have a stupid list of hoppups....so many combos....but still boils down to support for me in the which one to buy
2 blown tires versus nothing broken on the EXB. The blown servo was an old one and not an EXB part. I think it’s fair to say a lot of people will be upgrading the Traxxas tires. Add $100 to the cost.
What a stupid price comparison. The spectrum is a much better esc with more tuning options, the vxl combo is way overpriced for what you get in return. A decent bashing servo costs 50$. And just buy a 2 or 3 channel radio, plenty good radios about 30 or 40$. So it's actually a lot cheaper than the sledge. Traxxas servo is underpowered, esc is a disaster with the lights off dead and the radio is just overpriced for a 2 channel. Definitely need to replace the servo and esc within several months, maybe weeks so the arrma is much cheaper at the end, even with a m2c chassis replacement. I'm also not convinced with the Traxxas chassis but time is gonna tell. Compare the sledge with a Kronos and a kraton. All with the same tires, same electronics. I'm gonna tell you the result right now. 3 total losses for sure 😃
We only have One Hobby Town USA in Indiana now days 🤦🏻♂️
