This movie should be titled " Curse of the Werewolf ",because like in the 1961 film of that title, the werewolf is a progeny ill fated from birth or childhood by the dysfunction of it's parents.
Dude you hit the nail on the head this whole thing could have been avoided if Blake didn't go back home, like bruh there's a reason you left your home why are you going back 😂😂
Im so glad this was a good! I was afraid to have high hopes for this one. Also the first couple of minutes of every vid makes me smile. You have such a smooth communication style with each other. Very caring and elegant while giving professional reviews.
Joseph's "emotional punch" line, inserted in a werewolf story is welcome...I mean, full moon and gore, and silver bullets 😅has been the norm - glad this worked 😉😊
Did any eagle eyed viewers spot some of the Easter eggs? I noticed the 1941 on the moving truck, the gypsy medallion that Blake wore, and his daughter is wearing a red hooded jacket. There are probably more I just didn't spot.
the original Wolfman design was iconic for a reason and can slightly be updated to make it look more feral instead of a fluffy teddy bear lol I don't want a pseudo avant-garde interpretation of the Wolfman. Seems like the director was making this movie for himself, like should I expect a cross between the fly and the weasel from The suicide squad ? American werewolf in Paris wasn't a great movie but the werewolf designs were awesome in that film and If that's the meaning behind this story that's very very silly lol
I am so relieved you guys like this. I'm huge on Christopher Abbott and Leigh Whannell. I'm gonna save the bulk of the review until after I've seen the film tomorrow.
Hey the Benecio Del Toro version was awesome and it’s also about generational trauma. This version I think borrowed themes from Benecio’s version. The Werewolf dad turning the son into a Werewolf. Seems familiar 🤔. I’ll give it a look when it’s released; though the Werewolf design is a bit off putting. Thanks for the good review. I have to say the actor playing the new Wolfman really looks like Lon Chaney Jr which I love and it’s nice that the Wolfman has a close relationship with his daughter. That’s sweet! 😊
I love del Toros wolfman. In this new version when the dad said he wanted to go hunt the beast and then they revealed he was pronounced dead, I immediately thought "they're doing a del toro😮". The wolf that bites him will be his father and they'll have to fight.
Invisible Man and Wolf Man were part of the Dark Cinimatic Universe centered on the Monsters from Universal Studios, but with the failure of The Mummy (2017), Universal is now going to have them released as standalone films. We’ll be getting more from the Monster Vault, film titles may change. Renfield film is their Dracula film. Abigail is part of their line up. Now since it’s been a long time, a new cast in a thriller Mummy film or Scorpion King would be fun. Invisible Woman, Frankenstein, etc, might be releases along with other projects.
I was already sad after hearing about David Lynch's passing, and then I had to face Wolfman' s ending. I confess I cried. This was a minimalistic version of the monster, not a perfect movie, but one packing an emotional punch and a welcome sense of mystery and wonder.
I was left with more questions than answers. In the beginning, there was a dog whistle, which made the first wolfman run off. How they never went back to that, smh.
She wasn’t changing the battery, she was just jump starting the car with a good battery the same way you would normally do it hooked up to someone else’s car with jumper cables
it seems like a lot of people don't like monster movies "that aren't really about the monster", but those are my favourite (and the metaphor is what monster movies were always about)
I love the OG Wolfman film... literally tragic ... not a choice but something that happens to him... there have been so many cheesy films ....(BUT I LOVE THE GINGERSNAPS FILMS (primal so so good) ... loved this review ... you made me want to check this film out. Grazie!
Happy to hear a good review on this one. I feel bad for Julia Garner after she secured the Madonna biopic which was ultimately canceled! Will you two be watching Companion?
The movie was less scary and actiony horror, like you would expect from a werewolf movie, It was more emotional and feeling bad for the characters. I don't think the dad was trying hurt them at the end, he just became a wolf trying to watch out for his family even as a monster. The detail of him not being able to understand was a great detail, ive never seen that done in a werewolf movie. It was definitely interesting take on werewolf with all the transformation stuff like the not understanding speech and having the sound increased like the spider crawling sounding like something huge on roof.
Just saw it. The visuals and cinematography were great but it just felt a bit lacking when it was over. I wanted more but it wasn’t bad just not great imo
Am I crazy or did you review another similiar movie with a father transforming or changing before ( and not the one you mentioned in the beginning ) ??
Unfortunately I didnt care for the wife’s or daughter’s performance. Just visually the wife looked soooo young I could’ve believed she was his gen z older daughter and the little girl just didn’t ever seem scared enough for me. I think the boy from babadook did a better job at showing a child seeing their parent become a monster
Sorry love your reviews but people told me who where victim and witness of alcohol abuse not fan of it been to many funerals all thanks to alcohol drunk drivers and coworkers told me bad life of alcohol abuse emotional and physical abuse that was only part I didn’t like in video I wouldn’t know I been drinking sorry
The "O" above his head like a halo has Joseph looking all Saintly 😂
😂❤
lol literally 😂
A reviewer said “this movie is about inherited trauma” and that was when I knew who the werewolf was

13:44 “I don’t know.. I had been drinking.” 😂❤
Have the appreciation Joseph's honesty on that one lol

Fish Jelly's intro song is iconic, love it here
I really liked how the story switches in and out of his perspective, especially when he stops being able to understand human speech.
That’s wild.
I think the movie should have done it primarily from his perspective.
This was one of my favorite parts of the movie.
An American Werewolf in London STILL holds up. 🐺❤
Absolutely. And "Silver Bullet" is underrated as hell.
Yes it does
Yes!! I was hoping for this review! I clicked so fast haha ❤
Joseph's "emotional punch" line, inserted in a werewolf story is welcome...I mean, full moon and gore, and silver bullets 😅has been the norm - glad this worked 😉😊
Oh the “Ginger Snaps” theory 🤯
"So she kills him" 😂😂😂
That synopsis was so quick, like 45 seconds to explain the whole movie. Hilarious, love you guys
I knew The Professors would have a review!!!
Did any eagle eyed viewers spot some of the Easter eggs? I noticed the 1941 on the moving truck, the gypsy medallion that Blake wore, and his daughter is wearing a red hooded jacket. There are probably more I just didn't spot.
The "Little House on the Prairie" reference was too precious Nick. LOVE IT!
I liked this movie more than I thought I would. I appreciated the simpler story, and both the sound and the visuals were great.
You know the mean gays on tiktok? In the nicest way ever, yall remind me of them
It really was a good time..which means I never once glanced at my watch. It was both sad and scary..and I'm happy I went to see it!

You found the werewolves in "American werewolf in Paris" good? How? They looked more like apes or rats!
I got emotional as well…but I too had been drinking 😂 so I feel you Joseph
Benicio Del Toro's version wasn't bad at all.
Agreed. It could have been better but it was a pretty decent take.
I am so relieved you guys like this. I'm huge on Christopher Abbott and Leigh Whannell. I'm gonna save the bulk of the review until after I've seen the film tomorrow.
It is being hammered online get that shield
@@CynicallyObnoxious I've seen the mixed reviews. Their criticisms don't move me.
Abbott kills it in this movie!
Benecio Del Toro The Wolfman was great.
that bone structure will get them every time
Yalll back! I missed yall!

That no trespassing sign is hilarious
Nick's advice that the past will sink you you can't go home I just learned that lesson really hard a week ago so how apropos thank you Nick
I enjoyed "The Invisible Man," so I'll check this out. Leigh Whannell makes well-made, entertaining popcorn flicks.
Every time you say "Derek," my mind flashes to Derek on The Good Place. "Maximum Derek!"
I think you need to give it another watch when you are sober. I saw it and afterwards wished I had been drinking first. LOL

Thank you for the review can’t wait to see it! I agree you really should see Upgrade it’s fun
If you guys say it’s worth it, I feel better. I liked all his movies so far. Also, Rip David Lynch 😢
She wasn’t changing the battery, she was just jump starting the car with a good battery the same way you would normally do it hooked up to someone else’s car with jumper cables
Wolfman 2010 is still 🔥
I found it funny that Julia’s name in this movie was Charlotte 😂😂😂
#Ozark
Upgrade was quite fun❣️
Honey I can tell by Joseph face he didn't care for this movie. He got his crunchy face on 😅
Fingers crossed 🤞 Hoping it’s not _Cringey!_
I don't think I'll see this because scary. I am very glad it's good because I'm always rooting for Julia Garner!
I just have to disagree with them on thing
I love the 2010 Wolf Man remake it is such an underrated movie but I think it's awesome
I'm not sure I believe the middling reviews, I'm looking forward to giving this a go
it seems like a lot of people don't like monster movies "that aren't really about the monster", but those are my favourite (and the metaphor is what monster movies were always about)

2009 Wolfman is the best of all.
Fine... I'll go watch it now since you two liked 😂😛
Happy to hear a good review on this one. I feel bad for Julia Garner after she secured the Madonna biopic which was ultimately canceled! Will you two be watching Companion?
Yes
Oh no! What a bummer. I was looking forward to seeing it.
Been a while since I've seen a movie that was exactly like the trailer.
I am soo happy this is good

@fishjellyfilmreviews omg yes this is it! I thought I was having deja vu or something because the actors even look alike 😆
I enjoy this and the 2010 remake
1:24 very concise
Christopher:) has beautiful eyes. He's adorable.

I watched this today in IMAX! 3 out of 5 slashers 🔪🔪🔪.
What's wrong wiff daddy?
Sorry I've seen the trailer too many times.
The story was good.. and that's it lol
Saw it this afternoon best Blumhouse movie in a while
Yall have a little bit of age blindness when it comes to these child actors...lol😂
It's true.
Can't wait . Love Werewolf Movies . Jack Nicholson, Wolf . The Howling is my favorite, but not the twenty sequels that followed 😔
Oh they're about to roast this movie 😂
😬
Mediocre reviews on RT 🤷🏻♂️
so?
If twilight made a werewolf movie this would be it.. Other than an odd Jolt for the most part quite predictable. So for me not impressed.
It will be interesting to watch this without her using that hillbilly accent.
I didn’t really like this but I appreciate your review, thanks !
