Updated Status: I sent in an Email with the video and my music audition meet the requirements. However, with this being Bluecoats they wanted to see more visual stuff. So they sent me a list of visual stuff due by the end of the week. (This was a couple weeks ago). I didn't finish the audition because I was just to busy and couldn't find time to do the visual audition. (I had solo and Ensemble and College auditions that week). Thanks for Watching! PS: I'm still looking for world class corps to march on trumpet (dosen't matter what part). I tried Crown but since I don't have any "world class" experience they wouldn't let me audition. (Crown is my dream corps) I'm currently looking at a hole at Academy. If you know any world class corps with a trumpet holes, please comment!
Oakey the Sloth Keep trying. However, I'd be worried that you said Crown "wouldn't let you audition since you didn't have World Class experience." I marched Crown without any WC experience, and I know plenty of people who did. Don't sell yourself short, but also don't have the possible side effect of scaring people off from auditioning just because they don't have experience. Keep up the work, and you'll March wherever you want.
Jerry Goodnight I'm not trying to sell myself short. They said they would love to see me audition there next November and I plan too. They just said they wanted somebody with World experience to fill the hole. This was due to how late it was in the season. If they would have said send in a video for consideration, I would have started practicing immediately.
Ryan Currently nothing. My college marching band decided to perform in the St. Paddy’s day parade in Dublin, Ireland. I spent all my money on that. I plan on just working and start saving again for 2019 and I would like to march and age-out at Scouts.
Ryan I did originally and I’m still huge fan of crown. But one this I have learned is Drum Corps isn’t always about the score or medal it’s about the experience and people you meet. One of the best decisions I have made in college was joining a music fraternity (Phi Mu Alpha). I love my brothers and the atmosphere it creates. I think scouts is just an awesome organization with the amount of brotherhood, the alumni, and history of lead trumpets and lead trumpet playing. All things I really care about in drum corps I see more in Scouts than in Crown and that’s why I wanna march there and age out there more than anything!
C0nn0r'z Rekorder Rodeo 7c confines you to a smaller portion of your lip muscles, and I personally find that it affects range and sound quality, so get a bigger mouthpiece like a 5c or 3c. However, don't go too big, and also know that switching mouthpieces takes adjusting, so your ability to play well may suffer until you adjust.
that was great! you will make it for sure my dude. even though i never experienced in drum corp, but for someone as talented as you, im pretty sure you got the heart and talent of the Bluecoats
Oakey the Sloth Hell, we all have dreams, and I hope to March with the Bluecoats someday too. So I know it can be hard with the trumpet sometimes. And you really remind me of Ben Gunnarson with technique and style. You'll make it!
Good range! but i think you need to work on your fundamentals a bit more, long tones, slurs, flexibility, etc. Your tone sounds a bit uncertain and unstable. ( No offense intended!)
Kurt Tumbagahan I notice my tone sounds like that too in the video. I think it's the IPad. It a older gen Ipad and it's not mine, it was my friends and it didn't have much storage so it couldn't record in higher quality. Also, pointed straight to the mic which is bad. In real life my tone is more resonate. Thanks for watching.
It looks that way, but if any free spots open up, relatively close by then maybe I march. But Im just going to save up and march scouts or crown next year.
Yooo Gavin it's the guy from Region jazz. The 1st chair black guy lol nice video audition bro. You'll be in a lead spot in no time. I'm gonna be auditioning for Crossmen next year and since my range has developed quite a bit I might go for a lead spot. Anyways cheers and hope to see you marching soon!
Ben Morgan I said in the video. I marched Guardians on lead Trumpet in 2015-2016. However, I've made Blue Knights but couldn't afford to fly out in 2016. But since then, I got a job. Thanks for Watchcing!

Vangaven Robles Thank you that means so much! And my music audition qualified; however, with this being Bluecoats they wanted to see me do more visual stuff so they sent me a long list of visual exercises to perform and send into them in like less then a week. But the week they did I had college auditions and solo and ensemble and couldn't record the video. It's past due and the probably already filled the spot. I'm just waiting right now for any world class corps to have a lead trumpet hole open. Thanks for watching!

Ye.. He needs higher toes.. I can barely see the bottom of his shoe while the camera is on the ground... Then again, those are not the right shoes for marching anyways.
Something for next year- ur tone and sound is so great and resonate while ur still!! However during the box drill ur tone quality and resonance kind of dropped a bit. it wasn't much but it was enough to be noticeable. Good luck in the 2018 season! I hope this helps!
well if you really want a pretty good chance of marching with a corp, try pacific crest. They are from Diamond Bar, California. The only downside is that they usually don't place very high but i can be a steppimg stone to a better corp.

Joseph Cannaday 5c and 3c are smaller...
Check rhythm on the Ropartz excerpt.

What mouthpiece are you using
Denis Wick 1 and 1/2 C Heavytop, but I will probably change soon.
Yeah, DCI lead trumpets use a 1 1/2 C not mega tone, but instead single tone.
Anthony Alvarado It's not wedged it's just a megatone for Denis Wick.
Yeah I corrected myself my apologies.
You sound great though man. As a trumpet player in college, I give you the advice to practice as much as you can, it will pay off when you get there.
I see u playing the jazz all region pieces lol
You will make it I bet! Good job
very well played were u accepted?

Hope you weren't affected by Harvey.
I wish I would have known this seems to be way too easy for a professional marching group!
Your marching technique could use some work
Ye.. He needs higher toes.. I can barely see the bottom of his shoe while the camera is on the ground... Then again, those are not the right shoes for marching anyways.
