Compute a total score in SPSS

Compute a new variable which is the total score of 2 or more variables using SPSS. This technique is often used to reduce the number of variables from a questionnaire.

I wanted to ask if you also can compute a sumscore if you have different labels for the variables? Like ones you have 0, 1 and the other variable has 0 to 4, and a nother 0 to 6?

I have performed this for several time but when i press ok after all process a statement appears: " the numericc argument required for the function specified was not supplied" what does that mean plz help meto understand this , i m very tens about my research thesis

Put a zero in any one of the variables in the middle and you get a zero at the end. SPSS...

SPSS doesnt have an option to solve top to down, LOL
