I say this every time someone reacts to this movie: I can deeply relate to Riggs in this movie. Throughout the franchise, really.... but we'll get to that later on. 15:38 - "How do you get it in the water?" - The boat is on a trailer. You tow it to a boat ramp, which is a place where the road goes right down to the water, back the trailer into the water until the boat floats, push it off the trailer, then drive the trailer out of the water. One person then takes the trailer away while another person drives the boat to a marina or wherever it's going to be anchored. When it's time to take the boat out of the water, you reverse the process. At least that's what my grandfather used to do with his speedboat, although with a boat the size of the one in this movie, he might need professional help to get it in the water.
YES! This is definitely one of those series where EVERY entry is fantastic...and you can feel the love and bonding of the characters grow. You will NOT be disappointed.
"Is that how it works?" Yes, it's exactly how it works (AFAIK for most grenades, notable exception being WWII German potato-mashers and the *really* old stuff). The triggering handle is spring-loaded. As long as you don't let it spring up far enough to light the fuse, it's basically safe. The pin is there just to keep the handle/trigger locked in safe position. You grab the grenade so that you're pressing the handle down. That way only as it leaves your hand as you throw it, it starts the fuse. Of course, in movies, etc., they let it "cook" before throwing, but AFAIK it doesn't make much difference in practice except that the thrower is taking an unnecessary risk there. The fuses are made for specific burning time until the detonation, but just like with fireworks they might burn faster than intended (though they're obviously more reliable). In that case you want them flying in the air and not sitting in your hand.
A boat like Roger's is held onto the trailer it's on by a winch and hook at the front. To get it to the water you tow the trailer to a boat ramp, which is just a (usually) paved ramp of road that gradually goes down into the water. The vehicle towing the boat drives backwards, slowly lowering the trailer back so the boat is into the water (but not so far that the towing vehicle is). Then the winch is unwound so the boat leaves its trailer and floats on the water by itself. Someone then gets in the boat to take care of it while another drives the vehicle and now empty trailer away.
I scrolled a bit, and after seeing no one answered your question. People transport boats across land in a trailer, which has supports for the boat on the bottom. To get the boat in the water, they back the trailer down a boat ramp(which is a gradual decline into water), which the water will eventually cause the boat to float off of the trailer.
Fun Fact: The man who wants to jump off the building is actually Mel’s stunt double. Another fun fact: When they jump together, you can see the prop handcuffs break, so they ended up holding hands as the jump.

A grenade has a sort of latch that keeps the grenade from arming. When you remove the pin that latch is spring loaded and will release on it's own when you let go of it. So yes, if you have not let go then you can still put the pin back and the grenade will not arm.

As always, great reaction. I say, watch the sequels too. IMO Lethal Weapon is one of the few occurrences where the sequels (at least 2. + 3.) is even better than the first movie.
Definitely check out Lethal Weaon 2; it is my favorite of all four films. All of the Lethal Weapon films were directed by the late Richard Donner, who also directed The Goonies, 1978's Superman: The Movie, Scrooged and The Omen(the original from 1976.
Glad you enjoyed this one, Blue. There are 4 total, but the second one is my favorite. It introduces Joe Pesci's character and has the best soundtrack of all of them. On a different note, I have to say you looked particularly stunning tonight. Your smile must be contributing to global warming! See ya for Lethal Weapon 2!✌❤
The next three films are worth watching. Other comedic duos to watch are Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jim Belushi in Red Heat, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell in Tango and Cash, Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the Bad Boys trilogy and Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan in the Rush Hour trilogy
Welcome to one of best buddy cop action films and franchises of all time. Yes, I also consider it to be a Christmas film. :) I hope you watch the remaining three films in the series. Each builds on and continues their story. Pending who you ask, any of them could be considered the best in the series. For myself, I have a hard time picking between films 2 and 3. Great reaction.
It's so nice to see someone not even born back in the eighties loving this movie! There's a bunch of old eighties comedy/action movies you might like! I'm sure everyone told you about Die Hard, Terminator, and so on. But how about Foul Play with Goldie Hawn? Well that might be a seventies movie, but still. And Sugarland Express? And Midnight Run with Robert DeNiro? And of course, Silver Streak with Gene Wilder! Oh that's the seventies again. He is very good in Young Frankenstein as well. Oh, and don't forget to check out Body Double, by director Brian De Palma! That one is seriously good! And also Into The Night, with Michelle Pfeiffer and Jeff Goldblum, that one is a classic! Edit: Tequila Sunrise has both Mel Gibson and Michelle Pfeiffer, and it's brilliant! How could I forget that one? And Michelle is great in The Fabulous Baker Boys, but that is a different kind of movie. Still a classic, need to watch!
When I was young 30+ year old movies were noticeably old in every way. That didn't make them easy to watch. Movies like this are perma fresh. There may be superficial things like hairstyles, car models, technology that stands out but the overall quality is far superior and the film looks like it could've been released yesterday.
Yes, it's possible to put the pin back into a grenade as long as you are holding the spoon down. Once you take your thumb off the spoon Flys off giving you 3 seconds to throw it before it explodes. Unlike Die Hard 2 where all those grenades get lobbed into the cockpit where McClane is, giving him all the time in the world to get into the seat and eject before they explode.
I grew up in San Pedro California. Its around the cliffs along the coast of L.A. Hollywood has been making movies and tv shows in the San Pedro/Long Beach area for decades. There is a bridge that connects Pedro to Long Beach called the Vincent Thomas bridge. Google it. Its been used in A LOT of films and shows. One day in 2012, Tony Scott, director of many hit movies made the news for the last time. Sadly, he jumped from the bridge taking his own life. RIP Tony Scott.
There is a total of 4. You should watch all 4. Throughout the series there is character development and growth with a nice conclusion in 4. Their story is not complete until you have seen all 4.
Awesome reaction, Blue! And perfect timing to watch Lethal Weapon, because I have always considered it a Christmas flick. We saw how you enjoyed watching LW and, yes, I would recommend viewing all four. LW 1 will always be my favorite because we get to know the characters, especially Riggs, and watch them develop into a trusting family relationship. So I'm looking forward to your reactions to the rest of the Lethal Weapon franchise. Rock on Blue! 💙🤘
Looks like Mel Gibson is directing Lethal Weapon 5. Richard Donner directed all of the others and passed at 91, asking Mel Gibson to take over for him.
What a talented and versatile director Richard Donner was (also directing The Omen and the first Superman movie with Christopher Reeve.) And of course many other directing credits.
This is one of my favorite movie franchises. The first one is the 'darkest' but the rest are lighter and action packed. By the time you get to the last one, you will see the bond that this cast and crew developed with a pay off in the end credits. Plus, Rene Russo is a bad ass female role model that gives Mel a run for his money. Jackie Swansen (Amanda Hunsaker) who kills herself in the beginning, actually performed the stunt herself. Looking down, the street and the tops of the cars were actually a life sized painting on an air bag that she fell into. And, I am pretty sure that the often copied line 'I'm too old for this shit.' originated with the Lethal Weapon movies. Mr. Joshua was played by Gary Busey, who was also in POINT BREAK (1991) with Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. It is one of the best action films ever made with some seriously intense scenes beautifully filmed, and done with real stunt men and no CGI. I highly recommend it. Mel wrote, directed, and produced a movie in 2006, called APOCALYPTO, about the fall of the Mayan empire. It was filmed in Mexico with a cast of mostly locals with Mayan ancestry. Some of the actors in the movie had never even seen a movie before let alone speak English. It is action packed, visually stunning, with great characters and was nominated for and won many awards. Watch it through and then watch it again with Mel's commentary about filming it. It's very interesting.
In 2021, the Australian Council on Smoking and Health - a coalition of peak non- government health organisations - called for parties in the Western Australian state election to commit to ending tobacco sales by 2030. In 2012 the Tasmanian parliament discussed ending tobacco sales to anyone born after the year 2000, with a parliamentary committee finding no “significant legal impediment” to the proposal.
Great reaction Trixie. Please watch the other 3 films in order. You grow to love the characters and their relationships, you honestly become part of the family. Subscribed. :)
In the opening scene, the girl wasn't trying to kill herself. She was under the influence of the drugs she was taking, and she just felt that she was able to fly. If she would have been aware, she would have known that was impossible when jumping from a high-rise apartment.
The kid pointing out the tattoo always stands out to me. "Exactly like that?" "Mmhmm it had a knife even" That's all Riggs needs to hear. It could've been anything generally similar according to a 6 yr olds interpretation of 'exactly'. It works though, keeps the movie moving.
Hey Blue! Glad you liked it! 👍 I didn't know you took capoeira! 😃 But yeah, only a little of it was used in the final fight scene, and the rollout while shooting at the drug bust scene, in the beginning. Still, good eye in noticing the credit! 😃 Keep on keeping on, pretty girl!!
“What was I thinking, I should’ve checked the floor for eggs” “It’s a brown, sticky… ow… a brown, roast like substance” “If you think I’m eating the worlds lousiest Christmas turkey by myself, you’re crazy” I thinks it’s a safe bet he’s not too worried about not eating the breakfast Trish made 😂
*Yea, I've always wondered why this movie never had the "Action Movie vs Christmas Movie" debate like Die Hard has.* *Oh yea! and don't forget, when you get to "Lethal Weapon 3". there's a post credits scene.*
Lethal Weapon could have happened at any time, with no changes. In Die Hard, the only reason Bruce Willis is in LA is because of his wife's company christmas party. The plot is dependent on it being Christmas.
@@Hexon66 their’s was a terrible argument, McClane could’ve been in LA for any number of reasons (one of his children’s birthday, for example)… but the biggest reason why it HAS to be Christmas for the plot of Die Hard to work: Nakatomi Tower has $600m in its vault and any other night of the year would be well guarded… Takagi has given all but 2 guards the night off, making it easy pickings for Hans’s team to take over the tower unopposed (not accounting for McClane of course). Lethal Weapon could indeed happen at any time of year: it’s Murtaugh’s birthday, so the “present” at the end could be a birthday present. It could be Thanksgiving and that’s why they’re having “the worlds lousiest turkey”. The point is, it being Christmas or not doesn’t have any bearing on the plot, whereas it being Christmas is the key element to Die Hard’s plot. But the argument can go on for eternity, nothing changes the fact both are great movies, Christmas or not.
I've known and loved this movie ever since 1987 but never spotted the capoeira credit! Well done. According to imdb, the director brought in a couple of martial arts experts, among whom "Cedric Adams [...] thought the best possible way to show just how lethal Riggs really is - is to show his mastery of a form of martial arts never before seen on-screen. Adams taught the actors the movements of Capoeira." But I agree with you, those moves didn't look much like capoeira lol.
I agree with everyone who says watch the rest of the series. The second is even better than the first. Love these movies and your reactions. 🙂 Hope you're doing well and staying smiling! 🙂
2:26 indeed…society has convinced itself that if you don’t feel happy around this time of year, then there must be something wrong, and that you should spend time with your family, and loved ones…but if you don’t have that, then again, the perception is that there is something wrong with you, and that you should “just choose to be happy”…go figure that’s difficult when you don’t have the things in your life that society tells you are “normal means to gain happiness” Those who take their own lives around this time of year, tend to already feel down, sad, and unloved…the amplification of this around this time of year can be especially tough on many and they can’t take the perceived extra weight. To anyone who reads this, if you are feeling this way in your life, always remember, as hard as it can be to see, YOU control your own happiness, there is no darkness without the light, and you live your own life, the judgements of others SHOULDNT make any difference. ❤❤
I smile when Trixy reacts to hearing the title spoken in the movie - I thought I was the only one who gets a little pleased when the title of the movie is mentioned in the dialogue, giving an otherwise (potentially) ambiguous title more context and meaning.

Now you are obligated to watch the next 3. You will fall in love with the characters and story. None of the actors get switched out. You will not regret it.
part 2 is the best one i think. you'll learn more detail on what happened to his wife too etc.
As always, great reaction. I say, watch the sequels too. IMO Lethal Weapon is one of the few occurrences where the sequels (at least 2. + 3.) is even better than the first movie.
I saw this movie in High School. Now, 35 years later, I can officially say "I'm too old for this shit."
You know, you look younger WITH the beard.
One of the only film series that gets better with each movie. Please watch the rest you'll love them
No, 4 is definitly a weaker movie than 2 or 1.
By far.
Definitely check out Lethal Weaon 2; it is my favorite of all four films. All of the Lethal Weapon films were directed by the late Richard Donner, who also directed The Goonies, 1978's Superman: The Movie, Scrooged and The Omen(the original from 1976.
One of my favorite Christmas movies. Die Hard is another great Christmas movie.
All four _Lethal Weapon_ films are masterpieces, it is very difficult to select which one is the best.
There's four all up, unlike most movies franchises, they're all worth a look.
Movie is a classic. the sequels are also great, Lethal Weapon 2 and 3 are the best.
I hope you watch the remaining three films in the series.
Lethal weapon 2 & 3 are a must see
4 also.... for the full charackter arc
It's great seeing a new generation enjoy this awesome movie 😊
Yes, we are finally gonna see your reaction to Lethal Weapon. The other 3 are worth watching, and please watch and react to rush hour 2 & 3.
They Getz (“you get it?”) better with each instalment
After this and the second, you're ready for the spoof (comedy) --- National Lampoon's "Loaded Weapon" ..
“I’m getting too old for this sh#t!”
Thank you for this reaction Trixy!! The original Lethal weapon is one of my favorite Christmas movies!
Classic number 3 is my favourite
I grew up in San Pedro California. Its around the cliffs along the coast of L.A. Hollywood has been making movies and tv shows in the San Pedro/Long Beach area for decades. There is a bridge that connects Pedro to Long Beach called the Vincent Thomas bridge. Google it. Its been used in A LOT of films and shows. One day in 2012, Tony Scott, director of many hit movies made the news for the last time. Sadly, he jumped from the bridge taking his own life. RIP Tony Scott.
Have to watch all 4 movies they only get better you won’t be disappointed
Oh this IS Lethal Weapon 1 .... I thought you started with number 3 because of the thumbnail. 😂
Definitely should watch all 4. The 4th is still decent, but it also has Jet Li in it, who is amazing.
Hi Trixy, this is a good selection. It's a fun movie about Christmas, dogs, girls, boats and policemen.
There is a total of 4. You should watch all 4. Throughout the series there is character development and growth with a nice conclusion in 4. Their story is not complete until you have seen all 4.
YOU HAVE NOW STARTED 1 OF THE HOLY TRINITY OF 80's COP MOVIES!!
LEATHAL WEAPON
DIE HARD
BEVERLY HILLS COP
police academy... well 1-3 at least
Omg you have to watch all 4 movies! They are so good!
I'll jump on the bandwagon and strongly suggest you watch the rest of the franchise.
This series are 4 movies 🍿! All of them awesome!
Or she was pushed.
I doubt that though. I'm pretty sure she was alone.
Besides, I was told things like these tend to happen when intoxicated.
@@ronfehr7899 It's a line from the movie.
@@gregsteele806 Oh
All 4 Lethal Weapon are great!
The kid pointing out the tattoo always stands out to me.
"Exactly like that?"
"Mmhmm it had a knife even"
That's all Riggs needs to hear. It could've been anything generally similar according to a 6 yr olds interpretation of 'exactly'.
It works though, keeps the movie moving.
That high school yearbook… I went there. Class 1994.
Hey Blue!
Glad you liked it! 👍
I didn't know you took capoeira! 😃
But yeah, only a little of it was used in the final fight scene, and the rollout while shooting at the drug bust scene, in the beginning.
Still, good eye in noticing the credit! 😃
Keep on keeping on, pretty girl!!
Who leaves without eating breakfast when the mom just finished cooking eggs and bacon for everyone??? That's insane! lol
someone who knows, his wife can´t cook at all..... he did not love her for her cooking...
“What was I thinking, I should’ve checked the floor for eggs”
“It’s a brown, sticky… ow… a brown, roast like substance”
“If you think I’m eating the worlds lousiest Christmas turkey by myself, you’re crazy”
I thinks it’s a safe bet he’s not too worried about not eating the breakfast Trish made 😂
Lethal Weapon 2 is even better ;)
Gibson was great in Year of Living Dangerously with Sigourney Weaver, which Peter Lynch Directed as well as Master and Commander
*Yea, I've always wondered why this movie never had the "Action Movie vs Christmas Movie" debate like Die Hard has.*
*Oh yea! and don't forget, when you get to "Lethal Weapon 3". there's a post credits scene.*
Lethal Weapon could have happened at any time, with no changes. In Die Hard, the only reason Bruce Willis is in LA is because of his wife's company christmas party. The plot is dependent on it being Christmas.
@@SlashmanSG *The opening and end credit songs are both Christmas songs.* 🎄
@@SlashmanSG That may be the single dumbest defense of the Xmas movie argument. But hey, accept all superlatives.
She reminds me Michelle from The Homies reaction channel. Such a wife material.
Greetings from Finland!!! Yes you should definitely check out rest of this franchise!!! One of the best I've seen!!! "I'll be back" 😎
I've known and loved this movie ever since 1987 but never spotted the capoeira credit!
Hope you're doing well and staying smiling! 🙂
In the minute 11:37 that was a cell phone in the first part of the 80s, it was the size of a little briefcase.
Well, now you can watch National Lampoon's "Loaded Weapon" .. :)
this is a Christmas movie!
Second one was really a good connection.
2:26 indeed…society has convinced itself that if you don’t feel happy around this time of year, then there must be something wrong, and that you should spend time with your family, and loved ones…but if you don’t have that, then again, the perception is that there is something wrong with you, and that you should “just choose to be happy”…go figure that’s difficult when you don’t have the things in your life that society tells you are “normal means to gain happiness”
Those who take their own lives around this time of year, tend to already feel down, sad, and unloved…the amplification of this around this time of year can be especially tough on many and they can’t take the perceived extra weight.
This seems to have largely been an 80's thing.
Character says the title: “Roll credits”
Great reaction. Interactive without taking away from the movie.
and under his fur the dog is completely naked too!
He was not defending them! He was saying there is No Way Out of it for him
24:00 The villains are well organized and they have the resources to do exactly as police detectives do such as following target cars and putting a 24/7 eye on potential witnesses.
While this is fresh on your mind, watch the spoof of this movie (and others) called Loaded Weapon.
Lethal weapon is my favorite movie of all time
Definitely watch all 4
