Just rewatching Trixie's reaction to this film for the 3rd time and reading some comments. You might be interested to know that the Queen song, "All Dead, All Dead" is about Brian May's child hood pet cat who had passed away. Its a sweet song. Almost similar to The Beatles' song, "Martha My Dear" which is about Paul McCartney's sheep dog.
Only just discovered your channel. This was a fun ride to the asteroid - made it all seem new again. My buddy and I went to see this in the theatre, when it first came out, when I was in my early 20s. We went in all hyped to see a space action flick. Near the end, I remember us saying this about it. "This movie has Bruce Willis, space ships, world destruction, asteroids, machine guns and nukes. SO WHY THE HELL ARE WE CRYING?!!!" "We're not crying...it's just allergies. We're allergic to Bruce Willis emotional scenes...God damn it." My Dad said he liked this movie because it was a great depiction of "Heroism without hubris."
A recent NASA mission made this movie obsolete. Recently we sent a spacecraft to make it crash into an asteroid like 10 million miles away and it changed its trajectory. I remember seeing this in the cinema in 1998 when I was 10 years old and the ending made me cry a lot 😢. It's still so emotional to me with the great acting and music 😭. Definitely one of my favorite movies😄 and once again amazing reaction Blue 💙!
Good morning, Blue! There were actually TWO movies along this same storyline that came out around the same time. The other one is "Deep Impact". I saw that one first, because I'm not really a Bruce Willis fan. However, after seeing Armageddon, I actually enjoyed his performance in this movie. Both are worth watching, although they differ in tone and story slightly. Also, you can't go wrong with Morgan Freeman as President of the US in a movie. 18:16 - Thanks, Blue.... My mother ran out on me, too. Right after my father died. To be fair, she really didn't have any real "mothering instincts", so it WAS for the better. But you saying this, given how I've turned out (never been arrested in my 55 years on this Earth) kinda hit home. Especially when I think of how my sister turned out (she has a heart of gold, if I'm honest).... this woman literally abandoned all of us (I have an older brother by her, as well). Despite all of the adversity we have all faced, we turned out to be good people. Maybe not "angels", but at the very least, we are decent human beings. And to me, that's enough. Our mother literally dropped us all off to grandparents (my brother and sister to our mother's adoptive parents, and me to my father's mother), and straight up walked away to go live her own life. So, yeah.... that's my reality.
This is the most EPIC movie ever. It’s the perfect combination of everything. I died laughing when you said you’d volunteer to detonate the weapon if you were a prostitute. I’m still laughing!! Deep Impact was a similar movie but it doesn’t even hold a candle to Armageddon.
Rumours that I've heard that I take with a pretty big spoonful of salt, but I like to repeat anyway: NASA supposedly shows this movie to trainees just so they can count all the hundreds of scientific inaccuracies in it. Bruce Willis supposedly asked Michael Bay: Why do you have to train oil drillers to be astronauts? Wouldn't it be better to train astronauts to be oil drillers? Michael Bay: STFU.
I was an electronic technician on off shore drilling rigs. A really good movie you should watch is Deepwater Horizon starring Mark Wahlberg as the rig ET. It's a true story and shows a lot about how a drilling rig works. My son was on one of the boats that went to rescue.
We named our only daughter Grace because of this movie. She even has dark hair and fair skin and looks very similar to Liv Tyler (I’m Asian and my wife is white). Even though she is almost 7 now, I still call her “baby Gracie”. This movie came out when I was in High School, and watching movies just isn’t like how it used to be. This was such a big movie when it came out and I’ve seen it so many times now. Great reaction.
It is not only a good action movie but very very emotional, many iconic scenes that will get you down, pump you up or just flat out make you cry just like you did several times, dear Blue. Great reaction 😊👍👌👏
36:09 "Why didn't they travel to a less iron place? They had the time." Maybe. But they had no way to travel. Sure, the Armadillo could travel. But it can carry 1 drill and a few feet of pipe. The rest of what they need is on the ship. What you don't see here is them pulling down tons of pipe and multiple drill heads from the cargo hold on their ship. Also, the ship couldn't just fly to a better spot, mainly because it's not a helicopter. The only way for it to fly is hundreds of miles an hour and you saw what happened the first time they tried that. Far too risky. So their only choice was to drill where they landed and hope for the best.
I’ve watched quite a few of your reactions now, and I mostly just like watching these reaction videos to help with memory issues I have as well as relive through someone else’s experience watching a movie I love. I truly believe this was my favorite reaction of yours to date. Your authentic laughter and crying over this classic movie was truly enjoyable emotionally.
Peel Off, in this case means move off course. To fly somewhere else. Find another flight path. But because they need to be very specific about where they land, they can't "just find another path." They can't just drill anywhere they choose. Each ship has a specific landing spot that needs to be exact. Like Rockhound said they landed on a very thick deposit of iron; which is exceedingly difficult to drill through and will take more time than they have.
The primary problem I have with this movie is the going 11 G's. Basically G force is the weight of earths gravity. if you weigh 200 pounds you'd literally have 2200 pounds of weight on top of you. You wouldn't be able to move, you wouldn't be able to breathe. You damn sure wouldn't be able to talk. If your body managed to survive it, then it would definitely be in massive pain.
True crazy story: i've seen this movie at a summer night in an open air cinema and i saw the International Space Station flying over us (I checked after it was really it) and... a falling star too.
While this one was more popular, I always kind of liked “Deep Impact” a little better. You should give it a watch. Same basic meteor ending the Earth story, but less action movie and more a look at the impact on humanity facing their imminent extinction together through the stories of the folks on the planet.
You can't give the crazy guy the responsibility, he just said they all should stay and die. Harry is the only one responsible to get the job done, he has to save his daughter. He has a reason to get it done no matter what
When you're younger, you relate to Harry as your dad sacrificing himself. As you get older, you relate to Harry because why wouldn't you sacrifice yourself to save your kid? When Liv says "Daddy?" when they speak at the end, oh man, instant rush of tears.
The science is shaky on most things, but the verbal description of the asteroid strike that wiped out the dinosaurs is fairly on point. "Only" six miles wide and, on arrival, it would have been travelling ten times faster than a rifle bullet. When this rock hit atmosphere, it wouldn't merely push air out of the way, the air would very literally IGNITE.
You are just as sweet as cotton candy. I didn't expect that. I didn't cry in the theatre, but I did cry later on a re-watch. I had my girl with me at the time. Guys are not allowed to cry in a theatre unless they are unescorted. But, eventually there were tears.
Armageddon surprisingly has more than a few moments that hit deep. It doesn't matter how many times I see it. Those same moments get me. Armageddon is also notorious at NASA. Astronaut trainees watch the movie and have to notice all the "errors" or things that wouldn't really happen in real life, and there is like 170 of them or something around that number. I'm sure on your wedding day you will also look just as beautiful Trixy!
Obviously small conciliation but you'd have to figure Harry would be one of the most famous....if not THE most famous humans in history after that. Funny thing is that if drilling here on earth. The biggest chance of failure would likely be tripping out of the hole after meeting their depth. The potential for getting their bit stuck is very legit. Becoming increasingly so with each additional trip out of the hole.
@@GeorgeTropicana yeah but clearly the critics have always been kinda up their own hindparts. They tend to praise things like Uncut Gems (which was mediocre at best) because of its more arthouse cerebral style, and then absolutely trash summer blockbuster movies for being "derivative and uninspiring" like guys, we don't go to the movies because they are high art, we go because they entertain us. Sometimes transforming cars and big explosions is as complicated as it needs to be to be entertaining lol
The first time I saw this movie I watched it with my best friend. We were both on the SWAT team. Yeah, I cried like a baby when Harry was talking to his daughter. No shame. Because, humanity. That is all.
Dr. Seuss is an American children's book author who wrote books you're probably familiar with, like "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", "The Lorax", and "Cat In The Hat" (all three of which were adapted into movies). He imagined a lot of alien-looking landscapes and worlds, "Dr. Seuss' worst nightmare" is a good way to describe the landscape of the asteroid in this movie lol
Blue when Rockhound is riding the nuclear weapon like a cowboy he was paying homage to Slim Pickens in the movie Dr Strangeglove a classic you might want to check out
Thank you Trixy Blue that was an epic reaction to one of the best movies ever, now every time you hear that music it will bring back every feeling again. most si-fi you can watch and get engrossed in the plot , but some like this one are so possible it really help it to hit a home run. 2 others you might like watching are " Knowing " or a good space movie " Mission To Mars " you should enjoy these .
Thank you so much for your reaction-it was so pure and genuine! I cried along with you, about as much as I cried when I saw this in the theater as a teenager. This movie is just amazing! The science is crap, but you can tell so much heart and soul went into it. And the music is just epic, emotional, and inspiring.
I like how emotionally open you are. Some things in adulthood can make a person emotionally distant. It's to your credit that you care so much, even about pretend people in a film. Don't lose that, okay? I think when we lose or ignore the capacity to feel empathy, we lose an important aspect of being human and being alive. Just my two pennies worth.
She is isnt she? Kind of anoying, and her little "they got no lives back home so its ok to sacrifice them, but NOT the cute guy with a fiance" thing pissed me off honestly, that kind of selective-based compassion is why so much shit hapens in the world. Thats why I'm glad I stoped being like that long ago and got desenzitized. Like it or not, emotional distance as you call it gives ppl objectivity. And shes definitly not objective. Now i'm not exacly one to preach, I definitly saw (and did) things in life that maked me very emotionaly distant and hardened, to say the least, including some I'm not proud of now, but just my 2 cents on her litle selective tearing-up. I dont like it. If she felt sorry for evryone aboard equaly, thats diferent. But shes selective in who she feels sorry for, and who shuld be sacrificed, in her mind, to save a 'more valuable' person. Fuck that.
This Is literally my favorite movie! I had this download so I could listen to it while otherwise occupied. It had me crying. I had to go back and watch it again
29:36 "How does even a gun work in space?" Very well, actually. Modern ammunition contains all the necessary gunpowder and oxidizer to fire in complete vacuum. Test firing in airless chambers shows that guns not only fire normally but the bullets have a higher muzzle velocity and do more damage to targets due to the lack of air slowing them down.
This is the first reaction to a movie I have watched, this is my all time favorite movie, and your reaction was priceless! I would have LOVED to have gone to the theater and watched it with you.
Dr. Seuss was a poet and illustrator. He made poetry books for kids with trippy, strange art. People and landscapes, mostly. His most famous work internationally, I'd say, is probably "How The Grinch Stole Christmas". The asteroid is basically a nightmare psychedelic land, but you already agreed, so you definitely picked up on what they meant without any context!🤣 With that said, i like this movie, but my favorite iteration of "gotta blow asteroid before it hits" movie, is Deep Impact. I feel it has a little more gravitas than this one. There's a much bigger story involving the people on earth, and the human failures cause a lot more damage and chaos. I've noticed several comments mentioning the same. 🤣
Deep Impact is a similar-type movie that I think you’d enjoy as well. It’s not as exciting, but it’s a lot more realistic, I think. It came out about the same time.
"Deep Impact" is much closer to what could occur. This is fun if you ignore astrophysics, but it is a live action cartoon. It did lead to Bruce Willis recommending Michael Clarke Duncan for "The Green Mile."
Hello Ms. Blue, the gravity thing. Simply explained gravity is constant acceleration (there is a thing called constant gravity but it is beyond the scope of the current explanation, which is different from the way you normally think about gravity). The gravity on the station is created by what is called centripetal acceleration. If you take small spherical ball attach a cord to it and start to spin it quickly the tension in the cord is a result of the product of centripetal acceleration and the mass of the ball. The station does practically the same thing as the spinning you create. However, instead of a string to resist the force of tension you got walls and floors. That is how micro gravity is made in space. Movie wise it also is cheaper to shoot. Hope it helps 😀
I have heard that NASA uses (Or used) this movie to test new engineers to see if they could find all the scientific inaccuracies... still a great, fun movie!
The official video for Aerosmith's 'Dont Wanna Close My eyes' song is really cool. It features actual military musicians playing the brass and violin parts of the song. Also, did you know the singer of Aerosmith, Steve Tyler, is Liv Tyler's father? Btw... I love your hair. It reminds of Tiffany & Co. Technically called 1837 Blue (yes, Tiffany patented their blue, 1837 is when Tiffany & Co was founded). Nice!
Sad reality is if there really was an asteroid that size headed right at Earth with 100% chance of impact, we'd know about it with more than 18 days warning. Nothing we could do to stop it either.
I always think about those pilots who did the celebratory flyby at the end. Instead of being with their families they were sitting in their cockpits waiting to takeoff on the off chance the plan worked.
Trixy WTF... I have not enough time to watch your reactions ... and I love your reactions... I`ve kept my space for 2 hours a week... but you bring iconic movies every single day now... big love for that !! There are so much beautiful movies in such a short time, which you are reaction to. It`s allways nice to see it. THX
When I look at the movies nowaday and compare to this one from 1998, i finally understood why this is such a good movie. it has ALL the elements of a good movie. realism aside (as it should for all MOVIES), the pacing is excellent, i was never bored or disengaged, its 2.5hrs so it covers a lot of the journey sufficiently to make you care for a few characters or some things. Michael Bay made lots efforts to make every scene to build up the journey and characters. Shooting underwater, creating the armadillo vehicles, fly planes and helicopters, launching space shuttles, create CGI. The speeches and lines are on point. the scenes on humankind and unity is meaningful and impactful. The story is good, the plot is fine, the reactions and sequence of events are natural and realistic, so many good actors + Liv Tyler in their youth, their performance is top notch, they really play their characters well, unique and charismatic. The music is really fitting in each scene, i listened all the way till credits end, the 3 chosen songs for the credits are impactful, the wedding scenes added is not needed but artistically, it added so much closure and relief after a lot of tension scenes throughout, that you felt this movie is COMPLETE. Aerosmith's I don't wanna miss a thing is perfect for the love scenes and story built-up to the ultimate celebration of wedding and humanity. The script is great, no cheesy forceful jokes, no cringe at all, jokes are delivered with good writing, makes naturally sense and actor's comedic timing and performance are well done. i don't need to say the actions are choreographed well, michael bay's explosions are top notch even if things has no reason to blow up. Everything that can go wrong, did go wrong, so its just that this movie hits all the tiniest probabilities hahaha =D. The visuals are fantastic for a 1998 movie. The asteroid is the only one that is more clearly on the CGI side. The disasters are quick and fast but the blending with people and destruction is fast enough to cover you from looking at it too long, so it wasn't distracting and looked real enough. There is only one space scene that distracted me as it was not blended well when the shuttle was flying off back to earth. replaying the scene when i now focused on it made it seemed fine. i laughed, i teared, i rooted for them, they hooked me in the moment they show all the preparations, the movie is serious about making it as real and fun as possible, even if the science and space and rockets and astronauts are not to be taken seriously. That is a winning recipe for a movie, solidly made. You compare that to most movies, they don't got all that. True they don't have USD140m budget in 1998 (usd250-264m in Sep 2023), so that's why you gotta appreciate what the writers and directors managed to pull together. they grossed around USD553m (~USD1 billion in today's currency rate) so good for them.

I don't think Blue would survive "Deep Impact" because it's so emotional.
Really hope she sees this bro 🤞
This is the most EPIC movie ever. It’s the perfect combination of everything.
I died laughing when you said you’d volunteer to detonate the weapon if you were a prostitute. I’m still laughing!!
Deep Impact was a similar movie but it doesn’t even hold a candle to Armageddon.
Rumours that I've heard that I take with a pretty big spoonful of salt, but I like to repeat anyway:
NASA supposedly shows this movie to trainees just so they can count all the hundreds of scientific inaccuracies in it.
Bruce Willis supposedly asked Michael Bay: Why do you have to train oil drillers to be astronauts? Wouldn't it be better to train astronauts to be oil drillers? Michael Bay: STFU.
Bruce Willis' first day on set was his phone call to his daughter and he had pictures of his real daughters on the screen
Aerosmith: I don't wanna miss a thing, also LIvs dad is lead singer
I was an electronic technician on off shore drilling rigs. A really good movie you should watch is Deepwater Horizon starring Mark Wahlberg as the rig ET. It's a true story and shows a lot about how a drilling rig works. My son was on one of the boats that went to rescue.
Yes. A good movie
A beautiful story! Thank you for sharing it with us! God Bless you, your wife and "baby Grace"! 🙏
Oh wow this is so beautiful! If she ever plays sports and wins, you gotta be like "WE WIN, GRACIE!!"
When blue asked: Are these explosive asteroids? Yes welcome to Michael Bay movies.
It is not only a good action movie but very very emotional, many iconic scenes that will get you down, pump you up or just flat out make you cry just like you did several times, dear Blue. Great reaction 😊👍👌👏
Another great film that you love to share with people who get it. Great react…Keep’em coming!
The soundtrack expertly adds to the emotional moments. Beautiful reaction and I have ugly cried to this as well
36:09 "Why didn't they travel to a less iron place? They had the time."
Maybe.
"straw paladin" - that's a name that describes the hombres in this movie!
Yes I cried at the ending as a teenager and it's up there with titanic
Your kitten biting you was my favorite part. I cried along with you during this flick.
Loved Your Reaction Blue ☺️ and Your Kitten that was Getting up to Mischief in the Background too Lol Soo Cute
I have seen this movie at least a dozen times and I never cried. That is until I watched it with you. A wonderful reaction. Thank you Blue.
He has a reason to get it done no matter what
We will not mention that the love song sung while Liv Tyler and Ben Affleck are (ahem) is being sung by her REAL LIFE FATHER!!!!
This is the only movie I ever saw my dad cry for.
When you're younger, you relate to Harry as your dad sacrificing himself. As you get older, you relate to Harry because why wouldn't you sacrifice yourself to save your kid? When Liv says "Daddy?" when they speak at the end, oh man, instant rush of tears.
That cute kitten is the best. I can't stop watching it whenever it's in view.
You are why this movie is so great! Thank you!!!
You are just as sweet as cotton candy. I didn't expect that. I didn't cry in the theatre, but I did cry later on a re-watch. I had my girl with me at the time. Guys are not allowed to cry in a theatre unless they are unescorted. But, eventually there were tears.
Amazing reaction. You are so entertaining. Thank you.
It's one of my favorites. Glad you enjoyed it.. It was fun watching you enjoy it
Obviously small conciliation but you'd have to figure Harry would be one of the most famous....if not THE most famous humans in history after that.
Funny thing is that if drilling here on earth. The biggest chance of failure would likely be tripping out of the hole after meeting their depth. The potential for getting their bit stuck is very legit. Becoming increasingly so with each additional trip out of the hole.
Trixy: Dr. Seuss is a writer of children's books. The books have very colorful and weird drawn characters. I think you would enjoy "Don't Hop On Pop."
Man, Armageddon got a bad rep when it came out...but I still absolutely love it. Such a watchable movie.
Did it? I rember going to theaters and it was a packed house. It was a huge success when it came out, nobody I knew was talking it down.
@@SweetLou0523 it was a huge success, but a LOT of people mostly critics talked endless shit on it
@@GeorgeTropicana yeah but clearly the critics have always been kinda up their own hindparts.
Oh..., now you have to see "Deep Impact", is on the same plotline but more hard-science.
See also “Deep Impact,” a Robert Duvall movie which came out at about the same time. Similar story, but more subdued, and earthly focused.
Hello, FYI, I have seen this movie many times, along with watching on your type of channel. I still tear up at that part. too. 61 yr old man.
Blue when Rockhound is riding the nuclear weapon like a cowboy he was paying homage to Slim Pickens in the movie Dr Strangeglove a classic you might want to check out
Lets ask cinemas to play classics in theatres so we can experience this once more on the big screen. I was just a baby when this came out 😮💨
Thank you Trixy Blue that was an epic reaction to one of the best movies ever, now every time you hear that music it will bring back every feeling again. most si-fi you can watch and get engrossed in the plot , but some like this one are so possible it really help it to hit a home run.
Harry's courage and greatness, in French, is called "avoir du panache." 🙂
Fuck that.
I've been binging your reactions lately, but I swear i don't think i cried this much actually watching the movie as i did seeing your reaction
A relative of mine once said that this movie was the personification of Murphy's Law: "What can go wrong, will go wrong"
This Is literally my favorite movie! I had this download so I could listen to it while otherwise occupied. It had me crying. I had to go back and watch it again
29:36 "How does even a gun work in space?"
Very well, actually.
Wow
Legendary
Harry stamper
👏👏👏😭😭😭
Is the big hero
The heroes never dies
👍😭😭😭😭
Your cat was the star of the reaction.
If you're interested, "Deep Impact" deals with the same issue, but it's much more poignant and serious. It's a cryer, very emotional.
I cry at your level literally after every watch, including watching this video!
Dr. Seuss was a poet and illustrator. He made poetry books for kids with trippy, strange art. People and landscapes, mostly. His most famous work internationally, I'd say, is probably "How The Grinch Stole Christmas".
The asteroid is basically a nightmare psychedelic land, but you already agreed, so you definitely picked up on what they meant without any context!🤣
With that said, i like this movie, but my favorite iteration of "gotta blow asteroid before it hits" movie, is Deep Impact.
The song for this movie is called “ I don’t want to miss a thing” by Areo Smith
Hope it helps
😀
I am glad that you enjoyed watching this film because it was funny and same time heartbreaking scene. This film has brilliant to watch ❤😊
The ending to this movie is on the Mount Rushmore of cinema tearjerkers.
I have heard that NASA uses (Or used) this movie to test new engineers to see if they could find all the scientific inaccuracies... still a great, fun movie!
The way Ben affleck yelled don’t do it harry is powerfully emotional.
There's a connection between a fatherland daughter that gets me everytime
I always think about those pilots who did the celebratory flyby at the end. Instead of being with their families they were sitting in their cockpits waiting to takeoff on the off chance the plan worked.
Dont worry i cry to this every time seen it many many times
Yeah it’s been making people cry since the 90s
You weren't the only one who cried
Dang it Blue your tears made me have tears! 😢
@BrOlegGiveaway omg I'm totally going to reach out to you botty bot!
